  1. If we were going to draft an ACC/SEC SS I would have much preferred LSU's Kramer Robertson who went in the 4th Round to the Cardinals
  2. Jayson Rose=Trevor Hoffman Hey a man can dream!
  3. Hairston is an interesting pick. I've seen a bunch of Louisville games this year and the TV commentators (for what it is worth) generally describe him as the best defensive SS in college Baseball, yet his scouting report suggests something different. I've been very impressed with him defensively from what I've seen, just wonder if he'll be able to hit well enough
  4. Hiura on his arm: "Right now, it feels good. It hasn't bothered me all year. I won't know if it's completely healed until I begin throwing again and get another MRI. It never bothered me when I swing or do other activities. My goal is to not have surgery. I was told by the doctors it was not required. I'm looking forward to seeing if it's good to go and good to throw." The kid can flat out hit. Excited about his potential
  5. Kudos SRB! You pretty much nailed that one
  6. A couple of very intriguing hitters drafted so far...very interesting....one would think that part of the big picture plan is to trade one or two (or three!) of the outfield surplus in the system for pitching
  7. I watched a bunch of video on Pavin Smith and now I see more why so many of you guys really like him. Is he an elite athletic freak like Adell? No. But Smith's floor is pretty high. Hard to imagine a swing like that not making it to the show and contributing
  8. Shane Baz might be a really tough sign http://www.houstonchronicle.com/sports/highschool/article/Concordia-Lutheran-s-Shane-Baz-likely-an-early-11211075.php I like his potential a ton though
  9. Jeren Kendall. Alex Faedo. Evan White. Keston Hiura
  10. I continue to root for Jordan Adell at 9 for his amazing ceiling potential. Rooker in the 2nd or 3rd would be fantastic in my opinion. Both have obvious risks but the potential is huge If not Adell then I'd hope for a pitcher at 9. Not overly thrilled with any of the pitching options at 9 though
  11. Funny! I thought the same thing when I saw the 4 HR 10 RBI stat scroll across ESPN.....
  12. Sogard still has him beat with a 1.4 WAR Villar? -0.3 WAR in 236 plate appearances. That is brutal
  13. Was hoping to see Phillips in the starting lineup tonight but probably not vs a LHP
  14. Interested in opinions of this, as I always thought of Scooter as someone who maximized his lesser talents. Went and looked up his Perfect Game scouting reports when he was a Senior in High School: "2008 National Showcase Jun 13, 2008 PG Grade: 10 Ryan "Scooter" Gennett is a 2009 MIF/OF with a 5'10'', 170 lb. frame from Sarasota, FL who attends Sarasota HS. Gennett is an extremely athletic infielder with excellent infield actions. His hands and feet work very well and he has easy plus arm strength and was gunned in the low 90's across the diamond. He has excellent bat speed at the plate with plus extension in his swing. He has serious pull power and can also drive the ball to the opposite field. He has strength in his swing and the ball explodes off his bat. Gennett can also really run (6.57 60) and is a very exciting player to watch on the field. A true 5 tool prospect. He has made a verbal commitment to Florida State. Aflac All American" a 5 Tool Athlete? Is that relative to other High Schoolers? Plus arm strength? 6.57 sixty speed and just 14 SB's in his MLB career? Say what?
  15. I'd prefer that they DFA Franklin and keep Phillips up
  16. In regards to Segura, we received Chase Anderson, Isan Diaz & Aaron Hill for Segura & Tyler Wagner. Anderson has been way better than any of us dreamed of, Diaz is only hitting .233/.331 in A+ ball at age 21 but is still regarded as a legit prospect. Hill gave us a half season of solid MLB production (.283/.359) and was flipped for Rijo & Wilkerson, neither of whom might be more than organizational fodder but Wilkerson might eventually be able to help in the bullpen, and Rijo is only 21 and plays both SS & 2B (and had a .400 OBP in A+ ball this year in a small sample). Tyler Wagner has a 7.71 ERA in AAA this year I don't mind the Segura trade at all, it depends on if Diaz develops still.
  17. I don't think the Brewers are convinced that Arcia is the longterm answer at SS anyways. Which is another reason to not send him down. Mauricio Dubon is hitting .295 in AA at the age of 22 and if he isn't as good as Arcia defensively he's close.
  18. Arcia's numbers you can put up with because he gives you plus plus defense
  19. Hernan has a .770 OPS and a career OBP of .284 (.304 OBP this year). It is really easy to overrate him because he flashes excellence at times. The offensive numbers he puts up are nothing special in the corners. His value is as a super utility player. Phillips looks like a defensive upgrade vs any of our MLB OF's and hopefully he can hit well enough to be a starting OF in MLB at some point soon. Looks like there is some swing & miss in his approach for sure
  20. It is certainly an interesting idea. I think, considering the OF talent in the system, the Brewers are more likely if they do have to trade prospects for an upgrade it'd be for a pitchers with years of control
  21. That is who I'm hoping for! Ceiling is too high not to roll the dice. Plus if he is a bust offensively I think he can at least be a relief pitcher throwing high 90's
  22. Yelich's production so far this year has been only OK. Kind of a roll of the dice as to just how good he is. On paper I like him better than any of our OF's including Braun (mostly due to Braun's durability issues)
  23. +1 on that. Surprise player is Sogard. Who saw that coming?! .410/.566/.667 Edited to add: if Sogard went 3 for his next 30 with zero walks he'd still be hitting .275 with a .395 OBP (!) Sogard has been an amazing story but at this point in the season if I gotta award surprise player I'd give it to the KBO veteran with 166 ABs and a 1.000+ OPS rather than the guy with 39. Yep, that makes sense.... it sure was good to see Thames hit a HR recently. He's been struggling and looked like he was starting to chase a little. I think he's legit as long as he stays within his approach
  24. +1 on that. Surprise player is Sogard. Who saw that coming?! .410/.566/.667 Edited to add: if Sogard went 3 for his next 30 with zero walks he'd still be hitting .275 with a .395 OBP (!)
