  1. I do think lighting off fireworks when the roof is closed is beyond dumb. He has a point
  2. I'd be thrilled with getting Arroyo, but I think the Giants are close to done for the season. We'll see but the Rockies are much improved, Dodgers are tough, and Bumgarner is seriously hurt. I just don't see it.... maybe if the trade for Braun now with hopes for 2018? Just not seeing it
  3. I would agree with that. Thornburg alone brought back Shaw & Dubon The logjam at OF with Santana, Brinson, Phillips, Cordell, Broxton, Braun could bring something back
  4. Hernan Perez: if you hit you don't sit! Keep hitting Hernan!!!!
  5. I'm hoping for defense, defense and more defense
  6. No puns intended as Harrison turned down being a WR for Nebraska, but has Harrison turned the corner? Just 75 AB's but 6 HR's and batting .315/.375/.630 He's a big kid, 6'3" 220 pounds... Has he gotten faster since Perfect Game recorded him at 6.6 in the 60? Or is that his top end speed. Still have the cannon arm? I haven't had a chance to see him play yet, but the early returns on his stats seem promising
  7. For what it's worth, a friend of mine has a kid who goes to the same high school as Austin Beck so he's seen Beck play a lot. Here is what he said about Beck: "the comparisons to Trout aren't fair. Austin is not anywhere close to as strong as Trout was in high school and it is doubtful he'll ever be that strong. He is a legit Top 10/Top 15 prospect though. Power/Speed combination, all out hustle, great kid, great family, great teammate. He can stick in center field and projects as a guy who could hit 25 HR's and steal 25 bases in MLB"
  8. I like Jordan Adell a lot more than Austin Beck. I think the comparisons I've read of Beck to Mike Trout are highly questionable. Beck could end up being a good player, but if you are drafting on the tools you go Adell. Faster, more explosive, better arm
  9. Thanks Patrick for the reply. Very interesting stuff I would be curious if you have talked to old school hitting guys about Kendall? His swing is down to contact and nothing at all like what is represented in the newer Baseball evolution of the swing that we see from the greats of the game today. The old school guys, many college hitting instructors, many pro hitting instructors, still advocate swinging down to contact but zero MLB All-Stars hit that way.... it is kind of a fascinating crossroads of the evolution of Baseball we are in. I'd encourage you to check that video I posted out
  10. I wonder if Pavin Smith's ceiling is somewhat close to what he did in the Wood Bat summer league? (.318/.394/.444).... strong chance to be a MLB regular, low chance to be a bust, some would label him a "safe pick" but for some reason great 1B's are tougher to find now, maybe similar to a Lyle Overbay type. Not a very exciting pick in some ways but a high floor. I think it is possible that the 3TO trend in MLB is starting to end once Smith makes it to the Show. He could indeed be the type of player (high contact, low strikeout) who is ahead of the next trend.
  11. I would agree strongly with this video. Kendall has the overall athleticism to be an MLB player but only if he completely rebuilds his swing
  12. If he slips to #9 I'd really like to see the Brewers select Jordan Adell, a very intriguing prospect: 6.19 60, 96 mph arm, 99 mph exit velocity, plus plus athleticism https://www.perfectgame.org/Pl...ofile.aspx?ID=369822 I like Adell's potential more than Jeren Kendall, another toolsy prospect. Kendall will really need to redo his swing, which as it currently looks will not work at the MLB level
  13. Bernie Brewer for the win
  14. The Reds are such an awful team. Wow Uecker on the TV play by play. This is what watching Baseball on TV is like in heaven
  15. Is this game gonna be on MLB Network in Wisconsin or will it be blacked out?
  16. Trout has averaged 9.5 WAR the last 5 years and has 1.9 WAR so far this year. As great as he is, ain't nobody paying him $75 Million a year!
  17. Say what? So....6 WAR is worth $48 Million? Mike Trout is worth $80 Million a year?
  18. Hernan should be in the starting lineup for the next 2 weeks or until he cools off. When he gets hot he stays hot for awhile
  19. Hernan at SS. Wonder if Arcia's dealing with a tired arm. He has bounced more than a few throws lately
  20. Meh, you can put anyone out in positions and say they are "doing it." We'll see what this looks like come years end. I still have no problem with cutting him. I guess the one you could say he maybe should've been kept over is Aguilar. Time will tell. I think that is true with many of the multiple position players. Villar is average to below average at most of the defensive positions he plays. Same to a lesser degree with Ben Zobrist even, who is a poster child for the supersub/utiltity freak types. Javier Baez is an exception.
  21. Scooter has played 2B/3B/LF/RF for the Reds so far this year without an error, and has an .895 OPS (small sample alert). So it is no longer a theory as to whether he can play multiple positions in MLB, he is doing it. He is about to turn 27 and won't be a free agent until 2020, he was not considered a long term part of the rebuilding Brewers, which could have been shortsighted but Stearns evaluated the talent levels and saw Villar/Perez/Diaz and Dubon as having better longterm potential and longer years of being under team control than Scooter, with a lower cost. I get it.
  22. To answer the question posted in the thread title, the time to start worrying about Villar would be after about 200 at bats, emphasis on the word "start"
  23. Hit a bomb, get DFA'd the next day. Reminds me a little of Gabe Gross' last game as a Brewer. Perez can probably play CF better than Santana
