  1. .895 Fielding Percentage at 3B?
  2. I think it should be more "How long before Braun moves to LA?" Or Seattle? Or NY? Let's trade him while we can still get a nice haul back for him. Winter meetings 2015/2016 let's make it happen. Taijuan Walker for Ryan Braun
  3. Considering that I'm holding out hope for the #1 overall draft pick (we currently have 5 more wins than the Phillies), that would be awesome!
  4. [ ] Judging a player solely on their age to competition level and 174 plate appearances at that level is an accurate way to project future success. In 420 career AA At-Bats, Haniger has a .741 OPS The biggest problem is that he has just a .405 SLG % at AA ball. That'd be OK if he had elite speed or a .400 OBP or could play great middle-infield or elite CF, but he can't. 24 year old corner outfielder's who put up .405 SLG% in AA are considered longshots in terms of MLB potential
  5. It is certainly possible. Maybe Haniger is a late developer. At 24 years old Markakis had a .897 OPS & 20 HR's in MLB. Markakis played AA ball at the age of 21 and put up stats that year of a .339 BA, .420 OBP, .992 OPS
  6. Haniger is 24 years old and is in AA Ball with a .730 OPS this year
  7. An athlete like that, you take a flyer on. Why not? Broxton wasn't going to bring back much anyways. Personally I've often felt that a speedster who can pinch run in key spots is a better use for the 25th spot on the roster that a back end of a bullpen guy. Of course in the National League it would help if he could at least play some strong defense somewhere too
  8. In keeping with the context of the thread I will add this: The Brewers are trading for all these Outfielders because their analytics team has cracked the Baseball strategy code of the future: using 4 Outfielders on defense in radical shifts. Triangle and 1..... 4 across..... and the what will be popular Warning Track plus Rover "Hybrid".
  9. They have almost zero chance of a 2016 World Series season Carlos Gomez will be a free agent after the 2016 season They wouldn't have been able to keep Gomez past 2016 anyways. They received terrific young prospects for Gomez & Fiers
  10. McCalvy makes a great point here: "So the #Brewers trade was prospects Anthony Banda and Mitch Haniger for one calendar year of Gerardo Parra plus Zach Davies. Seems OK, no?"
  11. You are making a good point here. But this is a good problem to have. Stockpiling talent is a good thing. The player's production or lackthereof can sort things out Phillips is the potential star, he is a big upgrade over everyone listed. Santana is huge, can he play 1B? I like Clark & Coulter a lot of they are a few years away at least Hopefully the Brewers can deal Braun at some point. By the time the Brewers are contenders again, Braun will be in a steep decline.
  12. Surprised people thought the Brewers could get more for Parra. I get that he's having a career year, but he's a 2 month rental and just last year people were complaining about him taking playing time away from Khris Davis! This is a great trade. Davies is a legit starting pitcher prospect
  13. I like Davies a lot. Kid is only 22, pitching very well in AAA right now. Zero time on his MLB clock. Projects as an MLB starter http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=davies000zac
  14. Love this trade. Love it, love it, love it.
  15. I'm back to being concerned that the Brewers won't get any big trades done at the deadline.....
  16. Fascinating that we will now be able to look over the next 5 years and see which combination of Wheeler/Flores vs whoever Gomez gets traded for turns out to be the better deal. As an Armchair GM I love it
  17. This. Exactly 100% I'm pretty thrilled with this trade honestly. While Wheeler has never been lights out dominant at any level in his pro career, he is a legit bigtime pitching prospect, the likes of which the Brewers have not had since Ben Sheets graced the Miller Park mound.
  18. One of the very worst things any fan can do is say "well yeah but it was better than the 20 years before Mark came along....." Oh man thats even more depressing. I seriously might need a vacation from the Brewers and this Board. I was a Packers fan through the 70's & 80's. If Ron Wolf had achieved a .500 record in a few seasons and gotten one playoff victory and 2 playoff appearances in his time as a GM would I have been satisfied with saying "well at least it was better than the 70's & 80's!?" No Let us please not set the bar at the Selig-Prieb era.
  19. Well, and I mean this sincerely, hopefully the Brewers can lose enough in the next several years so that Mark will sell the team. Because the current model clearly isn't working. He needs to either change his ways, or sell.... otherwise we'll be constantly in this .500 team "catch lightning in a bottle" hoodwink that he is perpetuating on himself and the fanbase. Mark Attanasio is his own worst enemy.
  20. This thread is so depressing. I'm holding out hope that the Brewers can really be sellers in the next 48 hours. Otherwise we are quickly becoming a AAAA team and the best thing I can hope for is that Attanasio sells the team
  21. I've somewhat resigned myself to that reality. Now if they do pull off some good trades I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  22. Exactly. The window is only open so long and then it closes. Back to trying to find pitching in the draft or developing who we already have in the system. A team needs to jump at acquiring young pitching whenever possible.
