  1. German Marquez has a lower xFIP than any Dodgers starter this season. Let's keep the barrel rolling!
  2. We just dominated a team with multiple MVP vote-getters. *Edit to add that the below is not necessarily responding to your post, HwB* I don't like the narrative that the Rockies were a bad team. They weren't. Arrenado/Story are better than any two Dodgers hitters. They had just exploded 11 runs or something like that on the eve of the playoffs. We lucked out by missing Freeland, but even German Marquez has been on par with any of the Dodgers starters this season (in fact better by advanced stats). There's a reason the Rockies and Dodgers were tied after 162 games, and it's not because the Dodgers are amazing and the Rockies terrible...
  3. The Dodgers offense is sort of the inverse of the Rockies: the Rockies hit LHP very well, but the Dodgers are weak against LHP. I think Miley and Gio should start two of the first three games (along with Chacin), and that Cedeno and Jennings should both make the roster.
  4. It doesn't really. Is that top-4 that much different than Blackmon/LeMahieu/Arrenado/Story? Yankees are stacked top to bottom, Boston is more top-heavy but they have the two best hitters (by a substantial margin) in the postseason, and if healthy the best pitcher. Perhaps I'm slightly biased because I find Houston to be the most loathsome organization in baseball for a variety of reasons we don't need to get into here, and would much rather lose to the Yankees (though at the same time thinking Houston gives us the best chance of winning). As somebody noted above though, this is all on paper. Anything can happen if/once we get there.
  5. Definitely. The Astros pitching staff is why they're in the playoffs. But I think lower scoring games play to our advantages more than a slug fest with the Red Sox and Yankees lineups, which are just ridiculous.
  6. Altuve, Bregman, Springer don’t scare you? Did you not see what they did in the playoffs last year? Pretty sure Springer has homered in like 7 of his last 8 playoff games including today. Altuve would be better than anyone in our lineup not named Yelich (maybe even better than him), and Bregman put up a borderline MVP season this year. I’m terrified of their lineup. Edit: forgot about Correa too, he had a down season but it’s clear how deadly he can be. Eh, you can't cobble together players' best seasons, or if you do then we get 2011 Braun, 2017 Schoop, etc. The Astros are mediocre defensively and Bregman is their only superstar offensive player this season. Aside from Bregman and Altuve (having a down year) everyone else on that team in 2018 was worse than Travis Shaw. Altuve is not better than Lorenzo Cain or Yelich even factoring in that he plays 2B... *Edit* To be clear, I'm not underestimating these AL teams, we'd be the underdog against any of them. I just don't think the Astros can compete against the 2018 Red Sox or Yankees.
  7. I'd prefer the Astros over either Boston or New York As a baseball fan, I would prefer the Astros. But I think the Yankees are the most beatable of that group, so I guess go Yankees? The Yankees have some health issues, but that offense is frightening. I'm not frightened of the Astros offense.
  8. Broxton is a great piece to have because not only is he a great defender and base runner, but he gives you legitimate pop off the bench. I feel bad to say it but Schoop seems the most expendable to me. You're not going to use him for defense over Perez, and as a pure PH he is clearly worse than Santana and Granderson. If even Thames gets cut because of his poor second half, surely Schoop is on the bubble.
  9. I'd prefer the Astros over either Boston or New York
  10. Why would we start Davies when he has been so mediocre this season? I would go: Game 1 - Miley Game 2 - Chacin Game 3 - Gio Game 4 - bullpen Game 5 - what game 5?
  11. But if the Rockies hadn't been trailing by so much they wouldn't have brought in their scrub reliever Wade Davis to serve up a couple taters... wait...
  12. Dodgers hitters vs. LHP: .317 wOBA, 101 wRC+ vs. RHP: .341 wOBA, 117 wRC+ Have to think Cedeno is definitely a lock, maybe even Jennings too. I would anticipate Miley and Gio both getting starts.
  13. !!! https://twitter.com/Brewers/status/1049090189442932736 HighHeat18 revealed to be UK Prime Minister Theresa May.
  14. They have until Friday but at a certain point it has to do with cumulative season innings too. Jeffress has blown past his career highs in IP.
  15. I think using Jeffress here in a non-save situation when he's been worked a lot was very foolish, oh well.
  16. Shaw had a great AB (which was really a walk but the umpire sees the score) and hit a long fly out. Can't get a hit 100% of the time even if you are Barry Bonds.
  17. The Rockies had the best Home wOBA in the major leagues by a substantial margin this season, and German Marquez has been dominant in the second half. The Brewers are just on a roll!
