  1. The Brewers are going to make money because we were playing much better than we were expected to play. But this team has tanked, and Mark shouldn't expect the same kind of home attendance numbers next year unless changes are made. And I mean serious changes. With the money Melvin had at his disposal, we shouldn't be rolling out spare parts at first base. Yet this is now two years in a row the position has been an unmitigated disaster.
  2. Every man wearing a Milwaukee Brewers uniform, from the manager on down to the ball boy/girl, should feel absolutely embarrassed to be a part of this pathetic team.
  3. No, it couldn't. You can turn the lights out. This team is done. What a completely pathetic display from the entire team. Every single coach and player wearing a Brewers uniform should be embarrassed, and ashamed of themselves. 44 seasons, no World Series championships, and now this epic collapse. I'm sorry. I love this team, but this franchise is going nowhere.
  4. Just caught the beginning of Sportscenter after the second NFL Game tonight. They led off with the Ray Rice debacle, then talked about one of the games tonight, and Eli's 2 picks. Then Kershaw winning his 18th. Then they're showing all the Marlin home runs, and Gallardo getting destroyed. "And the Brewers have now lost 12 of 13!" You idiots wouldn't even talk about us at the beginning of the season when we were one of the best teams in baseball. Wouldn't mention we were the first team in baseball to 50 wins. Night after night, when we were winning, and destroying everybody, we were at the end of the hour, no matter what we were doing. But now that we're losing, oh hey, gotta put the Brewers in the first ten minutes of the show. If a meteor fell on Bristol, CT, I seriously wouldn't shed a tear. If they didn't have football, I wouldn't watch them at all.
  5. My concern is that this is all Braun ever would have been without steroids Can you not see the problems Braun is having swinging the bat? Clearly he is hurting. He is still going to have 20 + home runs even though he'll have missed 20% of the season, and much of, if not all of the time he has been playing, he's been hurt. His power is fine. His production has been pretty good all things considered. He's nowhere near 100% right now. If he can get healthy, which I pray he can, I think you'll see the Ryan Braun of old. After all, he tested positive in 2011, and he had an MVP season in 2012 while he was being tested like crazy. Braun's drop in performance is not because of any steroids he's missing. He can't control the bat.
  6. Jesus, this team has lost 12 of 13, and in 13 games, we've scored a grand total of 32 runs, not even 2.5 runs per game. I've seen a lot of bad Brewer baseball in my life. But this might take the cake. It's so bad I don't even watch anymore. I haven't been able to bring myself to watch this team, because it's so inept in every facet, all it will do is raise my blood pressure.
  7. Weeks for Paxton. Make it happen, DM.
  8. Slight correction. We were 19 games over after a win against Colorado on June 28th. Thank you. That's even worse. We were 7 games up in the win column on the Cardinals at the end of the day on June 28th. June 28th Mil 51-32 St. L 44-38 Two months later, we still had a lead, even though we were playing terrible baseball. Aug 30 Mil 73-62 St. L 71-63 Even though we had gone 22-30 over that two month period, St. Louis had only played .500 ball, well a game over .500 ball, going 27-25. Now look at us September 6th St. L 78-64 Mil 74-68 Sigh. How does a team go from being 19 games over .500, on track to have the greatest season in franchise history, to completely missing the playoffs? I mean, this isn't on par with the Giants winning the pennant over the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1951, mind you, because the Dodgers had a much larger lead. But at least Dodger fans could console themselves with the fact that the Giants played some pretty amazing baseball, finishing the season with a 37-8 run. Well, the Cardinals have been pretty average. Not only have they played terribly, they lost their best player, too. We have 20 games left. How many games do we need to win to ensure we make the playoffs?
  9. Games like this one are precisely why I want Ron Roenicke gone. I have nothing against Ron Roenicke the man. He's actually quite likeable. And, I think he genuinely cares for his team. But, he just makes bad decisions, time and time again. And this team, while it is talented, is not so good that it can overcome the mistakes we make because of his managing. I don't know if this team could be improved just by replacing a few coaches. We obviously need a third base coach, because we have Stevie Wonder there now. But I don't know if Ron Roenicke will replace his coaches. He feels a loyalty to them just like Mike McCarthy feels a loyalty to his coaches. But that loyalty clouds his judgement, and season after season ends because the game has passed defensive coordinator Dom Capers by. Well, Ron is guilty of the same. He accepts the status quo, and while this team has outperformed projections, the fact that we were 18 games over, but have lost that, and the lead we had--much of that because of poor baseball fundamentals that could be corrected--should not be lost. This team was good enough to beat every other team to 50 wins. That's not a fluke. But when we are not playing at our best, we simply are not good enough to overcome one mistake after another. The Brewers cannot beat a good team in more than one way, and I feel it's high time we correct that.
  10. Did I miss something? When were we "at the top"? Did I sleep through us winning the World Series? Because being atop your own division doesn't qualify for "being at the top". Not even close. I have no problem with what either of them said, but I thought that part of Khris's comment was a little silly. The Seahawks might say staying on the top is hard, or the Red Sox in baseball.
  11. Wow, RRR used only 6 pitchers tonight. That has to be some sort of record.
  12. This is going to be a rough time to be a Wisconsin sports fan. Brewers collapsing, Packer d looks brutal, Badgers looked awful. Then, there's the Bucks. LOLOLOLOL
  13. So, Gomez is out two weeks, and Braun is gone for a few days for the birth of his first child. Can we just have Lucroy and Ramirez bat twice in an inning?
  14. It is, you're right. But Melvin should have pretty much known that Prince was leaving, and we were going to need another first baseman. Now, nobody could have known that Mat Gamel would blow out his knee--twice--but Gamel shouldn't have been the top first baseman in the organization entering the 2012 season. Melvin should have had a capable, if not spectacular, first baseman to take over for Prince. This is 2014 now, and he still hasn't found anything but stopgaps. That's three years he's had. He was able to get Zack Greinke, and CC Sabathia, even if they ended up being just rentals. But he couldn't find anybody for first base? Unlike a starting pitcher, who goes every 4th or 5th day, a first baseman is out there day in, day out. A first baseman is one of the most important positions in a lineup. He's supposed to be a big time run producer. Yet the total production from our first basemen the last three seasons has been near or a the very bottom of baseball. Hard to win when you are getting next to nothing offensively from first base. When I saw that Lyle Overbay and Mark Reynolds were the two candidates for first base in 2014, I literally laughed.
  15. All I know is if we miss the playoffs, and end up under .500 after being 18 games over .500 at one point, then the entire coaching staff should be fired. And no, I am not overreacting. I know the players on the field ultimately decide a game. But if our coaching staff, the guys who are being paid to evaluate those players, to identify and correct the mistakes they see, can't do anything at all to help save this team from completely imploding, then they do not need to be coaching in Milwaukee. This is a complete implosion. We're about to fall to 73-66. 7 games over .500. We were the first team in the Majors to 50 wins. That was on June 27th. We were 50-32. We are about to be 73-66. That means the Milwaukee Brewers have gone 23-34 since getting win #50. We are in a free fall that I would think to be pretty much unprecedented, even for this franchise.
  16. Wow, this is just terrible. He was a really young guy, too. I don't recall reading that he had any real medical issues. My heart goes out to his family. Hell, my heart goes out to the entire Brewer organization. He was a well liked, well respected man, and he had a great relationship with the players that he drafted. A really bad week just got a whole lot worse. My God, what else could go wrong?
  17. LOL at this lineup. We lose the first two, so let's just give them the sweep without a fight. Wow.
  18. What an embarrassment this team has become. From 18 games over .500 at one point to losing 7 in a row, and sliding out of playoff contention. I'm sorry, but if this doesn't get turned around, and fast, then somebody needs to get fired. Inexcusable.
  19. Translation. I guaranteed something would happen in large part because something else I guaranteed would make the first guarantee more guaranteeable. And when the second guarantee didn't happen, I abandoned my first guarantee, and made up an entirely new guarantee.
  20. Brewers and Badgers have me looking to drink tonight, and I can't have any alcohol. That's just wrong.
  21. The results over there are much more satisfying Yep -- Bucky fully deserves the 17-7 lead so far. Let's go red! Ya, I'm watching the Badgers. 173 yards of rushing in the first half thus far with 4:32 to go until halftime.
  22. Peavey is 3-13 on the season. Do you guys think that, I don't know, we could get a hit please?
  23. I heard somebody on another broadcasting team talking about Braun's thumb injury. He said anybody that has ever played, and hit the ball off the very end of the bat knows the very uncomfortable vibration it makes in your hand. It's painful, and it just feels weird. He said that Braun feels something like that most every time he connects. The nerve is angry, like a beehive, and any contact at all makes it angry all over again. I've done that more than a few times. Even after I stopped playing baseball when I was 16, before I hurt my back, I'd love going to the batting cages. When you hit the ball not on the barrel, but the very end, it feels like the bat just vibrates straight down, and the area right under your thumb feels like it's grabbed a live wire. It's very uncomfortable. God, I hope this will heal up in the off season. Brauny's been through so much already-a lot of it he's brought upon himself, but I think he's more than paid his dues. I want to see the real Ryan Braun back at the plate, and you all know he does, too. I honestly don't know how he's hit 17 home runs with that injury.
