  1. I'm listening to this. Sports Radio 1250 WSSP Milwaukee. The. fans. are. ticked.
  2. Somebody give me a link to where I can hear Ron Roenicke's post game presser please. I thought I had bookmarked it, but I can't see it.
  3. You would think that a team with the likes of Carlos Gomez and Jean Segura would try to take advantage of Molina's being out. I guess not though. And it's fitting that the Brewers die swinging for the fences, just like they always do. It's never any different. This team is incapable of playing small ball. Guy on first, and nobody can move him over, even with the outfield playing deep. Please tell me I'm wrong, Rickie.
  4. If we don't come back here, the Brewers will fall to 1-10 in their last 11 games. Come on, guys! Ok, A Ram! Way to get the rally started. Time for a 2 run bomb by Brauny to win it!
  5. By the way, for those that did not look at our "Today in baseball history" thread today, as Dead Simmons already alluded to earlier.... http://imageshack.com/a/img823/811/bvud.png A slim Babe Ruth in 1914, before the pinstripes Today marks the 100th anniversary of Babe Ruth's Major League debut. On July 11, 1914, Babe Ruth made his first career start for the Boston Red Sox against the star-studded Cleveland Naps. Ruth threw seven innings, allowing 8 hits and 2 earned runs on his way to his first career win. He also went 0-2 at the plate, and was even lifted for a pinch hitter, Duffy Lewis, late in the game. The Naps featured two of the game's greatest hitters, "Shoeless" Joe Jackson, and Napolean Lajoie, who joined Cleveland in 1902. Lajoie was so beloved in Cleveland that the team adopted the nickname of the Naps in his honor starting in 1903. After the 1914 season, the team changed its nickname to the Indians. The Naps also featured another famous player at shortstop, Ray Chapman. Those that have studied baseball history will know that Chapman is the first and only baseball player to die from injuries sustained in a game. He was hit in the left temple by a Carl Mays fastball on August 16, 1920. He died the next day after suffering a fractured skull and hemorrhaging. After Chapman's death, the game itself saw several changes. The ball, which was allowed to remain in play no matter how dark it was, was to be replaced by a new ball whenever it became dirty. Interestingly enough, however, batting helmets were not required after Chapman's death. It wasn't until 1937 when Mickey Cochrane suffered a near-fatal fractured skull that two teams, Cleveland and Philadelphia began testing out batting helmets.
  6. I don't like using Will Smith here. This is his 49th game pitched already. I think he needs a few days off, but what do I know?
  7. Or not. I swear that the Brewer broadcast team could just take tape of one Segura at bat, and show it every time up. Outside of the shortstop being different, the end result always seems to be the same. One thing I seem to remember Jean doing a lot last year was hitting the ball to the opposite field. Can somebody point me to a site that would show his spray chart for 2013? I don't know if Baseball Reference tracks where the balls are hit under splits, but I would love to see it represented graphically. Because I think that's been one of Jean's biggest faults this season.
  8. He really has turned it around since the first month of the season. And that's one of the reasons I am hopeful that Jean Segura will turn it around, too. You have to believe seeing Khris turn it around will give him some hope. I don't know if it's something Khris did on his own. I will hope that Jerry Narron had something to do with it so he can take the same approach with Jean. Now would be a great time for Jean to get a hit. Give us a lead, and give Jean a mental boost.
  9. Oof, that was a bad pitch to swing at. By the way, is this the first time these unis have been worn? I don't recall ever seeing them before. Come on, Logan. Another triple would be beautiful here!
  10. Hi everybody. Ok, Brauny is on. Let's get him home, and retake the lead!!! Krush, make the pitcher throw strikes!
  11. I added Smith to my fantasy team the same time he went from unhittable to...this. I accept responsibility for this dumpster fire.
  12. While I haven't gone quite as far as putting one of his quotes in my signature, I have bookmarked this comment: Citation clicky If he's thinking World Series, he better hurry the heck up and make those "huge upgrades" now, or we'll be switching from buyers to sellers.
  13. I stumbled across a discussion about Major League players not being as athletic as some other sports, and saw Prince's pictures (well, one of them) for the first time last night. My God, I think one of his legs are as big as all of me put together. His calf muscles are huge. And yes, they have been pretty rough on Prince down here. I live about 20 minutes from the Ballpark In Arlington. That's what Ranger fans, well, Dallas area sports fans in general, like to do. They swear they are the best sports fans in America, but nobody will jump on one of their players, or former players faster than the fans down here. When Josh Hamilton went to the Angels, some of the stuff I read online was shocking. When Kinsler left Texas, and went to the Tigers, again, some of the "fans" were ripping him a new one. But Prince has gotten some of the worst. It cracked me up and made me angry at the same time when they claimed he was lazy. A few actually said that he took days off because he was too fat. How many 160 game seasons did he have in a row? My God, he's missed 13 games in 8 years. They're awful down here. Dallas area sports fans are the very definition of fair weather fans. When Prince starts hitting home runs, though, they'll love him.
  14. Could Masahiro Tanaka be the next added to this list? Let's hope not. Tanaka placed on DL with elbow inflammation. I hope the MRI is negative, but, if he does end up needing Tommy John, what does that say about pitching workloads in the Major Leagues? Only Felix Hernandez, Matt Cain and Yu Darvish have thrown more pitches before their age 25 season than Tanaka. The difference being that Japanese pitchers only throw once every seven days. Could pitching frequency be a key factor in injury that hasn't been considered? I don't think he's throwing any harder since coming to America. Maybe, just maybe, it's the amount of time between starts that's the key. He's been given extra days off when possible since joining the Yankees, but that's not always been possible. Interesting, to say the least. I just hope he's able to avoid going under the knife. But there's no doubt he's been less effective in his last few starts.
  15. Segura right now is one of the worst every day players in baseball. And it kills me to say that, because I'm a big Jean Segura fan. All his athletic abilities aside, and baseball potential aside, I like him as a person. You never hear him complaining, he never sulks. It's funny, but I liken him to Rickie Weeks. Even when they have played poorly, they're not a bad in the clubhouse. There are players who have had slumps and were impossible to be around. Manny Ramirez and Albert Belle are two that come to mind. But Segura, for all the ground balls to shortstop, acknowledges that he's not playing well. All I want to see from him is a willingness to change his approach at the plate. I don't need him to produce like he did in the first half last year. He's playing great defense, so there is that. But he needs to change his approach at the plate. Maybe he should try to hit to the opposite field more. Because right now, it seems every ball is a grounder to short or third base.
  16. I just wanted to say that I agree with you. I don't think this team is simply being aggressive. They're not playing smart baseball. A couple games ago it was mistakes on the bases that cost us. Now we can't even get on base to make base running mistakes. Whoever our hitting coach is, they need to get through to our hitters, because nothing is working. Segura is awful. He's a black hole, and he's hitting second? Sit him down for a while. He doesn't deserve to be playing right now.
  17. Per ESPN, the Phillies are: 25th in runs scored 28th in batting average 27th in on base percentage 29th in slugging percentage 20th in ERA 17th in quality starts 22nd in WHIP 16th in BAA And they're one win from sweeping a four game series from the Brewers at home after losing nine in a row. Ouch.
  18. The problem is this team is filled with a bunch of free swingers. They just go up there hacking away. It really doesn't matter who is up there, they are all essentially the same. Somebody posted a graphic last night that the Brewers had four of the hitters taking the fewest average pitches per at bat in the Majors. Sometimes aggressiveness is called for. But it seems to me our hitters don't know when patience is called for. Their approach is always the same.
  19. This team, regardless of Braun being out or not, should have won this series. They're at home, the Phillies had been on a long losing streak, and we were one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the league coming into the series. I don't know quite what's wrong with this team, but I do think putting Segura in the #2 spot, and giving Lucroy the day off when we've already lost the first two games of four...is not wise. It's possible that if we lose this series, and play like this in the Cardinal series, we could be out of first place when the All Star break hits. They have to turn it around right now. And I believe they will. Let's all send positive thoughts to Milwaukee, guys. Believe in this team.
  20. Is it... http://big.assets.huffingtonpost.com/beetlejuice.gif this guy?
  21. Perspective. Thank you, topper09er. We're still in first place, and we will get better. And sooner rather than later would suit me just fine.
  22. Down to a 3 game lead. Can we start the All Star break now please?
