  1. Beautiful 7th by Wooten there. Ok, boys, lets get some insurance runs!
  2. http://www.reclinergm.com/images/Al-Simmons.jpg Al Simmons started his career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1924, hitting .308 with 102 RBI. The next season, Al was the MVP runner up, hitting .387 with 122 runs, 253 hits, 43 doubles, 12 triples, 24 home runs, 129 RBI and 392 total bases. In one of the worst MVP votes in Major League history, he lost to Roger Peckinpaugh, shortstop for the American League Champion Washington Senators. Peckinpaugh hit .284 with 67 runs scored, 4 home runs and 64 RBI. Simmons played 20 seasons in total, making stops with the Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, the aforementioned Senators, the Boston Bees, the Cincinnati Reds, and the Boston Red Sox. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1953, appearing on 199 of 264 ballots (75%).
  3. Ah yes, good ol' Kid Nichols. If I'd seen the trivia question, I'd have known that only because we had a topic about best Hall of Famers from our home state on my vintage baseball card forum. Of course, we all know who Wisconsin's best hitter is. http://imageshack.com/a/img849/8972/nxbt.png Milwaukee's own, the great Al Simmons. Lifetime .334 AVG, 2,927 hits, 307 home runs, 1,828 RBI.
  4. If we win this one, we'll have the most wins in the Majors, as the A's lost. They're 47-30. We'd be 48-31.
  5. All in all, a nice start for Yo going 6 and giving up one run. If we can hold them in the 7th, then we can get to Smith and K Rod.
  6. Yep, he sure is. I was thinking it was Addie Joss (just off the top of my head) but Nichols had, uh, a few more wins than Joss. Well, Addie can't be blamed for that, as he kind of...died.
  7. Evening, everybody. Remind me again, please. We're the team that's 16 games over .500 here, right?
  8. LOL, they're gushing about the Nationals starting rotation and bullpen. "Their rotation looks as good as any in baseball". They're 4 games over .500. Meanwhile, Milwaukee is 17 games above .500, and they're getting no love.
  9. Hey, maybe Braun can hurt something else tonight. Twisted ankle? Check. Thumb injury? Check. Abdominal muscle? Check. We'll put an ice cold Braun in the #2 spot again, even though it's not working. Come on, Ron.
  10. https://twitter.com/BBTN Voice your displeasure here as I just did. They're paying more attention to the darned hot dog race then the game. This is a prime example of why ESPN sucks.
  11. More talk about Tim in the sausage race. Hey, idiots, there's a game going on here...
  12. Braun's going to be out a few days as he supposedly rolled his ankle. It's a relatively minor injury, according to ESPN, and he should be back mid week. I say good, let him have a few days off. He'd started 24 games in a row, and he's clearly not right. Maybe a few days off recharges his batteries. I don't believe that he's going to be relegated to "table setter status" the rest of his career. His numbers, outside of his average, are still pretty good. 27 extra base hits in 58 games, that's about on par with his career averages. That would be 75-80 in a full season. He's just hit a slump. A month ago he was raking with a .968 OPS. He'll rake again.
  13. I think Jean read Fangraphs before tonight's game. Ya, it was Coors Field, but he hit those two home runs a good long way.
  14. /nods in agreement. Usually this is how it starts for him, too. He gets on track just taking what they give him. Last hit, a double, was low and outside, and he hit it to the opposite field. This time, in the hole between the shortstop and third baseman. I'll take it!
  15. Nice! There you go, Ryan! Just take what they give you. 3 hits and 2 big RBIs his last two at bats. Need a big insurance run? Call the law firm of Ryan and Ryan.
  16. Man, Will Smith has ice in his veins. Let's get another run or two now, please!
