  1. I'm not worried at all. You are correct DM will be thinking WS at the trade deadline. Look for huge upgrades. LOL, right. How are we going to get "huge upgrades"? Who do we have that other teams would want? We don't have an Addison Russell waiting in the wings as trade bait.
  2. Now, I know that prospects don't always work out. BUT, the Cubs system is now stupid loaded. They have the #6 prospect in the game in Javier Baez. (SS) They have the #8 prospect in the game in Kris Bryant, a guy who is hitting .357 with 29 HR in 311 AA/AAA at bats thus far this season. (3B) They now have the #11 prospect in the game in Addison Russell. (SS) They have the #15 prospect in the game in Albert Almora. (OF) They have the #34 prospect in the game in pitcher CJ Edwards. They have the #41 prospect in the game in Jorge Soler. (OF) They have the #71 prospect in the game in Arismendy Alcantara (2B). They already have their first baseman of the future now in Anthony Rizzo, who is only 24. He's hitting .276 with 17 HR and 45 RBI, with a shiny .880 OPS. They also have Starlin Castro, who is also only 24, and he seems to have come into his own this season, hitting .290 with 11 HR and 50 RBI. The Cubs are going to be getting a lot of payback here very soon.
  3. It's ok, man. I'm trying to look for something positive myself, and I'm having a hard time doing so. I want to believe this team is as good as its record shows. Then I look at our schedule, and see we've gone 19-4 against the Pirates and the Rockies. Come on Brewers, wake up. Snap out of it, etc etc insert cliched rally cry here. Make me believe. Come back against a team that we should be beating at least half the time.
  4. That hanger from Kintzler still angers me. The situation, the pitch selection, how bad a pitch it really was, etc.. awful. Well, at least you don't have to worry about seeing Kintzler blowing a lead tonight There is that. Edit: Ooof, Segura's OPS is now .597.
  5. We're going to fall to 2-6 against a Reds team that will be 37-39 against the rest of the Majors. Wonderful.
  6. Meanwhile, the team that just beat us twice in Toronto got shutout for 12 innings in a 1-0 loss to Oakland.
  7. I don't know what's wrong with him right now. Yes, he's been awful. But I think at some point he'll get back on track. I refuse to believe that a full half season in the Majors playing at an All Star level was just a fluke. Will he be that good again? Maybe not. But I think he's capable of .280-.290 with a bunch of stolen bases and some halfway decent power. He doesn't need to hit his ceiling to be successful for us. But he needs to get off the floor, which he's been on for a while. It all comes down to plate discipline, which he is absolutely lacking right now. I wouldn't be against his being sent down to work on his hitting for a while, and letting Bianchi take over short for the time being. Bianchi offers next to nothing, but Segura's been giving us next to nothing anyway, so no loss there. And his approach at the plate needs looking at. Sometimes, just a tweak to a hitter's approach at the plate is all it takes. Look at this Mookie Betts guy Boston has. UL Washington (the old Royals shortstop) tweaked his batting stance and swing just a little, and he's been hitting lights out since then. It's the lead story in this month's Baseball America. Do the Brewers know any former shortstops that were great hitters? Hmm. Who could we possibly being in as a consult to work with Jean Segura?
  8. I'm quite please with what I'm seeing from Ryan Braun. I don't think he's quite 100%, as we're still not seeing him pulling a lot of balls with power to left field. I still think the oblique muscle is not quite fully healed. But he's doing a good job of using center and right field. He's got a six game hitting streak, hitting .400 (10 for 25) with 4 multi-hit games in his last five. In his last nine games, Brauny is 14 for his last 40 (.350) with 4 doubles, a triple and a home run. He's scored 9 runs and driven in 9 runs. He's sporting a nice .400 OBP/.575 SLG/.975 OPS line in the last nine. For the season, he's up to a .291 AVG with 11 home runs and 46 RBI. Though he hasn't hit for the average or power we're used to for the month, he's still been productive, driving in 19 runs for the month.
  9. The Brewers are the best team in baseball and will get even better when they call up Jeffress. No team worries me. I'll have whatever you're drinking, please.
  10. For the time being, yes, I'm good with keeping him there. He'll regain his power. I really think the abdominal muscle is still bothering him. He's been playing pretty much nonstop, and a pulled muscle doesn't heal without rest. I don't think he'll play at the ASG, even if he were selected as a backup. But 3-4 days of rest could help him. We saw him earlier in the year have a 2 and a 3 home run game. Unless some Marvell Universe villain has come down and sapped his strength, he'll recover.
  11. Hmm, it's the Scooter and Krush show. You know, the two guys from our minor league system that was so devoid of talent.
  12. LOL, all our big bats are out, and Strasburg is probably feeling he's got this in the bag. And Scooter says "relax, guys. I've got this". Wow!
  13. I agree that the bullpen performed well tonight. The guys he put out there did well. Fiers pitched, what, 4 innings? I thought he did well, too, until the home run. My comment was directed at Roenicke generally burning through his bullpen too quickly. I would rather have somebody come in and work a second inning if they only threw 9-12 pitches in the first inning, and in doing so, maybe somebody else in the pen doesn't have to work. My main concern for tomorrow is Lucroy. He basically caught two games tonight, and without the rest in between games that would come with a double header. We need his bat in the lineup tomorrow against Strasburg, and I'm thinking he won't be able to go. We'll see Maldonado behind the plate. With the home runs Estrada is going to give up, we need all our best bats in there to score some runs. The All Star break can't get here soon enough. I'd love to see some guys get a few days off to rest.
  14. Give me a break. I'm sorry, but was that not accurate? When the Nats got a lead, Soriano was ready to go. K Rod, on the other hand, got used in the ninth inning. Do you think that Roenicke does a good job managing the bullpen?
  15. Soft pop up to end the game. Fitting that our last out is a weak fly ball.
  16. That's the ballgame. Brewers offense has scored 2 runs in 25 innings against the Nationals. That's pretty sorry. And the Nats have their closer ready to go. I'd tell Ron Roenicke to take notes, but I'd be wasting my breath.
  17. Jesus H. I am so sick of seeing this team just hacking away at anything thrown up there. Segura, Braun, Gomez, Davis...it doesn't matter who we send up there, the Brewers are just hacking away.
  18. When was the last time Braun pulled a ball to left field for a home run? Anybody remember?
  19. What are you swinging at that for, Ryan? The ball was 10 feet off the plate. Come on.
  20. Ok, one more. http://williamgregory.net/images/JackKnocking.gif "Wake up, offense."
