  1. Oh yeah? I've got you beat. I had Peralta, Ryu and Teheran going tonight. Combined, their line tonight: 9 IP, 28 hits, 19 earned runs Edit: oh, and to top it off, my offense is 3 for 21 tonight. Home runs by Springer and Rizzo are all I have to smile about tonight.
  2. Well, unfortunately, we don't have many elite prospects to give up. Outside of Nelson, our cupboards are somewhat bare. That's not to say we have no talent in the minors, but none of the other prospects in our system have any wow factor that would allow us to add a premium pitcher. I just hope that by the time Jimmy Nelson comes up we still have a lead in the division.
  3. Yup, we were 19 games over .500 a week ago, and now we're 14 games over. Oh, and look. St. Louis won. Lead is down to 4 games.
  4. How can I watch (or listen) to this interview online? I am watching on the FSW post game show. I'm in Texas on MLB.tv, so I can't get that. I was looking for a radio station online I could stream the post game stuff.
  5. No, but that is why I am frustrated, everything in baseball is always the same. Same approach at the plate, no matter the score, inning, count baserunners etc. Same bullpen use, Smith 8th, KRod 9th, no matter the score, inning, count baserunners, next hitters etc. There is no situational baseball at all. Nail on the head here! If you were to turn on a Brewer game with nobody talking in the broadcast booth, and you were unable to see the score, you couldn't tell if we were behind or in the lead just by watching us at the plate. I want to believe in this team, guys. I really really do. It's just that I've been watching baseball for 34 years now, ever since I was 8 or 9 years old, and I see too many things that this team just does not do well to think we have any kind of a chance at getting to and winning the World Series. We're good at beating really bad teams (tonight notwithstanding), but we can't beat the good teams out there, and we can't consistently beat the good teams in our own division. No, I do not consider Pittsburgh a good team. They've finished above .500 once in the last century. This team cannot bunt...at all. This team cannot execute a hit and run successfully. This team makes too many mistakes running bases. And our manager is bad at managing games. He's especially bad at managing the bullpen. As was mentioned, he has his 7th inning guy, his 8th inning guy, and his closer. And he never mixes that up. It doesn't matter if Kintzler has given up a game winning home run to the other team three nights in a row. You can predict when he'll be up again, and you can pretty much predict what will happen. This team is watching its lead slip away, and we're getting nothing but the status quo from our manager and our GM. No moves are being made to make this team better. Even dumping Wang and bringing another pitcher up that could help this team right now would be a huge improvement. But nope. Because hey, left handed pitchers don't grow on trees, and some day down the road, he might, maybe, possibly could help us, and gosh darn it, it doesn't matter if we're in the heat of a pennant race right now with us in first place. We're going to hang on to this guy in the hopes that he may help us down the road. I come to this board every night in a good mood, happy, feeling positive, and after watching the Brewers for twenty minutes, I just feel like turning off the tv.
  6. Classic little dink shot, a harmless roller off the potent bat of Jean Segura to end the game. Hey, no problem. Nine game losing streak? Come to Milwaukee. We'll roll out the red carpet for ya, and get you back in the win column. Our lead in the central is slip slipping away.
  7. Great, let's get the guy in scoring position. Nice throw. /face palm
  8. That's just awful. Again, fundamental hitting. We don't have any. LOL, now I'm picking up the kid yelling "let's go Brewers". Now it's getting on my nerves, too.
  9. Since Gomez has started hitting some home runs, it seems like every time up there, he's trying to hit a home run. He's swinging for the seats every time. Our hitters need to be taken to a little league game on their off day. Maybe if they see some baseball fundamentals, it will rub off on them.
  10. I hate reading all the BS spewed about Ryan Braun now. People make it sound like Braun was never any good, that he's only been an All Star, and an MVP, because he's been taking steroids. They don't watch him on a daily basis, so they have no idea how incredible a baseball player he really is.
  11. Well, Braun showed up tonight, even though he's hurt. Too bad that the same cannot be said for most of his teammates. Come on, let's go, Brewers! This is a team that has lost nine in a row. You're telling me you can't beat these guys at home?????
  12. Same here. I've gotta tell ya, before I had back problems, I never really understood how debilitating a bad back could be. Now I get it, and I don't know how some of these guys with bad backs are able to go out there and play at all. A lot is said about Braun, but you can't say he doesn't put his everything into his game. There's no way he should be out there. But he knows how important these games are, and he's out there playing through the pain.
  13. Can we put him in the cleanup spot? Wow, Bianchi is 6 for 12 in his career with the bases loaded?! Come on Braun, how I would love to see you pull a bomb into the left field seats. It's been so long.
  14. Oh, phnxcrew, I just want you to know I am laughing my a-- off right now. I look at your avatar, and I get this mental picture of Hodor standing in the dugout, incapable of saying anything, of course, but "Hodor!", and how incredibly frustrated he must be with the Brewer offense right now. Hodor's smashing bats, and throwing helmets, just walking up and down the line yelling "Hodor! Hodor!"
  15. What's that line from "the Dark Knight Rises" about how it's the slow knife, the knife that takes its time, the knife that waits years without forgetting , then slips quietly between the bones? That's the Brewers. They might occasionally get your hopes up, but eventually, they screw it up somehow. They may be the first team in the Majors to get to 50 wins, giving their entire fan base the illusion that they could make a run at the World Series. Then something like Marco Estrada happens. No matter how badly he pitches, no matter how many home runs he gives up, no matter how painfully obvious it is to every person that holds the Brewers close to their heart, the only people that don't get it are the two men with the power to make a change, and take him out of the rotation. The slow knife. This goes on while Doug Melvin's inept bench slowly kills us. A bunch so devoid of talent. A collection of has beens and never beens that are warm bodies, nothing more. The Jeff Bianchis, the Lyle Overbays, the Yuni Betancourts, the Elian Herreras. The slow knife. Having 1/25th of our active roster wasted on a guy that may someday do something to help this franchise, but is completely useless now, giving us 15 innings in 86 games in a mop up role only. The slow knife. Slowly our lead slips away as our batters go up there game after game, week after week, hacking away, showing a lack of discipline that is so completely foreign to the other teams in the Majors. The slow knife that we are forced to watch as our lead, and our hopes, slowly slip away.
  16. I, too, am done with captain four bagger. I am sick and tired of seeing his name on the schedule, and not wondering to myself if we're going to win his start, but how many home runs he's going to give up. Melvin and Roenicke need to move Estrada out of the rotation, and they need to dump Wang, and move another pitcher into the 25 man roster that can help this team.
  17. Josh Harrison is hitting .298, 33 runs scored, 12 doubles, 4 triples, 5 HR and 25 RBI. .335 OBP, .453 SLG, .788 OPS. This is who Matheney picks instead of Braun. Braun is hitting .288, 45 runs, 17 doubles, 5 triples, 11 HR, 49 RBI. .340 OBP, .507 SLG, .847 OPS. No way is he more deserving than Braun.
  18. But hey, we are carrying Wang on our roster under the assumption he might be something down the road! Genius! It's not like that roster spot could be taken up by somebody that could actually help us while we are in first place, trying to get to the playoffs! No! Let's keep the human punching bag in there for those days we get blown out! Genius!!
  19. I suppose it's good Braun is not going. Hopefully sitting on his butt for a few days will get his batteries recharged, rest up his calf, his thumb, his abdominal muscles and back, and have a strong second half.
  20. Josh Harrison .298 AVG 5 HR and 25 RBI over Braun is a joke.
  21. The lineup the Cubs have in another two years is going to be downright scary.
  22. [sarcasm]I know who you're thinking, but I'm pretty sure Betancourt is still under contract in Japan.[/sarcasm] Touché, SRB.
