  1. late July was a guesstimate, but going off of what designates Super-2 status: "a player with at least two years but less than three is eligible for arbitration if he has accumulated at least 86 days of service during the immediately preceding season and ranks in the top 22% in total service in the two-to-three class" he's already got 30 days of service time to date (29 last year and 1 this year so far, right?), there are 73 days (games + days off) of service remaining after the All-Star game. if 86 is the "magic number" to get below they would have to wait until the August 5th home stand against the Giants to ensure missing that extra year of arbitration. If I am mistaken on this let me know, its confusing, but that is my understanding.
  2. Estrada is tied for the MLB lead in HR's this season with 26, tied with 3 others. oh wait, those 3 are all batters in the minors Nelson has given up a career 26 home runs... over 5 SEASONS.
  3. Yes! "Bow-tista. I mean, Bautista, he had a homerun today, its Bow-tista when he doesnt"
  4. god the back and forth between Block and Hamilton is... kind of amazing.
  5. pretty sure someone else covered this, but I cannot imagine they'll replace Estrada with Nelson before his super 2 cutoff date in mid/late July. so we are looking at potentially 2 more Estrada starts (7/7 and 7/12) before the All-Star break, and then his next scheduled start could be pushed all the way until July 23rd if they start the day after the break with the top of the rotation order.
  6. Colby Rasmus Estrada'd one, too.
  7. Bautista back after a week, Estrada's one off of the 2nd deck.
  8. I don't see either the Reds or Pirates as that big of threats. Pirates rotation isn't nearly what it was last year, and even with Polanco, who has all of 3 extra base hits in 80 ABs, their lineup doesn't compare with the Brewers. As for Reds, does anyone really believe 33 year old mostly career minor leaguer/middle reliever like Alfredo Simon can repeat his first half? Reds will certainly be in the wild card mix, with that awesome back end of the bullpen of Broxton and Chapman, but if the Brewers stay healthy, I don't see the Reds making up 7 games. The pirates problem is they arent coming through in clutch hitting, RISP w/ 2 outs they're hitting .217/.350/.650. their pitching has actually been rather good this year considering they lost AJ Burnett, Wandy was DFA'd, Liriano and Cole have been on the DL and they've been operating with AAAA arms for the last month in Cumpton/Pimentel with a little Vanimal action thrown in there to boot. I dont think many thought Volquez would still be on the team at this point, either, but thanks to MLB injuries and TJ surgery to Tallion, he's still getting the ball every 5th day. The pitching has kept them in games, their bats have just let them down. they're 19-15 in one run games
  9. Bianchi is a career AAAA guy. good enough everyday in AAA to get called up, but not good enough to stick in MLB.
  10. Brroklyn will receive draft picks in 2015 and 2019 from Milwaukee. http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/11155852/milwaukee-bucks-brooklyn-nets-agree-deal-jason-kidd
  11. UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, so over Bianchi
  12. man, this team, who has 51 wins at the end of june, is really handicapped by Wang.... c'mon... they've won 51 games! Wang has REALLY hurt them!
  13. its not an odd year
  14. Gomez' career slash in the minors over 1351 at bats - .278/.340/.735
  15. please no to bianchi
  16. this video is awesome
  17. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/06/padres-claim-irving-falu.html Padres Claim Irving Falu From Brewers By Jeff Todd [June 26, 2014 at 1:23pm CDT] The Padres have claimed utilityman Irving Falu off waivers from the Brewers, reports MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy (via Twitter). With the move, the club has opened a spot on its 40-man roster. Falu, 31, saw only 12 hitless plate appearances with Milwaukee this season, and has just 107 career MLB plate appearances. He has spent the vast majority of the past six seasons (including this one) at the Triple-A level, where he owns a lifetime .284/.343/.365 line over 2,671 plate appearances. Falu has spent most of his time as a middle infielder, though he also has a significant number of games under his belt at third base and right field.

  19. Gallardo is having a great June, but these 6/7 inning 100-120 pitch games are frustrating!

  21. whelp! we're 1/5th of the way there!
  22. lets not forget that they play 7 against Milwaukee in September
  23. in my mind RRR gave a Coach Taylor'eque level speech at the beginning of the season... I feel like it went something like this: Coach Taylor: A few of you have been here. A few of you have not. One thing we all have to do tonight, we’ve got to focus. The game plan, the fundamentals, gentlemen, advancing on the bases' what we’re going to be doing out there. And listen, fellas, there’s a joy to this game, is there not? There’s a passion, there’s a reason why we’re all out here. Other than the fact the pride that it gives us and the respect that it demands we love to play the game so let’s go out there and have fun tonight. Do you understand? Because tomorrow, if you give 100% of yourself tonight people are going to look at you differently. People are going to think of you differently. And I promise you you’re going look and think differently about yourself. Clear eyes. Full Hearts. Torts: Can’t Lose.
