  1. LuCroy was doing awesome before he got hurt, no doubt, but he was in for a market correction. If you think he'll be putting up the same numbers when he gets back you're asking too much. Until that hot streak before he got hurt, he was a career 8 hitter. The 5 hitter has to protect the clean up spot, otherwise teams will not pitch to the clean up spot. Hart is perfect for that role. If LuCroy keeps up the solid OBP then he can take the 2 spot, otherwise, as bad as it may sound, you have to put Weeks in the 2 hole. Weeks maybe batting below the mendoza line, but his OBP isn't the worst because he's been taking a lot of walks (leads the team in Walks by alot actually). That's what you need in the 2 hole. Otherwise I like your lineup. Mine would be the same sans what I mentioned.
  2. I'm sure he did, but that's more/less good ol' Braun PR talk as usual. Braun never talks smack or complains. Did he say that after Kemp said he wasn't part of the team or before?
  3. Braun leads the NL in HR's (22) Kemp yesterday picked himself (12), Giancarlo Stanton (19), Carlos Beltran(20) and Carlos Gonzalez (17) to represent the NL in the HR contest. Salty over MVP much?
  4. LaRussa was plenty aware that Greinke could have pitched. Remember last year during the NLCS when Greinke did that interview, saying he and the Brewers didn't like the Cardinals, and also said something along the lines of how "no one likes the cardinals" and what not. I think that's why LaRussa snubbed him. I don't doubt LaRussa purposely snubbed Cueto either. Greinke is 2nd in the league in WAR, 2nd in FIP (was 1st before last night), and 2nd in the league in xFIP (was also 1st before last night). That's a hard snub. The fan voting is always garbage. I remember when Barry Bonds was named starter of the AS team even though he spent the entire 1st half of the season on the DL. Same with when Cal Ripken would start ever year, even though some years he was batting like .220 or 2.30. Can't take the fan voting away because then fans lose interest if their fan favorites aren't there and MLB does not want that. Just something we all have to deal with.
  5. According to what I read on twitter, he's going to make 2 starts in AA Mississippi, then the Braves are planning on putting him right into the rotation if everything goes well. Seems as if they're rushing him right into the lineup, but apparently he built up his arm strength himself over the past few months and is ready. Should be interesting. Jon Heyman put out a bit today saying Greinke is interested in going to the Braves. That'll be something if the Braves have both Sheets and Greinke in their rotation.
  6. Fiers getting in and getting it done (so far) this year is great on so many levels. Not only is he doing well filling in for injured guys, but he gives the team hope for next year. There is a solid chance that the Brewers won't resign Greinke or Marcum. Pipe dream of resigning them both. Wolf is an option, but unless he turns himself around there's no way the team picks up his $10M club option. Assuming Fiers doesn't completely implode between now and the rest of the season, I'd say he's almost a lock for next years rotation. I know a lot of people are already including Thornburg in next years rotation, but I'd much rather he got some more AAA time in. He was optioned to Nashville after his spot start against the Jays, but has yet to pitch there due to injury. I am a huge fan of not rushing talent up to the bigs, especially pitching talent.
