  1. I'm basing my assumption off of what Melvin said as far as giving the young arms a shot next year and seeing what we have in them. I'm also going off of Melvin saying that this years payroll was an "over budget" payroll and that next years payroll will be between $80-$90M, not $100M like this year. that, and I don't see any FA SP that the Brewers can/will sign that will make a significant enough difference in the rotation. I am also assuming Fiers takes a step back. I hope he's sub 3 ERA good, but if I had to bet, I'd say he's closer to a 4 ERA next year. Like I said before, I see 2013 as a year where the Brewers see what they have with their young guys, and then 2014 as a year where they plug holes and seriously contend. I consider myself an informed Brewer fan. As an informed brewer fan, I cannot seriously say I think the Brewers will contend in 2013 without a lot of luck and guys playing (pitching) over their head. You guys may not think I am an informed brewer fan, that's fine, but I'm just saying it how I see it.
  2. 3 spots? Gallardo/Fiers and.... I realize Thornton/Peralta/Rogers/Estrada/Narveson can all contend for the other spots, but I'm fairly sure the only locks are Gallardo and Fiers.
  3. The Brewers have too many xfactors. Too many xfactors = need luck - young SP's that we don't know how they'll pan out. - don't know how (or even if) Doug will fix the bullpen I think the starting lineup will be solid and there won't be many, if any holes or xfactors in the starting lineup, which is good, but MLB is a pitching favored league now a days and you need solid pitching to contend. As of right now we don't know if the Brewers have solid pitching in 2013 cause of all the xfactors.
  4. I saw that too! Needless to say, smart move by the Brewers. The jsonline article reads like the Brewers were trying to move Wolf, not no one wanted him. Be interesting to see if anyone picks him up for the min.
  5. I have no "negativity" towards the Brewers. I don't have insanely high expectations either. I highly doubt I'm the only person who posts on this board who doesn't see the brewers contending next year. That's not being negative, that's being real. as far as my "extremely low expectations such as for their payroll management", I thought I was with the majority in saying their payroll would be between $80-$90M next year? Did I miss something? Does everyone think the Brewers are a $115M payroll team like that one guy?
  6. is that really what you hope for? a 4ish ERA? He's capable of maintaining a mid 3's ERA with a K per inning k9.
  7. Ransom isn't that bad, but I agree since he won't be around next year and the crew are out of it this year I agree that the SS spot (or INF utility spot) should be filled by Bianchi or some other young farm talent.
  8. Same stuff Braun (didn't) use.
  9. Because of how MLB used to have such a bad reputation as far as roiderz go. McGwire and Sosa put MLB back on the map after the lockout, but they did it via juicing. Not saying there aren't rampant PED's in the NFL or other sports, but MLB will always get recognized as the sport that was full of roiderz at one time.
  10. why? There isn't a player in baseball who could get busted for taking PED's and surprise me. If Jonathon LucrOy got busted today it would not surprise me at all. I think anyone who finds anyone go got caught taking PED's naive, seriously. I'm not saying that to be a troll or a knob, I'm just saying, let's be real. Look how many guys took PED's, jacked up their numbers, and got nice paychecks/recognition because of it. Can all of you honestly say that if you were in the minors, on the verge of making the majors but just needed to do a bit more, you wouldn't dabble if you thought you could get away with it? I would. That's why so many minor league guys get busted. They're the ones really looking for the money (not that guys in the pros aren't).
  11. what did the brewers get for him? cash right?
  12. I bet there's lots of MLB'ers who dabble in PED's. That's why I'm never naive to anyone being caught, Braun included. I think a lot of MLB players just dabble in and out with PED's, hoping to miss the random tests when they're on them. Dan Patrick said the hottest PED in the minor league system is a PED that lasts 24 hours, and then is completely out of your system. With technology now a days there could be all sorts of PED's similar to that. Maybe one thatss gone within a couple of days or a week. I think those are the types of PED's players do now a days, just a guess though.
  13. We've been saying that for 2 months now and he still hasn't managed to do it. Personally I gave up on that opportunity, and I'd rather see Ax/Henderson in the 8th/9th inning roles from here on out if it's in save opp territory. Even if KRod would string something together, I'm fairly sure most teams are going to look at it and say too little too late and look back on his bad streak.
  14. In all seriousness, this season is over. The crew are 18.5 games back. Let Ax and Henderson handle 8th and 9th inning roles the rest of the year to work out bugs/win position/etc. No reason to even bother letting KRod in the game after the 7th inning, if at all, since he's a goner.
  15. Hoffman is a committed San Diego Padre office guy.
  16. I really hope doug doesn't go out and overpay for a Gagne/Hoffman in the offseason to close. I'd be fine with letting Axford and Henderson duel it out next year for the 9th inning spot. I think either or can get their stuff together. Rest of the bullpen can be DFA'ed right now for all I care.
  17. I just remember reading up on him when I heard we required him for Kotteras. He's never been anything worthwhile. Maybe me pooping on him right there reverses your jinx and he pans out now.
  18. yup, my bad, I looked up Miguel De Los Santos. either way, before being traded and heading to Nashville, here are De Los Santos numbers this year 7.25ERA 1.806WHIP and while he has a ERA of 1.80 so far, his WHIP is 1.4. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=deloss001fau
  19. Gotta keep Wolf in the rotation. He's the only guy we got that throws in the high 40's http://filesmelt.com/dl/wolf2.gif
  20. De Los Santos is getting rocked in AA. and C'mon, Gamel for Belisle? We could have gotten Belisle for Kotteras.
  21. You won't find that type of production. You're right. It's also probable that the Brewers won't contend in 2013. At least I don't think they will. Hart is gone come 2014 and Aramis is slated to make $16M in 2014. Shed that money now and we'll see what we have in the young guys during 2013, then in 2014 Doug can spend bank on filling the needed holes and boom, guaranteed world series run.
  22. Peavy is like Sheets, except even more injury prone.
  23. Loe tanked one not too long ago. It's been mostly Ax and KRod cause the starters have been going 6-7 strong. The starters aren't really giving the middle relief a chance to blow the game. The few times they did, Ax came in early and did a solid job and Henderson shut the door.
