  1. Swarzak always reminds me of Ike Barinholtz. Dude is funny.
  2. You'll never know. I would have if my starter was asking for the ball, yes. But you can never know for sure how it would've turned out.
  3. How can you? It's not different than a nasty hop in the IF.
  4. it's cute that you think Phillips will see the field over Broxton or Santana. Hell, he probably won't even be ahead of Perez.
  5. Broxton. Frustrating player, much like a lot of them.
  6. Unbelievably, that's more than they got for Scooter. Tells ya something doesn't it?!?
  7. Not really. His BABIP is .305 which is a little low but not ridiculously off his career norms, which at this point in his career are likely going to trend to the lower side. There's a reason, actually a lot of reasons there wasn't trade interest in him this year. He's been hitting the ball hard at times in this stretch and popping up at others. 15-20 HR and 110-120 games definitely seems about right this year. I guess 'special hitter' depends on your definition but I don't look at him as one of the elites in MLB anymore. He was so snake bitten for about a two week period. Drop in the 8 more hits that he probably should have had and boom he's at his career norms of .300BA/.900OPS Hitters like him rarely disappoint. They're special. Consistency is very hard to find at that level. That's why I still call him special. So many guys have 1-3 good seasons and you never hear their name again.
  8. August 12th against the Reds. Before that it was July 22nd against the Phillies. Before that it was July 14th against the Phillies. Interesting that 7 of his 13 home runs this year have come against the Phillies or Reds. While Braun needs to do a better job with RISP, adambr2 is overreacting a bit here. He hit 30 a year ago. 25 a year before that. Is he in a slump at the moment? Sure. But just a week ago many places reported how he had his highest hit velocity and line drive rate of his career and was just in a bad luck streak. He still is a very special hitter. Unfortunately this season hasn't been of all much luck to him. Hopefully that turns around down the stretch.
  9. The day off is what set this trainwreck in motion.
  10. Espino was terrible. Good story or not, he didn't belong.
  11. Braun another failed chance at a run in scoring position. Counsell lost some faith he had from me tonight with Perez leading off. Flat out stupid. Not one reasonable reason for it. Perez is not good.
  12. They would be silly to move on from Cobb this season. While his production has declined (an injury and the emergence of Adams at the #2), he still fits a role and his $10mil wouldn't be used to better the team in any other area anyways. He is trusted by Rodgers and one of his closer friends. He also provides us depth in the return department and backfield. I don't buy that we will see a bunch of two-TE sets. We will see Bennett split out and Kendricks fill in. They have Rodgers in his prime with some great targets. He will put up video game numbers once again and it will be up to the defensive players to decide whether or not they want to win a Super Bowl.
  13. Brinson is the guy I'm worried about. Braun has been injury prone later in his career while Brinson has at a very young age. Doesn't bode well for his future as a starter.
  14. I recorded the game and went to bed. My brain fooled me. I honestly must have dreamed that Jesus Aguilar knocked in the winning runs in the 8th. I even had an image of what that looked like looking at my phone in the middle of the night. The brain is a crazy thing. Back to reality though, the Brewers had some hard hit balls and weren't rewarded. It's not an excuse as they just need to start getting the job done but the definitely have been a bit snake bitten.
  15. Right now: LF- Braun CF- Broxton RF- Santana Brinson and Phillips waiting in the wings. I bring this up because Braun is a 120-130 game player when completely healthy. Brinson has been injury prone his entire career so far, only playing in 100+ games twice. Maybe we do keep Broxton and Phillips and just let the healthiest players play?
  16. I think another poster mentioned this (and I could be wrong) but that if they do that, the Brewers are on the hook with paying him a lot more money than they would if they just have him ride the rest of the season out. Might get the MLB wage for 60 days?
  17. For me it is more about what they have accomplished prior their poor season. I would rather take a shot on those three guys returning close to their form than continuing on a with a guy like Drake or Torres. For me it is not really about the hindsight about this. Yes, it is easier to say now because they are having success but it still boils down to the fact that there were guys out there for us to nab that could have helped.
  18. This. You are the one going over the top. I never have suggested that he is a bad GM. We should be able to discuss his mistakes and shortcomings as well as his successes. Unfortunately anytime they are brought up, someone like yourself has to come running to his defense. He could have added Jeffress, Swarzark (which I was in favor of as well) AND any one of the three above and it would have helped this season while not giving up the farm system to do so. That is something he whiffed on IMO as well as some others I'm sure. Maybe you don't want to see our playoff odds increase this season but others do. It's not out of this world that this team could get hot again offensively and sneak into the playoffs. Will it happen? Meh, probably not. If you can't discuss a topic without being condescending to the people who have a difference of an opinion, why even respond? Do you feel better or smarter that you think you are right? Just simply discuss and leave the rest of the crap to the wayside. Got old awhile ago.
  19. Two of those three were so god awful they got released, yet we were supposed to go out and get them and just assume that they were going to turn into decent relievers again? Your right, just trot out Drake/Torres and hope for the best. Those guys are proven. Why would it have been a big deal to try giving them a fresh start? Sure seems to be working where they are now.
  20. Condescending like you know the future of any of these players or how the season would've played out. While I list three pitchers that were picked up for cheap this season that possibly could have helped our season. One of which I was told by another poster that he was done, finished. So I guess the future doesn't always come true. No one thought the Brewers would contend this year. If you did, you're lying. If the team would have gone out and grabbed a bunch of rental relievers, people would have been up in arms about it being a waste of money. But I guess hindsight is 20/20 First, even without the possibility to contend finding good relievers no matter what gives you a chance or it gives you nice trading pieces, so that should be something Stearns is always trying to do. And the guys I listed: Neshek, Dyson, Romo were traded for some cash and a PTBNL. All three maybe wouldn't have been a fit but to not get one of those guys AFTER we seen that we were in the mix is just not a great sign front Stearns. That's why I said I hope he learns from his mistakes. Could have really helped this team.
