  1. I'd love to be one of the players that is only starting because Macha's boss is forcing him too. When Macha signed the contract did he not understand what the teams philosophy was going to be? When you look at the roster and how many players were home grown, didn't Macha wonder how they got there? You have to play the young guys in order for them to be veterans.
  2. This may belong in another thread but considering it was brought up during the PC... How can Macha be back next year? He was given a 2 year contract IIRC. You can't bring him back in the last year of the contract and deal with the questions the whole year. You either have to extend his contract in the offseason or fire him. Unless things change drastically in the next 6 weeks I don't see him getting a contract extension. Especially considering the lineup is likely to included Gamel, Escobar and maybe even Cain. He doesn't seem like the right manager for that team.
  3. There's nothing wrong with sitting Escobar tonight. Macha made it sound like if it wasn't for DM telling him he expects Escobar to play atleast 4 times a week, he wouldn't.
  4. It sounds like it pains Macha just thinking about playing Escobar. How much sense does it make to have a manager that does not want to play young players on a team that has to rely on it's prospects as heavily as the Brewers do? Escobar not playing tonight.
  5. Anyone else get the idea that DM's answer to "should Macha feel nervous?" made it seem like Macha won't be back?
  6. I went back and forth with whether or not to post that. Lima time...
  7. Hey alright! That home run will justify starting a .200 hitter out of position for another month atleast!
  8. http://images.lonestarball.com/images/admin/joselimawife.jpg I miss Jose Lima. I wonder if we could get him to pitch for us.
  9. I didn't mean that comment to be in response to you wOOgie. I had read on other message boards where people were saying "run Forrest run" and that he ran off crying. It was definitely strange to see him take off like that but from what we've seen from Forrest I would never assume it was because he wasn't tough. I had the advantage of watching the fights early in the morning when I got home from work. After watching it I went on the internet and the story was already out.
  10. Well that was well worth the price of the pay per view. Kenny Florian had a good gameplan but I think we've seen a "new BJ Penn". Penn vs Sanchez will be worth watching but if BJ prepares for that fight the way he did for this one he should win easily. I feel bad for Forrest that anyone would say he ran off crying. It was strange to see him run out that way but you can't question his toughness and he's not the type of guy that would run off pouting. I give him tons of credit for still fighting after his jaw was broken. We also had it reconfirmed that Silva is just that good. There are only a handful of people that MIGHT be able to beat him. I'd watch him fight Henderson but I don't see Henderson doing well. GSP would be a good match for him but with the size advantage I doubt GSP who is a small Welter weight would be able to beat him. I'd like to see him fight Rampage next. I think that would be a great matchup. That really only leaves Machida if Silva gets past Rampage. The rumors that when his contract runs out Silva would fight Roy Jones Jr is exciting. I also like the idea that he would fight Fedor. How crazy would that be? I think they are #1 and #2 as far as pound for pound fighters in the world. It was too bad that Amir Sadollah's fight was stopped so quickly. I love Joe Rogan commenting on it in the post fight interview. That sucks that Amir waited over a year for his first fight after winning TUF and it gets stopped early by the ref. I was a little disappointed in Josh Neer. I don't think that was anywhere near his best performance. I think the fights were well worth the pay per view price. Sorry for the lack of spaces between my points, I'm work and for some reason I can't get it to space things out.
  11. Yeah I don't remember what size the steak was at Prime Quarter. I didn't think it was all that hard to do though. Only a couple bucks more and then the next time you go your meal is free.
  12. I don't see it happening. Macha doesn't seem like the kind of guy that would let it happen. If they were going to throw at a Dodger they would have done it last night. Even after everything Ryan Braun said following the Pirates game, no one had his back. Not sure if it is the players on this team or the manager. I'd bet the manager though.
  13. Overbay is as deserving as Sexson... I guess who else would you have as the 4th player though? Jaha? Stubbs?
  14. About 8 years ago I did the Prime Quarter thing. I don't remember the size of the steak, I'm guessing 24oz with texas toast, salad and baked potato. If you eat it all you get a free meal next time. It was great. They give you a medal to wear around your neck and they used to take a polaroid picture of you right after eating that went on the wall. I heard they stopped the picture though.
  15. Okay, Dana. Why everything he says is reported as fact is beyond me. He's trying to gain the leverage in public opinion, which obviously is working for some people. He proved it in Pride. Seriously? Who has he fought lately? An 8 foot chinese guy? Who's next for the mighty Fedor, Manute Bol? The UFC doesn't need him and he doesn't need the UFC. That's fine but at some point you can't refer to him as the best fighter when he's not fighting anyone.
  16. How has Fedor proved he's the best? The rumored 6 fight deal for Fedor would be awesome. They could have him fight Lesnar, Couture, Velasquez, Carwin, Mir, Nog or possibly Lesnar again. If he got through that then you could say he is the best. At this point, I'd like to see him fight Lesnar and win, but I'm not convinced he would. Seriously though, 6 fights for 30 million dollars, allowing him to compete in sambo, allowing him to advertise all he wants for M1, a cut of the pay per view sales and exemption from the video game. What else does this guy want? Sorry but there is no way the UFC should allow M1 to co-promote. Fedor needs to man up, take the contract and due whats best for the sport.
  17. Yeah, I think it is a valid point. If he ever decided to say something very critical or negative the team could decide to do something about it.
  18. I give you a lot of credit for making the effort to do a blog like that and also for sharing it with us on this site. This is just my opinion... The reporting on what other people said in their blogs is ok but I'd bet everyone that is interested in hot stove/trade deadline info is already hitting prosportsdaily, espn, jsonline, sites like that. I'd find it more interesting to read your opinion of each game you go to. Not all of us have season tickets. You apparently do. Maybe like a running diary of a game. Even if you did like a different beer for your tailgate each day, something along those lines. It would give people a feel for what it's like to have season tickets in a way. What the crowd was like and observations that those of us watching on tv aren't getting to make. Combine that with your own opinions on trades, free agent signings, players, and throw in a few photos you take and it's worth checking out. Hope that was what you were looking for as far as feedback.
  19. I don't understand how anyone could dislike Counsell. The guy came out before the season and said that if he is playing a lot something is wrong. It's not like he came back trying to take playing time away from other players. We had injuries and he stepped up. He is out playing his contract. He does everything he can to help the team. I enjoyed watching him in Arizona and I hope he comes back next year.
  20. Affliction is no more.
  21. M-1 Global now is denying the story is accurate. I think it may still happen. Also, Lesnar just fought. He didn't really get hurt at all but I think that the UFC will want them to match up first and they will want it in Vegas. It will still take time to promote that fight so I think UFC 106 will still be Fedor vs Brock. That gives them time to train for each other. The UFC won't want Fedor to fight anyone else first. If someone besides Lesnar beats him they may never get their dream match up.
  22. I think either UFC 106 or 108 will be Lesnar-Emelianenko. Both are in Las Vegas. They would be crazy to have them fight at UFC 105 in England or at UFC 107 in Memphis. Can't wait for Friday's announcement.
  23. Fedor, UFC finalizing deal! http://mmafrenzy.com/11096/report-fedor-emelianenko-ufc-finalizing-deal/ According to the LA Times, citing an unnamed source with information on the negotiations, Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC are finalizing a deal that would see the top-ranked heavyweight compete inside the Octagon: A long-awaited agreement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the man considered the world's best mixed martial arts fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today. The source, who asked not to be identified because he's not authorized to speak publicly about the dealings, called negotiations between the UFC and Fedor "very civil" just days after Fedor's scheduled Affliction Trilogy fight Saturday against Josh Barnett was canceled.
  24. Do people ever consider the other teams GM and their perspective? Hart has a bad end of the season and DM is supposed to trade him when his value is low? How stupid would he look if Hart turned things around this year? Then he would have traded an All-Star RFer after he had 2 bad months.
