It's a day of rest for everyone but weeks, hart, and fielder... great news considering I am going to the game... and its my birthday... and i bought tickets the minute they went on sale! Thanks Ned.

This is untrue. The retirement communities are mostly west of Phoenix. There are others through out the valley but the biggest area for retirees is Sun City as well as Surprise. Maryvale is about 20 to 25 minutes from there and being that I live in Phoenix, EVERYTHING is 20 to 25 minutes away at a minimum. The fact that the Brewers are in Maryvale and that it is a rougher neighborhood is some of the problem with attendance but the biggest problem with attendance is that for years the Brewers haven't been good. Of all the teams in the cactus league, and there are 12, the Brewers have advertised more than anyone this year. The local AM 620 espn radio only advertises for the Brewers. The team is a hit in the hispanic community for the Chorizo sausage, Cervecero's Day, and inexpensive tickets. No other team will give you a t-shirt, ticket, and Miller Lite for $20 and I believe that is something that started when Attanasio came in. In Arizona non-Diamondback fans are usually Dodgers, Cubs, and Brewers fans in that order. Moving to Florida would be a big mistake not because of the teams Wisconsin based fans but because they have converted a good number of Arizonans to being Brewers fans. I've been to no less than 8 spring training games a year for the last 7 years and let me just tell you that because half of the teams spring games are road games it doesn't matter what the attendance is like. Attendance at home games is largely based on their opponent as well. A lot of stadiums because they are so close to each other have split fan bases like little league games. When the Cubs or Diamondbacks come to Maryvale it fills up. When the Rockies or White Sox come to Maryvale it's a sparse crowd.

I'm going to the game today... anyone have an idea as to who else is pitching or playing?

MetroCenter mall is kinda ghetto. Maryvale is by far the most fun stadium to go to. My experience is that the other parks fill up and it you don't have your pick of seats like you do at Maryvale. Just to add to the list of bars/restaurants to check out... Try Claim Jumper on Baseline near AZ Mills mall. Huge portions, great food. If you are downtown try Alice Cooperstown. It's right near chase field which is also worth touring once. Now that the Suns traded for Shaq take in a Suns game. Its just my opinion but I don't see much point in trying to get to several different stadiums. They aren't as unique or interesting as big league diamonds and I think you're just driving around the valley for no reason. Hohokam park where the cubs play is a tough ticket but for some reason people don't think of going to see their team on "the road". It's weird. Other stadiums aren't that far away. Thats why the Barry Bonds only plays home spring training games was so strange. I've never been down to Tucson for a game so I don't have any opinion on those locations. Hope this was at all helpful, sorry it was all so random.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember Obie throwing a complete game shut out in San Fran. Great outing by him tonight but I don't think it was his best.

I feel like I've already scene this movie or read this book. Yost leaves him in to start the 7th, Obie gets knocked around... Brewers lose. Everyone blames Obie... nevermind the fact that a monkey could figure out that Wes is only good for 5 or 6 innings.

I would have liked to see Hendrickson pitch another inning but obviously needed to be pinch hit for. Maybe they will use Moeller next time.
