  1. How great is this?! Haven’t been this excited for him since he crushed rookie ball after draft. He has always had this profile but nice to be excited about something more than his ability to walk. As unimpressive as his average has been, he has always been solid (always over 100 wRC). Still relatively young for AA at 22, he has restored his stock that had him free falling down prospect list.
  2. 22nd pick Terrance Dotson will be very tough sign. Going to WVU on football & baseball scholarship. Outstanding athlete
  3. Looking back at 2016 draft to see what the kids who went unsigned & see how they are doing. 3B Louie Crow was moved to mound at San Diego & has pretty rough outside of freshman year. Undrafted as of now. SP Jared Horn drafted in 20th round went on to be California’s Ace & was drafted in 7th round. Sadly he was in an accident a year or two ago where he was sole survivor losing his father. SP Brennan Price 29th pick signed as a udfa next year with Blue Jays & is currently out of baseball. He was 6’9 265. 40th round RHP Kyle Serrano was drafted 10th in 17’ and at 23 is going to 3rd year of rookie ball. Hard to believe only 4 of 41 picks went unsigned!
  4. Another lefty but this time our 2nd prep of the draft! Kelvin Bender is LHP/OF out of California
  5. LHP Jackson Gillis from Vanderbilt makes it 6 lefties & still only 1 high school pick. Bats: R Class: 4YR JR Height: 6' 3 Pick Value: -- Throws: L DOB: 11/27/97 Weight: 235 Gillis established himself as one of Vanderbilt's go-to relievers last season, but has been used sparingly in 2019. The left-hander has shown a fastball that sits at 92-95 mph and a solid curveball in the past. Gillis has also earned comparisons to former Vanderbilt pitcher Ben Bowden, who was drafted by the Rockies in the second round in 2016 and has pitched well for their Double-A Hartford affiliate this season.
  6. Only scouting report I could find on Arman Sabouri is from high school: LHP Arman Sabouri (Branham HS, California): 84-88 FB; good 76-80 SL; upper-70s CU; good
  7. Make that 5 lefties with California’s Arman Sabouri
  8. Researching him, found it interesting that he is numb on the right side of his body after having a stroke as a baby. Parents were told that he’d mostly likely have a limp right arm and drag his right foot due to it. He ended up becoming the star high school basketball & baseball play, JUCO All American, and now 11th round pick!
  9. They could draft Al Leiter's son, and give their whole bonus pool $ to sign him. doesn't work that way. If they failed to sign picks in the top 10 rounds, that money both disappears from our bonus pool and limits the amount we can go over the pool without penalty It’s a joke because Leiter wanted over 4 million which is about what our bonus pool is.
  10. The young trio in Carolina is fun! Average isn’t there yet for all three but big potential!
  11. Brewers do have a type. Up the middle and professional approach. All their offensive picks walk more than they k. Shortstop: Hamilton: .408 OBP 16% BB to 15% K Center Field: Holt: .417 OPS 13% BB to 9% K Catcher: Dillard: .450 OPS 20% BB to 17% K Catcher: Kahle: .508 OPS 26% BB to 12% K Catcher: Miller: .573 OPS 23% BB to 8% K Pitchers also like guys who have ability to rack up Ks regardless of velocity. As they tend to say, fill up the strike zone. Small: 160Ks over 96 IP. 15K/9 27bb Kelly: 112ks over 52.2 IP. 19k/9. 37bb Bennett 73ks over 73.2 IP 9k/9. 30bb Floyd: 78ks over 50.1 IP 14k/9. 20bbs
  12. Hamilton I hope signs. Usually in first 10 rounds teams know what a guy wants. It is way too dangerous not to. Losing that pool money verse being able to just give it to other picks is the killer. Brewers aren’t in a position to be able to afford any player not signing. Hamilton is a weapon. Elite college fielder & runner. Question will be if he can hit enough to let speed play. He does walk as much as he Ks. He had rough freshman year at plate hitting but made huge jump in his 2nd season. Losing this year killed him. If he had another jump this year he could have been day 1 pick. We will have to go overslot with him but hopefully not too much
  13. 8 college & 1 high school. Under Johnson they have gone high school pretty heavy in 11-19 so we will have to wait & see.
  14. Well yes, it's definitely too aggressive. That being said, this does exist in the universe: Twitter Link That is awesome! Mechanics are nearly identically
  15. McDowell fits because of his stellar defense & benefit he offers team with helping the pitchers. He doesn’t K and gets walks. His bat plays enough to keep him an asset. Will he ever break into majors... eh not unless bat picks up but good system catcher. Doubt Dillard stays behind plate. Let his bat play. Hat trying to teach a college advance bat how to catch. If he was a young high school kid, sure, but learning curve is big for catcher & takes away time from focusing on his biggest asset.
  16. Remember when Bickford was the top ranked prospect in the Giants' system? And people here think that the Brewers system is bad! I remember when he was firing upper 90s going into draft & originally with Giants. Wish he could just get back to even low to mid 90s. Last I read he was topping out at upper 80s. It is very difficult to adjust from high velocity power thrower to soft tossing pitcher. He spend his whole life being able to overpower hitters to now need to learn how to be effective without it. Maybe if he is fully healthy it starts to climb back up. He has had a tough past 3 years
  17. Super Mario! Glad to see him healthy again this year. Too many were lower on him entering season. Grisham is just locked in! 3 more walks to go with that Homer. Is this finally that advanced bat we heard so much about coming out of high school? Segovia just continues to hit. With his added power this year, kid could become a real prospect. He has always had elite hit tool but zero power to be seen. That has hurt him.
  18. Ashby & Small in Wisconsin for June & at all star break up to Carolina! I’m really excited with the two high K rate lefties. Again Brewers have been pretty effective with college arms as of late under Stearns front office. That include two from trades this year who are pitching well for us. Both are guys they wanted to draft. Zavolas & Hill. I’m not a scout, I thought Jed Bradley was going to be a star but have far more confidence in our amateur scouting department than I did in Jack Z & Seid’s old departments.
  19. Sadly Burnes has always been a pitcher. Command four pitches and put any of 4 wherever he wanted in all counts. Why he was so dominant. He simply has lost his command a bit this year. Fastball in particular. Hopefully he gets back to power pitcher vs power thrower.
  20. Boring pick comes from him not being a young exciting arm. High risk, high reward types. Henderson & Malone are two I wanted. However, I’m excited for Small. Like Hader experienced when his jumped up, if he can get some of that velocity back he had pre tommy john.... the deceptive crossfire delivery is just deadly. When ball is that hard to see at 89 mph.... 93-95 mph will cripple hitters. He would breeze his way to AA or AAA. Plus change only plays better with the bump
  21. Mike Fiers has shown how well a deceptive funky delivery can play at MLB level. He has always been considered a 4 or 5 but when on Brewers he was very effective and consistent. K’d 9 per 9innings with lower walk rate. He should see Wisconsin this summer. Be fun to have Ashby & Small in same rotation
  22. Brewers have done good job picking effective college arms as of late. Not against pick for that reason. Just pretty boring considering all the really good prep arms out there.
  23. Brewers go underslot (I really hope). Smart considering extreme lack of slot money.
  24. Hard to believe Jimmy will be 30 when he starts on Wednesday. Glad to see him battle his way back to majors though! Hopefully he can get back to where he was
  25. I’d just like to see Jack Washburn end up a Brewer. After watching him at State Track Meet I grew even more impressed with him. He is just a stud of an athlete. Not a power arm but like his dad, simply knows how to pitch & can mix in 3 very good off speed pitches. Not sure what round he is projected & how early he needs to go to skip out on Oregon state but just something I’d like to see
