  1. Praise Davies for every 5th day giving us consistency so far. Only one right now doing so. Gio is off to good start as well.
  2. NBA playoff schedule is a joke. Kills momentum. One day off without travel... fine but zero excuse that Bucks aren’t playing today. No clue why nba feels need to stretch series out so long. A reason why MLB & NFL are better.
  3. Brewers are a month away from a very favorable schedule in June & July.... hard not to be optimist that if they are over .500 vs the elite teams in league, how they should be against the bottom half of the league
  4. Still need to get job done & keep ball in Park. Anything good for Burnes helps rebuild confidence on mound. Chacin Anderson Woodruff Gio Davies I think will be rotation moving forward. Think same as Burnes, Freddy should go down & get some good outings under his belt. Burnes will get another opportunity this year & hopefully he is all figured out by then.
  5. As an educator who has taught both general & special education the test score does not bother me at all. It is a paper test. I can tell you for a fact (100% legitimate fact) dyslexia & timed test don’t go hand in hand. 50 questions in 12 minutes when it takes longer to read questions is no easy task. Skimming like a traditional test taker would use is not a real strong options. Students and people with dyslexia are not dumb, they just excel in other ways. Some can be brilliant minds, & strong hands on & visual learners. Kid never had less than 3.0 in high school or college & was academic all-American twice. He works hard at learning which is most important aspect for anyone with a learning disability. So unless Packers are giving him a textbook (not with visual plays but simply text explaining plays) & timed quizzes.... he should be fine. He doesn’t talk like some dummy who can’t read. He is pretty intellectual kid. Reading just takes more time & strategies to get through & excel at. Gary was projected from start of season until March consensus top 10 pick & very high amount still had him a top 10 pick around draft time. Packers clearly liked him & Bush a lot when Gutey decided to go to Michigan pro day over absolutely loaded Clemson pro day. I don’t think he was a reach at all at 12 or drafted over value. Will he be a star? I don’t know but at worse I see him as a solid player who helps this defense. Freak athletes with great work ethics tend to do well. If he was lazy, egotistical, and hot & cold motor I’d be more worried.
  6. Right now we have played all contending, elite type teams in NL (besides maybe Reds) as long as we can stay above or around .500 until end of May we should be able to make big run in June/July when our schedule is almost all the bottom half of the league.
  7. The new signing & slot system is so much better than the old days where rookies were holding out into camp.
  8. Except you have made it clear that your “opinion” is fact. Your system based off bogus mocks are true value of players worth. Think those are main factors for his response. When you talk as though it is fact they reached on Gary & Savage due to mocks & your point value system, that naturally puts you in strong position for criticism. Then to claim a value system based on random mocks plus Jimmy Johnson value system is “over your head” that’s just gas on a fire. Everyone knows (or should know) mocks are not even close to true value. It’s like thinking brewerfan.net polls and who is listed has actual value in how front offices with 99% more information view prospects. Which you also have mentioned. It’s fine to hate the pick or think we could have done better but using words like fact are never good ideas. High Heats “inside sources” are as trusting as mocks & polls to base any “facts” on.
  9. Hard to believe that after his year at Helena & start this year in Wisconsin Max Lazar doesn’t get much praise. Figured Clancy would have him as a rapid riser! Ton of Ks (over 10 per 9 & over 30%) He is allergic to walks. He both hasn’t been hit hard nor given up runs. Another crafty, control, soft tosser. I’d assume there must be a good amount deception & spin to him him. Turang is going to make a lot of teams regret letting him slip down so far in draft. Very high bb% for such young kid with promising k%. Both are at 16%. Hitting over .300 & still iso’ing .10. His reports on D are very good
  10. I also love Brown! Can’t believe he was undrafted out of Alabama considering the athlete he is. Think after that first game where he was flagged two or three times, he really turned it around! I don’t think Savage will be a Nickel for long if he is at all. More so if he isn’t 100% ready to start day 1 at free, he needs to get on field some way. I just think With Amos, Jones, & Tramon, there is a lot of flexibility. Amos can play FS & SS, Tramon FS/CB, and Jones SS/MLB. Savage FS/Nickel. Jackson just makes most sense for nickel safety. Maybe despite speed, he can still excel outside but just see him as a Hyde. King is strictly outside. Both Alexander & Brown can play outside or slot. Very quick & best in man to man coverage. Alexander is just good anywhere. Kid is a star in the making
  11. J’Mon Moore is a pretty big boom guy on this roster. Tools are there in big way but like the worry coming out was ability to focus on finishing catches & drops. Rodgers pretty much wrote him off early for that reason. Couldn’t trust going his way. It’s not that he can’t catch either, he simply tries to move up field before he has it. In secondary I feel we will see a lot of Williams at FS, Amos SS with Savage in slot to start season. Think Hope should be: FS Savage......Williams SS Amos........ Jones CB Alexander...Williams CB King.......... Jackson/Brown Slot Jackson.... Alexander/Savage with Tramon covering their spot Jackson is a tweener like Hyde. Ballhawk but too slow to run with guys on outside. If Dom was still here I’m sure Jackson would have been used in very similar way. Pettine liked Alexander & the fast explosive type guys in there. He was used more like what we saw with Hayward’s use.... towards end of year though he played more outside with King hurt & Williams at FS. I could see Savage playing down there because he fits that explosive mold. That was his best & most played position in college. My hope though is he focuses on FS.
  12. I think they are, believe teams use it to judge what is fair for each pick. Packers gave up 744 to get 800 by trading 30 & 2 4s. If they didn’t trade the two 4s... they would have found way to give up 124- 180 in another way. 2nd round value was 460 3rd round value was 215 4th round value was 66 4th round value was 58 5th round value was 31 6th round value was 17 6th round value was 14 7th round value was 2 We could have overpaid by a lot for those 9 spots by trading #30 & our 3rd pick 620+ 215 = 835 vs 800 Could have went #30, 1st 4th, 5th, and 2nd 6th 620+66+31+14= 731 vs 800 where we still win trade. Don’t thinks an end all be all but helps guide decisions of what each pick is worth. Keep #30 & Trade 2nd, 3rd, 2nd 4th round 675+58= 738 Overall our 3rd round pick held much more value than both our 4ths. 215 to 124
  13. Only thing Jimmy Johnson chart tells us is Packers made nice trade value wise Packers give up 620 66 58 Packers Get 800 So 800 to 744 totals.... Packers added 56 points of value That’s the FACT in value.... Then there is a made up personal value system that was used based on mock drafts to say Packers lost value in the draft. That is not fact & is over no ones head. If I was to use this system: We Got 1500 & 740= 2240 Our picks Value 1200 & 800 =2000 1st round we are over value 240. You can add the 56 for added value from trade to give us 296. I had Gray going between 6-8. Thought Jags & Lions were real possibilities for Gary. Rumors about Giants if they didn’t go QB. Savage was going to be gone by Raiders so 24th pick seems about right. Essential according my non factual, personal opinion on where guys should have been valued.... Packers added about the 50th to 51st overall pick in positive value. Not bad. Because any mock or ranking past 1st round is such bs, I won’t even bother trying to decide that their values are for whole draft. Looking again, I like the way values turned out! Think I’ll just say based on my biased values it is a fact Gute exceeded his picks value in 1st round! Great job Gutey!!!
  14. Shame, a not very good RP is gone from system. On to Perdomo!
  15. I don’t think I fully understand whole value thing. I understand pick value for trades but once you try to fill in player values with it.... that’s where it gets fuzzy. To me values only matter if you are grading trades. Did we over pay or not? You simply can’t give players value. I saw mocks with Beau From Wisconsin going round 2. He went undrafted.... guys free fall for a reason that mockers simply don’t have info for. Polite falling to 5th after being mocked 12-32 by most. Does Polite really get first round grade? If every team said nope to him for over 5 rounds....he probably isn’t as good as mockers felt. I’d say 75% or greater of mockers simply don’t have a real clue. They watch some film, they read a lot, but just don’t have much information to work with. They ride up & down the hype train. Take smokescreens as reality. They try to match needs. Overall over years I just think they are fun. I never look at anything past a 1st round mocks...they are straight 99.9% bs’ing it’s a complete crap shot at that time. I follow them, do the homework I can but at end of day accept Packers know about 99.9 percent more than me. I have watched film for over a decade, studied schemes & players.... but high school coordinator doesn’t qualify me for crap at NFL level where my opinions are based on YouTube clips & meaningless mocks & rankings by people who know not even that much more than I do. World would be better if all fans understood that as fans.... we are Chad, Africa level educated while pro teams are Finland. 100% literacy & top rank vs 24% literacy & not even ranked. Luckily here, vast major get that.
  16. Completely forgot about that but stumbled upon it when I was looking for different post I had about Gary. Thought it was weird to miss out on all those studs at Clemson to see Bush & talk to Gary instead. Wonder who they had higher on board. I was huge on Bush. 3 down LB with great athletic ability. He could stay in during most sub packages like Pack want out of Burks. Was sad to see him come off board. But writing was on wall for a Bush or Gary pick over Wilkins & Ferrell (if on board still)
  17. QB class is huge in top round of draft, if Haskins & Lock would have been in top 11 with Murray & Jones, that pushes two more quality options there. Devin Bush was my #1 realist option. Oliver, Allen my less realistic. When QB class is good & teams needy, opportunities are there for more trades & better talent pushes down to you. Next year has Herbert, Tua, & Fromm looking like top 10 picks Castillo & Easton could easily push upward in 1st round. Shea Patterson is overrated but people tend to like him
  18. Fact: Gary won’t live up to #12 because he will have already lived up to a Top 5 pick. Sorry but facts are just facts right? Just like it is a fact Yeli will hit 60 HRs this season...Fact that Bucks will win finals There is no facts on predicting future. Plus what is actually criteria for a #12 pick to live up for expectations? Clearly for some it is going to be he needs to be first ballot Hall of Famer. I think it is helping the team win, being reliable, and capable of making some big moment plays. He is not #1 overall. Really I think he just needs to produce more than Wilkins, Burns, & Sweat... the 3 guys most fans wanted over him at close to his positions. DK’s first long TD I’m sure I will hear all about how he should have been a Packer not remembering he was passed on 61x first. Can’t compare production unless they play similar positions.
  19. I think that was when the Jets were shopping their pick and Gray was a likely option for the team. I haven't seen any mocks where Gray lasts until the 12th pick. All of the above occurred before the big FA signings so there may be a big change in thinking now. I believe without the Smith's, Gute was going to trade up to take an impact D, but now he has the luxury to see what happens before him at #12. Hmmmm Looking back....
  20. Again Gary was a near lock in every mock until late March then the bloggers & overrated/under qualified media scouts got cold on him. The same that had Metcalf, Taylor, Lock all Top 20 pick guys like Ridley & Butler going in second. They are drastically wrong very often. To listen to their collective sketchy evaluations & take as fact of a players true value is very questionable. Teams have so much more resources & know every detail about each player from every snap they play, every medical concern, all the interviews, background checks that even decent media guys are working with maybe 10% of. They watch some film, read reports on internet, talk to few connections with teams & role with it. A lot of them flow with hype, trends, and take smoke screen bait. They are here more for our entertainment & to give fans some minimal information about who these players are. Most of these mockers have never had a real scouting job & would never be offered one. As a fan I know my opinions are mostly horse crap compared to a nfl scouting department. I have 1% of info to go off of. But I understand both that & most “analyst” don’t know a whole lot about teams boards or true value as well. If they did, a lot of scouts should be out the door. So I won’t claim we could have gotten this guy later because some not very informed analyst says so.
  21. Im starting to think I’m in minority about being fine with trading 2 4s to move up. I think that if it was Metcalf or some other name pack fans loved, they’d be celebrating in the streets but because Savage was a riser & not household name people are more upset. Packers scouting department clearly felt he was just a star they couldn’t afford to lose. I don’t have information they have but to pay that price.... they had to feel they were getting something special. Don’t think it is irresponsible to become infatuated with 1 player. 1 player can change everything. Our defense with and without Nick Collins..... Seattle with or without Thomas. Special players can transform you. I’d argue it’s irresponsible to identify a player like that & not make sure you get them. Could backfire but it’s those guts that we sat back & complained about with TT for years. He was too scared to risk it all & go for it. Savage is this draft. There is more pressure on him because the cost to get him. He needs to hit. Think Gary at worse (my opinion) is AJ Hawk & just solid as can be. Verse run, very good. Will get his pressures and do many important things to help D but may fail to be sack Ace we hope for.
  22. To look back in future and think this was a solid to good draft (not great draft but solid one) 1. One of the 2 1st rounders need to be a pro bowl caliber player. Both need to be produce at starter quality level. Gary could be steady as can be like Hawk as long as Savage is Nick Collins like. Gary can be 10+ sack a year force & Savage can be 2018 Ha Ha. Need one to ball out 2. Jenkins needs to be a solid starter at 1 of the 3 interior spots. You don’t draft Lineman in 2nd to be swing backups. That is what 4th and up are for. 3. Sternberger doesn’t need to be Ertz but can’t be Rodgers. He needs to be reliable receiving threat. Needs to develop blocking to be more complete. 5. Keke needs to make team for at least 3 season and provide solid rotational snaps. No one here is counting on him to start & be a force but has to be better than the street FAs like Lancaster we bring in. Quality depth. 6a Hollman. Makes team & gives decent rotation depth for at least couple of years. Brown as a udfa played a ton last year & outside of some dumb flags on him... he was reliable when needed. Hollman needs to be that. 6b. Dex Williams. Give us 1 or 2 good starts or games to remember you. Don’t be Mays. As a 6th rounder, expectations aren’t to be next starter but find way to get carries & be in mix. 7. Make practice squad at least. Wildcard pick. No one expects anything big. Make team as rookie & play special teams. Already met your goal. Anything more is gravy Overall, this draft & value comes from the big 3 Gary, Savage, and Sternberger. How they do will determine how good this draft was. They have most star potential. Jenkins should at worst be reliable swing back up. Keke, Hollman, Williams hopefully can create depth. Give draft a B- as of today. Added depth in all places needed and filled it with guys who are excellent athletes who can grow. Negative is there is plenty of bust concerns or just lack of star power. Last 2 years I think we could hype up draft more but look at 17 which I loved and much of that class hasn’t lived up to anything. King is always hurt, Jones hasn’t stepped up, Adams hasn’t produced, Williams has been solid but not great. Biegel & Yancy gone by year two. Jones has flashes but there are reasons beside stats coaches hesitate to play him. Kofi Mayes Dupree nothing.
  23. But you state that as fact when it’s pure conjecture or a semi-educated opinion at best. If Gute has him high, others very well may have too. Apparently he went back & watched every snap of every game from all top 20 draft picks, conducted own interviews, talked to all former coaches, had his sources confirm no one before 20 would take him! Funny that until late March he was seen as a lock top 10 pick. Now he is a reach at 12 a month later.... I talked many times leading up to draft about IF Gary somehow fell to us. That was the mindset not too long ago about him. Some Of these “brilliant” internet scouts & mockers start to question his sack totals without understanding his role or knowing how to watch film very well and people freak out. Those judging players on sacks alone.... are ones that consider RBIs & ERA as most elite baseball stat for player evaluation. Fackrell had 10 & was pretty bad on just about every other play. Gary went 12 because he is as gifted as they come, versatile, and if played at a position that allowed him to individually produce more instead of merely help win football games, he’d excel. Switch him & Winovich on that defense.... Gary probably isn’t making it past 5.
  24. [sarcasm]But but but.... HE DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH SACKS! He sucks, is is wasted pick, and was a reach!!![/sarcasm] Right there with you.
  25. Dexter Williams is very interesting to me. Probably because Samkon Gado is still a legend in my eyes. Watching Dex run reminds me a lot of Gado. Similar build, vision, and shiftiness. Not a burner or elite athlete but solid. If you don’t like Gado, a less powerful CJ Anderson comes to mind as well. Build, nibble, vision wise
