  1. Think Bill & Tom are only two in the league capable of taking on AB right now. If he can’t even shape him up there with all his nonsense, no team can. Patriots have been down this road multiple times with “cancer” “diva” and “troubled” players. It usually goes well for them. AB works hard, is an elite player, and makes any offense better so Pats with him & Gordon.... their offense could be unbelievable if both workout. If he pulls anything dumb though, he will be out the door quick. They don’t tolerate nonsense.
  2. I see no problem with it & surprised to see so many people negative over it. He was one of the first homegrown guys in that wave that changed this franchise. He played at All-Star level for few seasons. He was a better Perez who played everyday at usually a different position for awhile. I’m sure it was him who brought it up & I was surprised to see it when it popped up today but I loved Hall! He was a favorite of mine in high school. Good for him! He brought some really great moments during a time that Brewer baseball was beginning to become exciting again!
  3. I’d disagree with suppressing league making it less exciting. The league is pitcher friendly due to parks & climate. That has zero to do with Ks, BBs, and less to do with xFIP which Ks & Walks factor pretty high into. Him K’ing 15+ per nine with a K% of 42% has nothing to do with the league and not just something any pitcher 21 or even 26 year old pitch can walk in and do. That is dominance. Same goes for that amount of innings without a run given up. Pitcher league or not, that’s very impressive. If the league was just that easy for pitchers, all of them would do it. 15/3.5 K/BB per 9, 42%/9% K/BB%, xFIP of 1.98... next closest was File at 2.96. His K/9 is 5 more Ks higher than the next guys. Across the board his numbers are top notch and leading that staff in almost all categories. His age is actually right on par with anyone not named Ashby or Hernandez on the Carolina staff who has pitched at least 30 innings. So it’s not like he is some old guy trolling away in A+, he will be 24 in AA for most of next season.
  4. Surprised no mention of Kelly after yet another dominant showing over 2.2 innings yesterday. I am fine with him finishing the year in Arizona. Whatever they have been working on him with has been working! There was a lot of talk about being raw and having some control issues. Zero sign of that thus far. Plus no need to send him to Colorado Springs....zero benefit of sending any pitcher to the Vibe. Poor kids have to learn a lot about failure very quickly in their career. Kelly has really been absurd through his first 9 outings and 28+ IP's at only 19 9 GS 1.26 ERA 28.2 IP 21 H 4 ER 5 BB 41K .208 OBA 0.91 WHIP For more advanced metrics 13 K/9 1.5 BB/9 giving him a 38 K% to 4.5 BB% for 1.94 FIP Ethan Small (22 years old) has only pitched 6 games for 16.2 IP but he to has been outstanding. 0.54 ERA 16.2 IP 8H 1 ER 3 BB 28K .140 OBA 0.66 WHIP 15 K/9 2 BB/9 to give him a 48% K% to 5.5 BB% 0.80 FIP Throw in Nick Bennett (21 years old) as well in 9 outings (4 starts) and 23 IPs 1.54 ERA 23.1 IP 18 H 4ER 8 BB 31K .205 OBA 1.11 WHIP 12 K/9 2.5 BB/9 to give him 31k% to 8bb% and a 2.75 FIP could have 3 real nice pitchers to add to our mix

  7. Pablo Abreu is 6 for 18 (.333) in Wisconsin after a 3 for 34 start in April. Glad to see him back healthy & hitting
  8. Going Back to June 8, 2015. Colby posted Trent’s Perfect Game write up & why Brewers fans should be happy with the pick. It’s exciting to go back and read this along with other scouting reports because myself and many others continue to point out “this is what he was suppose to become” He was a lefty prep 5 tool OF Keston Hiura. He was suppose to walk a ton, not K much, hit for average, add power, have good speed, be very baseball smart, and a leader. I remember in Arizona there were reports that he sprinted in to and out of of dugout for defense. He did same on bases. Very driven & determined kid. Even more exciting is going back and reading articles about him and the adjustments he had been working on. The mechanics of it. Not only does he talk about it but you can see the results each season and the improvements. Where he is hitting the ball (pull, middle, oppo) & how (ground, fly, line drive) are big ones. His Ks have dropped once he decided to be more aggressive. I’m not saying he will hit .330 with 30+ HRs and OPS 1.100 but think he will be a very good player and this is a fluke. It’s a combination of the skills and tools he has always had & the focus, determination, and effort he has put into changing his approach and mechanics. He’s only 22. I’m glad we held on to him! From Colby
  9. I’d hate to trade away Grisham! One thing he he does better than Hiura is he walks at an impressive clip every year & he is not K’ing much at all. Not sure he will maintain the Hiura hit tool he is showcasing right now but kid can hit. He read a lot Keston coming out of high school. He had best hit tool & was most advanced bat. He faced his struggles but his new approach has finally got him right. Even without the hitting he has been above average wRC+ since being drafted while being young at every stop. Now he is 22 & pounding on the MLB door! To me, I think there is no trades we can make that will fix our pen & rotation enough to to make a real run again this year. Nor do we have the magic of a pitching guru in Johnson anymore to get the most out. If we are going to give up on Grisham before he is possibly Michael Brantley ( maybe better, maybe he will be nothing special) it has to be for a controllable arm we will have in future. His stock right now has so much helium right now. I could see Stearns striking when oven is hot but I’d prefer he doesn’t.
  10. Pretty Unreasonable.... he most likely is not pitching for us this season. Shoot for 2020. No it’s pretty reasonable injury wise for pitcher to return. Unreasonable aspect would be assuming a roster bubble guy, gets threw all his rehab outings and makes enough impact to be promoted. If he had a strong MLB track record like say a Jeffress.... he would be able to pitch by September and up. ACL injuries are very different for sport & position you play. ACL is needed for lateral movements. A basketball and football player place a large amount of stress on their ACLs. They need to change directions quickly and explosively. You can not thrive in those sports without a strong ACL. A pitcher on the other hand doesn’t place nearly as much stress on ACL in mechanics or or on bases. Most dangerous place is fielding the baseball for them.
  11. Yup news flash Grisham & Williams are really good, rest of system.....pretty blah tonight. Well mostly since Clancy has managed to make me not cheer for him these days, Roegnar had best game of season tonight
  12. He spent his career so far being too patient and waiting for the right pitch. He k’d looking a lot & would pass on many drivable balls. He wanted to work count and take a lot pitches. This year his decision to be more aggressive and attack balls regardless of count has been huge. He was most advanced prep bat coming out. Potential for contact, average, walks and power. Glad to see it come together!
  13. Not sure if anyone noticed but this Trent Grisham guy is just on fire right now! Unreal 3-3 so far with 2 more doubles
  14. International draft is difficult. I just don’t see how they give teams picks. Can’t go by record. That would cause tanking to be way to valuable. They essentially get the best domestic & international player. Do you go best to worse record? That doesn’t seem right. Do you have a lottery? The slot bonus system for signing have helped keep the large market teams from buying all the top guys and made it more competitive all around. Would an international draft really make a big difference now?
  15. Shame for Garcia, remember when Arcia lost a season due to the same thing when he was real young.
  16. Moneyball & Historic HR rates have really killed the small game. Bunting, stealing, hit & runs, and such have died out a lot. Even the spray hitting has dropped with rose in launch angles and trying to drive ball in air. It’s a different game. Blows my mind why more hitters don’t just bunt verse shifts.... no one is there if you are even a mediocre bunter. Saladino rocking a solid .290 ops now! It’s climbing!
  17. Not sure why Supek is still in Biloxi. He got feet yet last year & has done nothing short of dominate Southern League. Same goes for Devin Williams. Not like Milwaukee couldn’t use more arms. It’s past All-Star break, get them up to AAA
  18. Where is his velocity at? I personally will love to have him back. Give him a minor league deal & hopefully being back “home” he can figure it back out again. It’s worked before. If it fails.... oh well, nothing hurt.
  19. Aggressive & I like it! Lutz, Turang, Henry, and Super Mario in same lineup is fun!
  20. I was at the game tonight. Most of the Keys hitters were over-matched and Ashby didn't even look like he really had is best stuff (evidenced by 4BB vs. 3K). The Reyes double was really the only truly hard hit ball. I was surprised by Topa. I guess I hadn't really seen him pitch or wasn't paying attention if I had. He was sitting upper 90's and hit 99 several times. Didn't realize he threw that hard. I know Feliciano didn't have a great game but when that dude squares it up the ball has a different sound. High hopes for that kid. This is the exact same thing I said on here two years ago after I saw him with TRats. He is really just one of those guys similar to Isan Diaz where it just sounds different of bat. At Wisconsin I don’t think he was as automatic with finding the barrel as Diaz but he was only 18 at the time.
  21. Westbrook’s contract is also not friendly. Believe it’s like 36 mil this year, 41 mil, 43 mil, & 46 mil... those aren’t exact but ballparks. That is a lot to absorb... even with trading Bledsoe. That’s problem one. Problem 2, we don’t have much for draft capital. We got some back for Brogdon but still not much to work with. Lastly, Westbrook wants the ball at a very high usage rate. Giannis works at a high usage rate. Both are at best when ball is in their hands. KD could play off it better since guy can shot with the best of them but Giannis has to attack to get his points. Westbrook Shot 6 3s a game while hitting only 29% of them. Like Giannis he needs to attack to score. Really Russ isn’t too different from the way Bledsoe scores except Bledsoe doesn’t require the usage Westbrook wants. Bledsoe knows his role on team which means get ball to Giannis & play off him. Not sold on Westbrook & Giannis thriving together. It could work out or it could fail miserably. No doubt though that Bucks instantly end all doubts or debates who is the most elite team in East. If Giannis & Westbrook can coexist with Middleton & Lopez to stretch floor.... feel bad for rest of East.
  22. Will gladly take that first start by Smyly! 7ks in 4 innings only 3 hits. 1 run off a homer
  23. Yes it is. Williams said in future games article he actually hit 100mph for the first time in a game a few weeks ago. He is definitely a power arm who can now just max out due to switch to bullpen. Glad he is healthy & thriving!
  24. Holy Venezuela, Brewers really love mining there.
  25. Could be good pick up if he can get everything back. At one point in time he looked like he was going to be a very good MLB pitcher. Injuries really ended that. Lost two seasons due to injuries & just hasn’t gotten it back like Rangers hoped. Could be a steal. Fingers crossed.
