  1. I don't think at time anyone really thought Hanigarvwould be what he is right now. Most thought 4th OF average Starter. Not this. Also bunch of us really liked Banda but who thought he'd become a top pitching prospect in an organization. Hindsight, great deal Arizona! (Not often you can say that over past few seasons prior to GM change). Parra was good for us though and brought in a solid arm. Overall, always been a Doug support & always will! Is Gord still around helping out? Can't remember. He deserves some credit to.
  2. So I feel there is little doubt that we sign all 10 of our first picks. Now 11-19 who as we know are all high schoolers, who do you think we will be able to lock up? I'm confident in Ward Layer 75% to me Lazar Santana Castillio 50/50 Bullock Workman 25% or less L. Smith 0% Campbell In the end we end up with Lazor, Ward, Layer, Santana, and Castillio Think Bullock, Workman, and Smith head off to school. Bullock could be an impact two way player at NC State and build up his stock. Smith seems like he is an Oklahoma boy whose going to be a Sooner. Workman is the hardest for me to decide on.
  3. Like how the Brewers are sticking to their trend of up the middle talent. A CF can always move to LF or RF, SS can always move to 2B or 3B(depending on body and the bat), and at least can have future as a utility or a super utility play. Even Lutz is a CF and athletic enough to play out there. His frame will outgrow it most likely and move him to RF but that is just another guy who can play all three. McCusker is only one who really cannot play CF. Brent Diaz could be a really solid sleeper. One of the top catchers in the country and seems like a gritty hard worker.
  4. Thought my post, copied again below, was pretty clear: UPDATE: Just the paper roster for Feliciano, in fact, he is now slated to start the Midwest League All-Star Game now that St. Louis' (Peoria) catcher Andrew Knizner was promoted to AA. Must have missed it. Figured it had to be paper move. It would make no sense otherwise. He is a talent young man!
  5. I'm confused... Super Mario has been 2nd best and most consistent bat in Wisconsin. Not out matched in the slightest as his K% is around 14%. Not sure I understand why you'd send him down to play in Helena when he has prove he ready. Hopefully just a paper move. Unless Harrison is going straight to Wisconsin to Catch, we have giant hole there offensively with no real prospects catching.
  6. My guess is they get job done with Ward. He seems like the highest priority pick out of the bunch. They are said to have been on Jo Adell, well here is next closest thing. Ton of room to fill out. Very lean right now. Seems like a guy you do what it takes to get. Workman- His choices are to sign or go play one year of college ball and then go away for 2 year (away from the game) for mission trip. Castillo is a guy I think we sign, seems ready to go. Layar I expect him to sign. Brewers have a track record of getting guys from P.R. signed. Could be another Ortega Ledgend Smith is lefty with amazing name, without knowing about his pitching....love him to sign!
  7. Forgot Brantley was actually 7th. We has found some nice HS prospects 10-20. Not all made it but were at least interesting to follow. Left out Rodon and Schwartz because zero chance to sign really 2016 11. McClanahan 2015 14. Tyrone Perry -Had tons of potential to climb but was not willing to care about weight and conditioning 2014 12. Jordan Yamamoto 2013 15. David Denson 2012 10. Anthony Banda 2011 13. Mallex Smith (unsigned) 18. Chris McFarland 2010 19. Rowen Wick (unsigned) 2009 10. Tyler Roberts 16. Scooter Gennett 2008 16. Stosh J Wawrzasek 18. Nick Bucci 2007 11. Cody Scapetta 13. Chris Dennis (might been JUCO but younger than most HS kids) 15. Joey Paciorek 2006 16 RJ Seidel 19. Lee Hydel 2005 18 Zack Braddock 2004 16. Alex Periard 17. Lorenzo Cain 2003 none 2002 12. Callex Crabbe 16. Dana Eveland 2001 Tim Dillard (1st time as HS Catcher, unsigned) 2000 11. Jon Cory Hart
  8. Hope the knees hold up and he calls his shots!
  9. Brewers, keep collecting those young lottery tickets! Hopefully some Cory Harts, Michael Brantleys, and Scooter Gennetts in there Ward and Santana are two I really want to sign right now. Haven't done enough research on all of them but Ward could be an absolute steal.
  10. Not going to lie, $125k, free college coming out of high school, and ability to play ball for a career.....I'd be signed quick. I know everyone thinks they will go to college and vault up the rounds and land a huge deal but really never know. One of my friends was drafted by Brewers in high school, had full ride to Mizzou to play SS, passed up on Brewers and 2 or 3 shoulder surgeries that ended his college career.
  11. Soooo about Nick Ramirez.... he has been dominant out of the pen & still hitting bombs when he has to hit. Do Brewers have something here? I'm starting to think so.
  12. I don't understand all the worries about signability. Teams are well aware of what each players numbers are. They understand chances of them signing. Too much to lose as Plush said if you aren't able to. Money is just gone. Once we get to round 11, that's were teams start to grab some of those guys with strong commitment & hope they saved enough pool money to sign them away as we did last year with McClanahan. I'd expect a few seniors coming in the near rounds to collect more savings. Harrison should receive close to slot.
  13. Interested to see how they use Woodruff. I would think with the DFA to bring him up, they are planning to keep him up for at least a little while. Once Garza is back, I wouldn't mind him out of the pen like Hader to keep gaining MLB experience. Far more meaningful than starting games in CS.
  14. Enlow must have major signability issues. One of my favorite pitchers in the draft due to him reminding a good amount of my favorite prep pitcher last year, Braxton Garrett. I think Beck is probably dropping to point he where he will be back for junior season to rebuild stock & play with his little brother.
  15. Love the Tristian Lutz pick! I in no way see there being any signability issue with him. I don't even think they will need to go overslot to high. Teams know the numbers before hand. They know the signability risk. Most of the time they are on phone with these guys prior to picking them to check their price. Brewers have great history in getting guys signed. Covey doesn't count due to the situation. Seems to me he is a very sound baseball player with a ton of upside. If people are worried about the depth at OF, that all works itself out. Buy lottery tickets, find you winners & aquire more talent with the leftovers.
  16. I'm going to put trust into our area Scouts, cross checkers, and overall scouting department who has followed this kid extremely closely. It's clear the Brewers see something in him they really like. I have liked the talent the Brewers scouting department on both the amateur & pro sides. I have liked everything Tod Johnson has said about his approach. Ray Montgomery is still involved, I read DS has made rounds to see different prospects. Now let's see what our developing team can do. I'm no professional scout but seems like a high upside guy. I'll let Lemons get to work in Arizona before I put out absurd winning a lottery over an 18 year old learning repeat mechanics. Wasn't the sexiest pick because of risk & not being a guy talked a lot around here but I don't mind it. Excited to see what he has in a couple of weeks.
  17. Yes please. Ramos is very intriguing too but I want 2 pitchers here. If we end up with Huira, Beck, and Ramero today.....That is a 3 top 10 caliber picks who could move fast (when healthy or not in trouble). At one point one of the top national guys had Ramero as 1.1 before all the other things happened. Ramos, Peterson, and Hall now off the the board in a row.
  18. So when do we start considering Burns for top pitcher in our system? As of right now, I'm not sure he is very far behind Woodruff & I would have him over Ortiz. He is so advanced with great control of all his pitches. Right now I see him as at least a Chase Anderson type pitcher. Maybe not an Ace but very solid in rotation who can go one great runs when 100% on. If he keeps this up, does he earn a look in September? Compete next ST for spot in rotation? Still early but exciting to see him pitch this outstanding. How did he drop to the 4th?
  19. Hopefully we can steal another SP talent like Burns who is lights out again tonight. Should be enough depth to get a nice are before night is done. Villar, Dubon, Diaz, Hiura.... nice log jam building for some future trades. Be interesting who comes out on top in the group.
  20. Pirates got Baz.... well hopefully TCU is able to retain him. That is an outstanding pick for them.
  21. Roache destroyed his wrist which killed his swing. Not same thing.... he still played & was best hitter in college baseball with his injury
  22. Yeah don't see enough ceiling with Peterson.... Baz, Hall, Rogers all better option if we go pitcher. I don't mind Bukauskas. I'd still love Adell, can't ignore that insane ceiling there.
  23. There goes Beck.... kind of disappointed
  24. Shane Baz is my #1. He hasn't been linked to Brewers like Rogers and Hall have but think he could be very special pitcher. Think his ceiling tops all but Green's for high school are. Hall and Rogers are lefties and that is nice but fingers crossed. I don't buy the tough sign. He says anything different, he loses leverage. Most high school kids say that but when you have 2 million dollars sitting there for you and you are smart enough to know the risk 3 years of college wear and tear on the arm could do....hard to turn down.
  25. Think it has to do with what Brewers are looking for.... CFs, SS's, and Catchers offensively and they think the Brewers love tools. When they are up, no SS prospects sitting there but few CFs with high ceilings. You look at DS, that is the main target in all his deals outside of some arms. Still plenty of mocks going pitcher but those are all over the map. Let's hope Rays and Braves do what people are expecting and go with a Pre-deal guy who wasn't a top 10-20 guy. Force the talent down the list for use!
