  1. Harrison will start in Wisconsin (assuming) but if he comes out and hits the way he has in spring and was the month before the injury, it should be a quick stay. Think they just want to get his feet under him, get him healthy, and get him hot. There is room for him in Carolina. Clark and Ray are the only two priority OFs. With DH and days off, Stokes can still play nearly every day. Im hoping that is the way it works out. A locked in Harrison makes that Carolina Offense even more terrifying. I've said it for 2 years now, Harrison is Rickie Weeks. When he is on, he is one of the best players across the board on a baseball diamond. When he is off, yikes..... Then the injuries consistently slowing him down. Wow to the Kodi video! That was lively and nasty stuff! Hopefully he can put everything together this season.
  2. Outside of big camp, Gatewood is looking like he's really starting to fill out into his body! If he can make contact more consistently, power could really come through big!
  3. Role Garza #5 and hope he builds stock to flip. Anderson long. Garza has until June before Hader hopefully forces way into rotation.
  4. Woodruff dominating batters Ponce appears to be healthy & back on track Man, Carolina fans are in for a treat this season! Gatewood is on almost every summary crushing the ball.... hope that continues. Diaz is a beast. Clark is healthy & Ray is getting there. Kirby with another solid outing! I know it is just spring but feels so good to be excited about our system again! When I first joined the site in high school, no clue what my name was even back then, was for the draft debating Young vs Weeks for #2. That started the prime of the system & it feels those days are back!
  5. Aguilar.... another day, another bomb! I get your point but I think Aguilar is a guy you keep. You don't know what you have in Thames. Thames is also versatile & can move out to OF on some days. Overall, having a big power bat on bench who can walk is a big plus! I don't see him clearing wavers. He has proven everything he could in AAA. Give him a chance & if like Brad Nelson he falls flat on face.... you move on, nothing lost. Rivera has options. His D is only sell right now. Haven't see Scooters D yet off 2B. Think it comes down to a Scooter trade if they want Rivera or they give Scooter a chance to be a utility guy. Remember, Villar can play 2B,SS, 3B. Perez can play 7 positions. CC is not afraid to move guys around to find ABs for others & for hot bats
  6. Okay Brewers, let's get all these kids back down to minor league camp.... I am getting to excited! Diaz is on fire right now! Another double today! Erceg has been stellar! Brinson exciting! Dubon has started to rake a bit. Future is bright!
  7. Bandy gunned down two guys in one inning a few games back.... I'll take that! Doesn't hurt his bat has been pretty nice so far as well. Pina has been solid. Susac has been pretty awful at plate, with options he seems the easy choice to send down.
  8. Diaz in first game cranks double off wall. 2nd game he blasts a solo HR! These young guys are sure impressing!
  9. I don't think Thames has an impact at all. Weiters is a catcher and that is where his value is. He is not great defensively and 31 but why would he come to Brewers to focus on 1B over Catcher to rebuild stock? I could see a Lucroy situation where you give him day here & there off behind plate & throw at 1B to keep bat in lineup or give Thames day off.
  10. Feliz is only 28, if his deal is 2 years as I believe it is, he is a guy who could bring back something pretty nice with what the relief market is. Guy has a huge arm.... if he can get back to his promising & dominate ways, he is a great flip for this team. We need Texas Feliz back. Fangraphs has been raving about Santana & Broxton! It is great to see! They have elite exit velocity, both have outstanding understanding how the zone.... as long as they put ball in play consistently, they could have monster seasons! Braun, Braxton, Santana becomes extremely danagerous OF bats The biggest thing is all the ifs. Thames & Shaw, what do we have in them? Arcia, is he who we hoped he'd be? Villar & Perez, can they repeat? If they all hit maybe we are a 50/50 depending on pitching
  11. While Taylor Williams could be a nice starter, with all our depth and his arm history, I'd bit the bullet and just put in the bullpen. He'd be able to fast track quick to Milwaukee. It is a similar case with Thornburg. Thorny could have been a really nice starter. Still think he was the better of the two between him and Nelson. However, there wasn't a spot for him and he excelled as late inning reliever. Williams has the arm and Fastball/Slider combo to be a really good back end of the bullpen arm! He is more needed there than in the rotation.
  12. I like what they doing with Maker. I think Kidd is an outstanading coach and he will really help him get to where he needs to be. I think as the season continues to move forward, Maker will get more opportunities as match ups seem fit. Best way to learn is in game. It is a completely different tempo and energy that you don't recieve in practice. Get him in for short stints in higher pressure like yesterday to continue to develop his game and understanding of the schemes. I love his potential and you can see the talent is there. It is a marthon developing a championship team and the Bucks are doing a good job. Future is bright.
  13. Down the stretch, not having Middleton is killing us. Not only because he is our top shooting threat & most clutch BUT him on the floor alone opens up more space & openings for Giannis, Parker, Brogden & either Beas, Telli, or Moose. C Giannis PF Beasley SF Parker SG Middleton PG Brogden Is the closing shooting line up I'd love to see. I don't think there is a big in the league Giannis can't defend. All 5 can score & transition fast as well
  14. Personally if I'm building a team, I'm finding 3 CFers who get on base a ton, can hit well, and power upside would be nice. Broxton, Brinson, Phillips if he clicks again is what I'm thinking. Defense has to to be key. You have 3 Plus defensive CFs, that makes OF pretty small for an offense. Same goes with infield. 3 SS type guys filling 2b, SS, 3B is very important. You have an Arcia SS, Villar/Diaz 2B, and guys like Erceg, Lara, or a JJ Hardy type who have SS defensive ability but pop potential from corner. Id love Brewers to finally drop the power for a defensive mindset. In our park, guys will hit HRs. What I want is great defense, guys getting on base & are athletes to run, and pitching that is solid. Santana being able to play first would be the dream but don't think that will happen. He is enough of an athlete though to play OF but he is far from a plus defender out there. Some may disagree but high HRs, high Ks, and poor defense isn't the way we win a championship I don't think. Play outstanding defense, get on base, put ball in play, and pitch well.
  15. There is zero chance Woodruff turns into Ben Hendrickson.... Maybe a Neggy or Rogers ( even though both were more injury related). Ben topped out low 90s and was crafty. Woodruff tops out at 99 I've read. I remember his dad being on here, never got any messages but I was very high on Ben. It was nice though that his dad did more than just sit here & talk up his son. He discussed the system as a fan as well. Not a homer type poster like you'd expect out of a parent on a site like this. My favorite poster ever was probably coach! He was outstanding and Angel Salome was a top prospect we all loved so it was great to have this inside info on him! Def with what all was going on at the end of his time here! I was more Salome over Lucroy back in those days. Two examples why I do not work in front office lol Woodruff is such a mystery. He legit could be one of those guys who comes "out of nowhere" to be a top frontline guy. Davies, Hader, Woodruff, Lopez, Ortiz could all be in rotation by 2018 if he cleared space.... That is exciting!
  16. Same token though, it restricts you roster flexibility which is why it's tough to just fill 40 man with guys to protect. A guy is 2-3 years away, you are stuck with them that whole time otherwise you must pass them through waivers. Easier in my opinion to pass a guy through rule 5 draft with a chance to get player back if taken than to pass them through waivers. That under develop player either needs to stick on a 25 for full season or simply be added to a 40 man. A guy like Coulter probably would have tough time sticking on a 25 man but some team with less depth, he'd be a solid waiver pick up to throw on 40 man & let him develop. The Brewers are going to have a lot of issues like Houston has with 40 man spots & rule 5 guys. Issue with strong & deep systems. Our system will be survival of the fittest.
  17. I highly doubt that. He has had injuries that slowed him down but that a really nice young arm. You don't give those away for pennies on the dollar.
  18. No problem with it. Really you have WAY more investment in adding guys to protect from Rule 5 draft. Restricts 40-man pretty heavily if you add too many. Diaz for example is a good talent. No doubt. However, 1) good chance he'd be out of option by time he is ready 2) if you need a spot, you can't risk putting him through waivers.Rule 5 he must stay on 25 man all season.... Waivers, another team just needs to like arm enough to hide him on 40 man. That is way bigger risk than Rule 5 draft. You add expendable guys like Parker that could possibly help now or add depth. If you need room you can try to pass them through waivers and hope they clear. If they don't, we loss nothing. Waiver guys aren't sexy usually but you can find great talent. Late bloomers or guys who just never got opportunity. Some have had injuries. Never know, always worth a try. Storen stills needs to be signed, need spot for him, expendable waiver claims help with us landing our closer
  19. The forgotten man not mentioned in rotation or pull pen, what is plan for Jungmann? He compete for a bullpen spot or keep him starting? Can't send him to Springs.
  20. Suter? Didn't allow a run in any relief appearances. If not the rotation, why not try him as the closer? Not that they can't be successful but I'm not a fan of closers who toss 87-89....give me an explosive arm. Suter is solid middle relief guy.
  21. Think since he was drafted, Clark has been penciled in at LF in future. Arm is not impressive. Coulter's arm should be higher than a 60.... Guy has an absolute gun that I don't think is far off Phillips if not greater. It is whole reason they haven't put him at 1st. Hard to waste an arm like that & he defensively couldn't play 3b ( believe they gave him look in spring or fall instructs after leaving catcher).
  22. They did really that much, many of them were on different levels & moved through st different speeds. Difference is those guys really didn't have bad years and forced way up. A lot of our guys haven't. At lower level we are starting to see some surging by young guys in dominate ways like Diplan, Peralta, Diaz, Erceg. You hope that continues and they don't stall out
  23. Taylor & Coulter were just twice Top 50 prospects. Coulter's placement is what killed him. I have complained since last April because I believe he would have starred in Biloxi if there all season.
  24. I actually think that if Lopez was to start in MLB when spring training I think he would be really solid. He starts in AA, he will dominate. He goes to Springs....it won't be pretty. Hard to believe Phillips goes from top 20-50 prospect by BA to not even being Top 10 over Clark. Amazing how fast a bad season can drop you off radar.
  25. You hold onto Villar and hope he performs again like last year. He is too young, cheap, and controllable. If he continues his ways to mid season or for the full season, he will get a real nice package on his own. If we are packaging Braun with someone, it should be a starting arm. Villar has a place in our future right now, how many arms in the bigs can we say that about? Bleacher Report had an article the other day about fair trades that work both both teams and I hated it. Braun for 2b Calhoun & C Will Smith Brewers settle for something like that, I'd be very upset. Throw Puig in the okay but neither of those 2 seem like they will offer too much outside of more depth
