  1. Lutz homers in his debut. Nice way to start. Make that two. I like him already! They weren't kidding about the kid having some pop to his bat! Not a bad start at all!
  2. I think due to batting average, people don't realize how good or impressive Clark has been! Reading all these trade posts acting like he is more of a throw in or kind of a bust as a first round pick. Kid is young, power is starting to develop, walks at a 20% clip, steals bases, from what I heard, his arm and defensive have been been than expected this year, and the hitting will come with the K's dropping. Think most of us realize that he is young and maybe too picky with two strikes on him. His hitting approach as also change which could have lead to Ks remaining high. Also most likely plays role in batting average dip. He is hitting fly balls at a 40% clip where for his first two years he averaged around 25%. He averaged around 30% Pull% now up to 40% with his oppo% percent free falling from 45% to now 18% this year. He use to be more balanced to all fields, now he is more middle to pull. Still a 20% line drive hitter but his GB% to FB% have really reversed. 10 percent of his FB's are HR's compared to the 4-5% he was at. For most part, I like the way his hitting has change, however, hope the pulling to oppo even out. He can be a deadly hitter if he can get back to more balance between the two. It could be more advanced pitchers are pitching him inside due to him being known as a spray hitter and he maybe struggles more with pitches in. Not sure Overall, He is a wRC+ of 120 every year without hitting much and I am confident the average will grow. He is to good and natural at the plate not to. He should be a .300 type hitter but overall that whole team has struggled in that area. Hate that fangraphs doesn't have ability to get the soft, medium, hard percent for these milb guys, that would make breaking down swing and reason babip rise and fall. Like Diaz sitting a very low .297 for him. All I can see is the 10% rise in IFFB% to get hint that he is not centering on ball as well as usual.
  3. This is who I was going to bring up. I'm wondering if it would make some sense to bring him up and put him in the pen. Keeps his innings down and utilizes what appears to be a pretty solid talent. I think Burns has the stuff and better yet....he commands it all to perfection. Not electric or straight nasty as a Braddock (he could have been something special.....) but he has four pitches he can attack hitters with in nearly any count. He is a bulldog. I don't think he is an Ace but I do see him as a solid Chase Anderson type pitcher. I actually think Anderson is pretty good comp for him. Both can sit comfortably in the 91-94 range, are bulldogs who attack hitters, and have very good command. Both aren't nasty guys or over powering, however, throw hard enough and have enough movement while hitting spots to cause major issues to hitters. Like Chase he may have stretches like most command pitchers where he will be hit hard when not hitting all the spots or a key pitch isn't there but then also just go on lights out tears when on. Many don't want to start his clock or add him until next year but I'd love to see him get the call! For over 3 months now, he has been the most consistent and dominant pitcher in the milb! He had a quality start giving up 3 runs over 6 or 7 last week and I was disappointed that he pitched that bad lol It is a good sign when a 6-7 IP game only giving up 3 runs is your most horrid game of the season.
  4. I have been going through fangraphs tonight and surprisingly, Clint Coulter is actually the top offensive player at Biloxi. He is sitting with a wRC+of 124 and quietly been very good since first month (alone with Nottingham) He could still walk more and K less. Hit for more average would be nice but to some team, he would be an intriguing player still. He is pretty blocked up here, even if he switched to 1st base (wasting maybe the most special arm talent we have in system for OF...sorry Maverick, Clint may have you beat) Echoing many, hope Wilkerson gets a shot, even in bullpen for the Brewers. He is a solid arm. Too bad Houser and Barrios are out still, those guys could really have helped this year if arms were 100%
  5. Excited to start to see the Arizona team get younger. A heavily 22 year old loaded team wasn't very interesting to follow outside the wins. Overall, It looks like Brewers are targeting guys with really good approaches at the plate who take a lot of walks! The hitting and power may not all be there yet and maybe the K's are little high but seeing a professional approach at young ages is great! All guys below are under 20 and were higher picks or signings. Helena Gabe Garcia (19 years old) 17% bb% .427 OBP (.150 Higher) wRC+ 118 Chad McClanahan (19 years old) 14% bb% .310 OBP (.110 Higher) Payton Henry (20 years old) 7% bb% .368 OBP (.100 Higher) Arizona Young Bucks Frankie Thomas (18 years old) 20% bb% .400 OBP (.150 Higher) wRC+ 100 Nick Egnatuk (18 years old) 15% bb% .404 OBP (.140 Higher) wRC+ 107 Jesus Lujano (18 years old) 11% bb% .350 OBP (.80 Higher) wRC+ 93 ----30/28 bb/k last season DSL Big 4 signings Ernesto Martinez (18 years old) 29% bb% .452obp (.260 higher) wRC+ 124 Aaron Familia (18 years old)13% bb% .407 OBP (.120 Higher) wRC+ 160 Jean Carmona (17 years old) 9% bb% .402 OBP (.100 Higher) w RC+ 142 Pablo Abreau (17 years old) 8% bb% .368 OBP (.80 Higher) wRC+ 121
  6. Mirza Delly Henson & Snell all over 11 million a year.... that's the biggest issue. Snell is prob most worth it out of 4
  7. Mirza Delly Henson & Snell all over 11 million a year.... that's the biggest issue. Snell is prob most worth it out of 4
  8. Hader was sharp last night, Suter outstanding until 7th, Woodruff deserves a look once healed up.... note sure we need to clean out 3-4 top prospects. We have options in house until Chase is back & rest of way out.
  9. Name one good 3rd base coach fans think does great job.... you probably can't. This is because all fans from all teams focus on bad decisions & hindsight. Over look all good holds, sends, and choices they make. I personally love Sedar. He also fits the aggressive nature of a team with great athletes & speed. 3rd base coach is tough. You have to adjust to players speed, arm strength & accuracy of defenders & so on. If a less talented thrower makes perfect throw they usually don't or a usually talented & fast baserunner rounds too much/ stumbles a bit & gets gunned out.... that's out of their control. You play the norms. I think he does nothing to hurt the team. Plus he may be the most lovable & most loyal Brewer around. Moreover, he is also a very good teacher. Part of reason he has survived all the changes over all the years. Hard not to have soft spot for Eddy
  10. A's are pretty old & slow, they probably would want players who will be able to impact soon as possible. They'd want Broxton, Brinson or Phillips for sure. Ray is not hitting A+ ball very well.... he could be too far away for them to target. Villar or Dubon. Villar is struggling this season but is younger, cheaper, and much more athletic option for them. They have been dangling Lowrie so 2b should be open.
  11. Layer is one I thought would sign & am disappointed about. The rest I'm not shocked about and overall happy with the haul! Von Ward & Castillo both could be exciting! Didn't think we'd get Bullock since he could have been a 2 way player at UNC but that is a good snag. Seemed Brewers liked Lazar a lot, know nothing about him but hopefully he is a stud! Arizona line up should get a little more interesting with some of these guys in the fold!
  12. Freddy Peralta is just electric! Those K numbers are through the roof! Thought AA from A+ was suppose to be big jump! Burns & Peralta have both hit ground running!
  13. Let us not forget Gray was not good last year and has pitched better last 10 or so starts but has been far from ace level. Q stock has really dropped this season. He as well has been better last 10 starts or so but again far from dominant.... we aren't targeting guys who are pitching like aces & dominating. They have potential to & have showed potential to do so, however, that hasn't been them consistently this season. We are not getting a guy who is coming out every 5th night right now expected to dominate. You are really trading away your system for Jimmy Nelson. I don't think adding either and giving up 3-4 top prospects really makes us stronger as a whole. I'd give up the farm for Archer if he was available because each time he is on mound....you know he will have you right there to win & he's controlled. He is a difference maker consistently! Quintana has not been that impressive this year. I don't even know if Gray is top pitcher on the As staff. Pretty darn good lefty sitting right there as well in Sean Manaea. Why am I giving up the farm for guys you can't trust right now? Why we cleaning house for a guy who hasn't starred since 13'-14'? All comes down to value. Are you going to get enough production from these guys to offset giving up 3-4 of your top prospects? I'm not high enough on either to say yes. I could do Phillips, Ortiz, Ponce, and maybe a write off like Ty Taylor, or low level guy. I think that value is reasonable. If they want Brinson, Hader, Woodruff, and few others.... I don't even consider. That is because Brinson is ahead of Phillips, I'm not as high on Ortiz as most, Ponce is solid but not can't miss... and write off or rookie baller is tolerable.

  15. Favorite post on any trade discussion!!! Finish season, see how it all shakes out. What we have in guys like Woodruff. Go into off season making team stronger & upgrading where needed. I like to see more than 3 months of good baseball before calling us contenders & selling off the farm this early in rebuild. I think there are expendable guys we can afford to trade, guys I'd like to see progress & build more value, and many that I am not willing to give up yet. By October, we will have much more realistic view of where we are.... let's not jump gun yet.
  16. Sadly my guess is we will lose 1 top OF Brinson Phillips or Cordell(Ray depending on pitcher involved) 1 Top SP Hader, Woodruff, Burns, Ortiz 1 high ceiling A baller Diplan, Peralta (even though promoted), Clark, Harrison, Diaz, Erceg, Ponce, Bickford or Gatewood One wildcard player with high ceiling OR wildcard change of scenery Demi O, Mallin, Herrera, Lujano, and etc Or Lopez, Coulter, T. Taylor My guess Phillips, Woodruff, Peralta, and Demi O type package could get it done. I know most of you are all for cleaning house for Q or Sonny but to me.... I say stay pat. Two of Braun, Santana, Broxton, Brinson, Phillips, and Cordell will need to go by next season. With how much they rotate, you can keep 4 and get them all starter number of ABs. Brewers have to decide how they want to approach that and if they are ready now. Since Cordell can't play CF well and Brewers haven't gave him work at 3b & 1b so he is easy choice. Last one is tough. I much prefer Woodruff & Hader get real looks & Burnes looks very promising. They could really use Broxton now... that may also ease pain of of the pitchers we give up. Broxton Is proven so you would be putting a lot of hope in Brinson to click & take off
  17. Cheers to be one of the few who is hoping and praying DS doesn't pull the trigger and sticks to the plan. We aren't there yet. We are trending up due to great player evaluation, smart trades & waiver pick ups and absolutely great managing by Craig & staff. However, If any of you think Gray or Quintana push us over top to next level... I would disagree. They are not CC or Greinke who have that ability and are true Ace type pitchers. They are very good solid #2s or a Gallardo type of "Ace" and controllable. If this was 2019, go for it! Right now, we are just not there yet. Moreover, teams can buy low on many of our top prospects. Diplan, Ray, Clark, Ercreg, and so forth. Hard to believe that none of their stock will never be higher in the future. All have high ceilings but are just struggling right now. I like to keep reminding, before season we thought this was a 6-75 win team.... battling it out for last place with Reds for last place & fighting for top 5-10 pick. Our roster is no different except many are overachieving expectations right now. Will that all last? Is this roster really that much better today than it was April 1st? Sustainable? We are talking about trading our future right now which means many of you feel that same roster that no one really thought could win even 80 games is on the same level as the Nationals, Dodgers, Cubs.... I think soon we will be soon but need to stick to plan.
  18. Prospects values don't start to hit peak until success at AA-AAA. Prospects are assets. I don't believe all these guys will beat out some of the guys we have in front of them but build their value up until we are true contenders.
  19. Exactly! We may make a run to playoffs but we are not on the level of some of those other teams. This trade will not get us there either. When we got CC & Greinke, we were on that level with star power. People just get over excited over a little success. Throw away future to chase a mere playoff bid. In March we didn't think this team would win more than 75 games but halfway through season we want to abandon the plan?
  20. ANY PLAYER IN BASEBALL???? Stearns almost got that much for Tyler friggin Thornburg. lol Thorburg actual vs Gray proposal Travis Shaw = Corey Ray Mauricio Dubon = Maurico Dubon Josh Pennington = Marcos Diplan So basically OF Trent Clark's inclusion in my Gray proposal would be the difference between 2 1/2 years of Sonny Gray vs 3 years of Thornburg. I think it's a fair offer and like I said predict the A's actually get more. So because one GM overpaid a ton.... that is the blueprint for Stearns to follow? Good call.... Gray & a possible playoff appearance is in no way worth our future...Hard pass. Stick to the plan... clearing house now would be awful move
  21. The sound of the ball off the bat could easily rate him #38. More to being a prospect than stats.... While he has been down, Diaz can flat out square up on every ball & hit hard balls all over the field. Sometimes it's bad luck, sometimes mental, or maybe mechanical... doesn't change that he is a major prospect in minor league baseball.
  22. This is the whole reason internally I kind of hope Brewers have a rough month & drop down from "contender." Gray, no Gray, they are not ready to win a World Series yet.... why give away our system simply to say we made the playoffs? Your trade is dealing 5 guys that are rated in our top 10 by most. This is not our season, it is a step in right direction towards our future goals. Why are some in such a hurry to completely abandon the plan? Our guys we hope to build around mostly haven't made it to MLB or experienced any success yet. Santana, Braxton, Arica, Villar, Thames are still growing and adjusting. Give the rebuild some time. No need to rush process. Do it right, keep developing strong system, and the strongest survive, trade the others.... we aren't to that point yet.
  23. 2 Miami 1-1 3 Baltimore 1-2 1 @ Cubs 0-1 3 @ NY Yankees 1-2 3 Philly 2-1 4 @ Pitt 2-1 3 @ Philly 2-1 3 @ Washington 1-2 3 Cubs 2-1 I have 12-12. Cubs, Nats, Yankees, O's, and Pitt has been tough for Crew. If they escape even, that's a win. Biggest thing, avoid all sweeps. 14-10 is about as good as I can see happening. 8-16 worst case... maybe a benefit though, get people away from thought of us buying at deadline. Keep us on the plan.
  24. For me, too early in rebuild for trade like this. With or without Verlander we are not a World Series contender yet. I know playoffs are exciting and all but this team needs more than Verlander to move to next tier. Stick to plan. Maybe add solid reliever or two for a reasonable price and see what happens. 3 months ago we were hoping Brewers would just win at least 70 games maybe 75. Don't think we are to point to ditch the rebuild plan just for the hope to hold off Cubs for playoff spot. Maybe this time next season will be different story... hopefully but not now.
