  1. I think he will sign fairly quick. This is pretty close to where they (his dad & him) thought he'd go. They said the had a round in mind they were willing to go to. Overall, it sounded like he wants to play pro ball. Dad was excited he tore it up for Brewers during workout.
  2. I was at his 18 k game, never seen such a gorgeous pitch!
  3. LouisEly, thought the same thing when reading it. Sheets jumped in head right away
  4. I like the Braden Webb pick, sits low 90s but frequently hits 95-96. A true 12-6 curve. He has had a great 1st season back after TJ senior year & taking all last year off to rehab.... Arm will only improve longer removed he is from surgery & more he pitches!
  5. Krook has all the potential in world but hasn't bounced back to form after TJ. Good risk to take. The arm is there. Jesus Luzardo is my top target personally. Before TJ, he looked like he could be a guy to drop into mid-late 1st round. Bobby Dalbec = Will Middlebrook correct? Am I wrong? Bat has potential though. Heath Quinn would be nice snag Another arm Mike Shawaryn
  6. The more I read & listen to Ray, he is a hard guy not to like & cheer for. He really is a class act with incredible work ethic & effort. While I liked other guys better as prospects & ceiling, I'll be a Ray fan & root for him to make it. At end of day, he is great kid, athlete, and most important, he's a Brewer... He could possibly help this team down the road. I have said whole time he is a good player, will be solid MLB but just didnt think he had the star potential tools that others had. Time will tell, hope he makes me eat every word. Hopefully they land some high upside guys today! Mendoza has been said to be a near lock for college. Would love a HS arm right away in 3rd. As mention before about Houston in rounds 3-6..... Brewers already are experiencing the benefits of that since both Philliips & Nottingham went in the 6th round to them in back to back years.....
  7. I completely agree, Senzel (bat), Lewis (bat/power) Pint (velocity) , Colliens (Power) seem the most likely targets. In 1st round he wanted elite power arm (Rogers & Jeffress), Advanced bat (Braun), Explosive/ Electric bat (Weeks & Lawrie), & Pure power (Laporta) Jack Z really had a type in the 1st round. He could care less if you could field a ball or play defense as long as they could hit.
  8. Webster at Bleacher gave Brewers an A- for there draft. Reds got an A, they had a very nice draft with Senzel, Trammel, Okey. Cards & pirates got B+. Love Cardinals draft....it is very depressing actually. They will turn Jones & Hudson into very productive MLB guys. Perez.... Well hope he bust now. Predictions Ray to Wisconsin Erceg to Helena Feliciano to Arizona (DSL has 4 catchers already)
  9. After my irrational, disappointment tantrum, I have came around on Ray. Just so many "sexy" picks right there for us. I trust Stearns, Arnold, Montgomery, and the rest of the guys. They are smart and know what they are doing. Fan of last two picks. You have a high ceiling college guy who could easily boom or bust, those are the guys I want in the system. Feliciano I really like, said other day I wanted a highly drafted HS catcher to develop. Love his bat, age, and his size won't force him off. At 17, there is a chance you can still teach him to catch. With recent international catching prospects signed & Feliciano, we now have an exciting stable to follow in DSL to Helena. Wonder if he starts in Arizona or DSL.
  10. In no way was I comparing Ray to Braun, simply crazy to think that Ray doesn't not have the ability to steal 40 bases. I get that few players these days are doing it but doesn't mean he realistically 100% cannot. That is one of his best tools. Where Braun comes in was in he was an example of how even a guy who isn't really considered an elite runner or true threat on bases has stole 30+ before. He is very good but that isn't really his game. It is Ray's though. Brewers are very aggressive & will let him run often (considering CC is still around). Gregmac understand what I was getting at with Villar. Overall, he appears to be an ordinary guy who is given the green light to go whenever. What is to say CC wouldn't give Ray the same opportunity? You state never be able to steal 40 bases as an absolute. Then you discuss how players have random years where they just go off and accomplish something significant..... So you're saying Ray is incapable of having one of those seasons. I contest that and say you are wrong. He has the skills, ability, and manager to do so. I doubt he is a 40 steal guy a season. It's not easy. I see him more in the 25-30 range. However, it is possible that he sneaks up to 40. It is arguably his top tool.
  11. From minorleagueball "Feliciano is a lottery ticket that someone will pop higher than expected. It may be unlikely he sticks at catcher, but he has some impressive raw power. He's also one of the youngest players in the draft, as he will be 17 years, 6 months old at draft time. Put it all together, and he could be 5 spots too low on this list, and gone by the end of the second round."
  12. While I was ridiculous, irrational, and not overly happy with the Ray, one thing I do love about him is he is outstanding on the bases & at stealing. Stealing is about timing, anticipation, explosiveness, and speed helps. Ray is an athlete but doesn't run a 6.3-6.4 but he has amazing instincts, jumps, and smarts when it comes to stealing. Villar is leading MLB in steals & it not because he is so fast but he has those skills. I think Ray could steal 40. Braun has stolen 30 & 33 before.... Do you feel he possesses that much better ability than Ray on the bases?
  13. From the sounds of it, Brewers have been on him for awhile, my guess is they already have a deal and amount in place for him. My hope is 3.2-3.6 million. Think that is a fair underslot for him. I don't see Brewers picking him if they knew they would have to pay slot. They do that research & the numbers attached.
  14. AL East getting some exciting young talent! Boston gets Groome Rays get Lowe Yankees get Rutherford The pressure is now on Os & Jays!
  15. Where are the Ray scouting reports saying he has a low ceiling? If he sticks in CF and develops more power he is a potential 30-30 guy up the middle... 30/30?! Scouts are hoping he can maybe give you 20 Hrs. He doesn't have much size, swing doesn't really have much lift to it, and yeah I can understand 20/20 as in like 20-22 HRs, 30.... That's really being optimistic.
  16. Anyone annoyed by how long the draft has become? Picks use to come pretty quick & now it seems like each year it gets slower and slower. I know they want to be more like NFL & NBA draft but not a fan. I've settled in on the Ray pick now. Really it's over & done with. Nothing to do but think positive, embrace it, and hope for the best. Honestly, our OF prospects haven't shown anything really this year. Coulter, Taylor, Harrison couldn't all be worse than they are now. Phillips & Clark are okay but not staring by any means. Colleymore & Belonis, Rubio seem to be moving in right direction but they aren't MLB starters as of right now. Hopefully he can come in and produce.
  17. Trout went like 25th forcing Brewers to go Arnett. Guys fall all the time. Maybe if Brewers didn't draft Ray, he would have dropped as well... Never know. Hope I'm wrong. He'll start in Wisconsin I'm guessing & after I see him in person my mind will change. Just disappointed, Groome, Lowe, & Garrett were my favorites. Still think in a few years Lowe will be the guy most teams regret passing on.
  18. This is just ridiculous. I mean, come on. Yeah little irrational posting. Passed on a lot of talent for the one guy I absolutely did not want at 5. I don't take back the better version of Michael Reed because I think they are similar. Both are good enough athletes to play CF but both will never be the best option out there...the desperate need for a bat or body are only two reasons to play them there. Both will walk a ton, steal a bunch of bases, carry high OBPs. Ray will hit for more average and hopefully more power. Reed has the arm to play MLB RF, Ray.... His arm will be closer to Aoki out there. I have said, I tried to watch him, like him, think positive of him but he just doesn't jump off page at all to me. He is just solid. I bet as a college bat, he will crush through the lower levels as he should. However, unlike Braun or other top prospects I don't see his bat forcing its way into the majors and becoming an impact bat. I pray I am wrong, he becomes the next Mookie Betts but I just don't see it at all. I rather just went underslot with Colliens or someone. Now we won't even be able to make up for this with big overslot at 45. Ray will get his 4 million & yup. Just not a fan.
  19. That is his ceiling sadly imo. He is a better version of Michael Reed..... Ughhhhh Reed was a 5th pick, not #5 overall! All Stearns BS talk about upside & ceiling....then he does this, come on! I have been the biggest Stearns & Montgomery homer around....I am thank you'd with a kick to the "boys" Sorry rant over.... I'll move on from this disappointment. Just need to stop posting, rationalize & accept what just happened, and pretend like drafting a .270-.280 average 10-15 HR LF at #5 is fine
  20. Glad I wasted last year hyped & studying for this pick.....He better underslot at no more than 2 million. The one guy out of like the top 15 I was dead set against! Throw him in BC right away & see how he does.... I don't think Belonis, Clark, Harrison, Denson should be forced out of Wisconsin due to poor drafting
  21. Well Anderson will go 3 to Braves, Pint has been rumored to be 1b for Rockies if Moniak went prior..... Lewis, Puk, Ray, Groome, Rutherford, Lowe, Garrett, Colliens, and etc Going to be interesting!
  22. I just can't rationalize passing on Groome if he is there. He is the dream HS lefty pitching prospect. Like if you were to create the dream pitcher, it'd turn out to be a lot like him. Only knock is a developing change up. 6'6, strong & durable frame, lefty, clean mechanics, good arm slot, sits mid 90s with FB topping at 97-98, great command of it, unbelievable and far advanced curveball, great command of it, and yeah..... Want ur lottery ticket, here it is!
  23. Wonder what's up with Aaron Familia, has yet to debut I believe.
