  1. Groome has done an awful job leveraging. He has said in multiple interviews he doesn't like school, doesn't want to play in college, & he wants to start his pro career. He's incredibly signable.
  2. Villar is just going off right now! Since fans are clueless hopefully managers know what they are doing for voting.
  3. Like Garrett a lot, he has forced his way into a top 10-15 lock. If he can bump from 90-93 to 92-95 as his body matures.... With his skill set & natural stuff on the mound, he could be a great front line guy! I still go Groome first since he already has the FB & one of the deadliest curveballs in a long time for a prep pitcher. Garrett I think is more of the sure thing to contribute in the MLB even if it is just a back end guy. Ray just doesn't have the upside of the other guys we can take. We aren't in a position to play it safe. We need game changing talent that can transcend. Groome, Pint, Perez, Moniak all have a or multiple game breaking tools. Rutherford is a guy many scouts believe is in same boat. Even Lowe has the power tool & defensive tool (his arm is unreal at 3rd) to be a stud.
  4. Yea but you liked the Jungmann pick so you broke even... Yup, and he was a very good big league pitcher last year. Now he's pitching hurt. He'll be back. Jungmann was one of the better selections out of that draft round. Jungmann really was never that impressive in the minors, came up pitched great for 10-11 games then has been awful since last late July..... I haven't heard he has been pitching injuried... They keep putting him out there. Track record says his success was more of a fluke than his struggles. I hated the Jungmann pick & still don't believe much in him
  5. If Arcia was hitting .330+, walking at a 10% clip, getting tons of extra base hits & just dominant I would be fine calling him up but honestly he is simply have a good season. Hasnt lit the world on fire and there are still things to improve upon. With Villar playing at an All-Star level, no need to rush
  6. I would be good with Blake if Groome is already gone. Otherwise if Groome is still on the board... I would take Groome over anyone. Same, my board is: 1. Groome 2a Perez 2b Pint 2c Rutherford 2d Moniak 3a Lewis 3b Puk 4a Senzel 4b Garrett 4c Ray 4d Manning 4e Collins 4f Lowe
  7. In a response I got from Ellis, all his sources have lead him to believe Rutherford to Brewers is a sure thing regardless who is on the board still. My comment to him (that he responded to was) I have a tough seeing the Brewers pass on Groome at #5 if he falls, however, I could see them go Rutherford over Pint, Perez, Moniak.
  8. The way Villar has been playing really has me wondering if he should be an All-Star this season. As I debated that, I started to think overall, what Brewers deserve to be All-Stars (despite record, solely based on performance. Ryan Braun despite injuries is having one of the best seasons in baseball & still carries a 1.000 OPS. Hitting .350 with 9 Hrs looks great so far as well. NL OF is pretty stacked right now, he is only 13th in WAR. Lucroy is back! #1 War catcher in NL. Hitting .300 & has blasted all 9 bombs in May. He is leading in HRs, RBIs, and Runs. Villar is 3rd for NL SS's in WAR. While he doesn't have the power numbers of the other top SS his OBP of .410 is crushing the rest! He leads all NL with 19 SBs, his slugging is still not far behind his competition, RBIs are up there, and overall he is having a fantastic season! Jeffress & Nelson could be options but their overall numbers aren't elite. Jeffress only has 7 k/9 & Jimmys FIP isn't overally impressive.
  9. Nottingham up to .250 BA. Hit .300 in May. Hopefully he continues to heat up. Woodruff back to doing Woodruff things. Each start he has improved. Control hasn't been there yet though. He is a curious prospect. Flanigan had good words to say about him & that he is a guy they are excited for.
  10. Yeah they've gotten off to a rough start. He also wasn't the GM of that team and people do learn things and take different approaches. They made poor decisions. The had a great rebuild going, they experienced a little success, they sold off the farm and decided to go for it. The guys they brought in have been terrible. Guys who had big years last year are down. Brewers CANNOT rush the rebuild. Don't experience a little success, then go all in. Astros like the Bucks took a two-three step leap forward no they are falling back to where they really were....not there yet.
  11. Is it bad that I'm more excited over Gatewood walks than I am Gatewood HRs? Lol Any notice that McDowell, a catcher, already has 8 steals?! Impressed! Denson is just locked in. With this being his 3rd part year in Wisconsin, I could see a promotion in a month or 2. Rubio getting hot! Hopefully he is finally starting to click & put tools together the way Belonis has been!
  12. well that is not too shabby! Thankfully he has finally got healthy and is flashing why scouts were all over him after his AZ league debut a couple years ago!
  13. Power? Not check. 3 doubles so far? Brutal. Also 3 triples, 4 HRs, and is slugging .450 again this season as he did last year. 21 year old whose body has yet to really start to mature. His natural swing alone offers a very good projection once he adds strength. By the time he hits 24-25 I could easily see him at 15 HRs a season with a whole bunch of doubles and triples. He's never going to be Correa or a young ARod with the bat but think Lindor is realistic and very livable
  14. [sarcasm]Didn't realize that it was already settled that these teenage OF prospects are incapable of ever playing RF, thanks for the tip!!![/sarcasm] Sure they can play right field but same as center, they can play it but that means you simply have no better options. Aoki played RF, his arm wasn't very good either but Brewers did so. If your happy with filling holes defensively based on needing their bats.... Fine. All I know as an opposing manager, if Clark & Ray are your CF/RF combo, I'm running & taking extra bases. Moreover, if they are lined up CF/RF..... LF must be Khris Davis 2.0 with the arm..... Moreover Ray isn't actually a teenager anymore.... He is also a three year college guy, and his body is not projectable, so I don't see a huge surge in arm strength coming..... Both are solid players and good defenders but it's not just me who says that. Most scouts project both as LFs in MLB. That is their tool set. If they must play CF/RF for us, it is simply because we do not have the ideal guys in place. RF should have big arm like Coulter or Harrison. CF should be outstanding athlete with good to plus arm.
  15. Gatewood also made 2 errors today. He's 20, learning new position, and in A ball. I won't be concerned with the errors until he gets up to AA/AAA, has few years over there, and needs to be performing. He was a very solid SS if ever actually watched him play. He was just big and not as quick & rangy as others. I'm sure he will be fine. Walks & Ks are the two things I worry most about with him.
  16. At least Hader had a few walks today....Overall, 39 AA games and he is dominant. I understand wanting him to start to get deeper in games and that is probably the biggest need for him to stay but still think sooner than later we needs to get the bump.
  17. Both will be MLB LF'ers so no I can't imagine that. Ray has never been good enough to start in CF for his college. Defensively he is Michael Reed. Probably not bad, but there will be a handful of better options. Same goes for Clark very few people talk him up as a future starting CF. Most scouts project LF. They may say "has a chance" but if he is our very best defensive CF when time comes..... That'd be very disappointing. Good athlete, okay arm, smart, but not a guy who will shrink OF, hold runners, or be much more than league average to below.
  18. Kodi needs to go back down, call up Burkhalter or one of the other arms. Even at Wisconsin he'd be one of youngest players still in league at 19. He has stuff he needs to figure out badly, it's not working in BC. Build him back up.
  19. My focus has solely been in the top 5. After 5 I haven't paid any attention or know what those teams are looking at. That said, I'll let more informed people post 6-10. I'll just be picking randomly if I did. Now 1-5 Phillies 1. Puk - really this pick is between Puk, Lewis, and long shot Mickey. It is said to be between 5 players with Groome & Pint completely off the list. After how well Nola has worked out, I think another college, fast moving, talented pitcher could make most sense. http://www.nj.com/sports/index.ssf/2016/05/2016_mlb_draft_jason_groome_phillies_braves.html 1a Puk 1b Lewis 1c Mickey Reds- Lewis Everything I have read is Reds are going to college. Puk if on board would be tough to pass on but I have mostly read they want to go college bat. This leaves it to three guys: Lewis, Ray, or Senzel. Lewis to me has highest ceiling but most risk. You get what you get with Ray & Senzel. They will be MLB contributors. Lewis is ur Rickie Weeks, small school but all tools in world player. 3.Braves Groome - Two players here I believe. It would be Lewis or Groome. Lewis off board. Groome is their man. That front office won't pass on him I don't think. 4. Rockies Moniak- From what I have read, if Mickey goes #1, Rockies may go into a state of depression. It appears they really have heart set on him 5. Brewers- Pint. Honestly Groome making it to 5 would have me streaking down my block but I'm not getting hopes up. With this board, Pint or Perez (Rutherford is okay to) are my three guys left. Some sleepers like Wentz, Lowe, Garrett I wouldn't mind. Collins is your LaPorta pick; same bat, same chance of staying behind plate, but will mash & move quick. Has 1st base body at 6'3 220. Would start in Wisconsin, be in BC to start next season. Ray just doesn't interest me. He's a very good player and well rounded but we have enough OFs & he doesn't have any monster tools that standout more than the rest
  20. You know.... A little more flow to Diplan's hair, with the beard, he kind of looks like Yo on the mound in the video. As I say every 5th day, Peralta/Diplan days are my favorite days! They just keep getting better!
  21. Diplan & Peralta maybe Gatewood & Denson have most helium as prospects right now in lower levels. In my eyes, Diplan is pushing past Devin Williams & Mederois (get Williams has been hurt & Kodi at same age is pitching at a higher level but minus opening day where he pitched in 28 degrees, snow, and 20+ mph wind, he has been electric and pure dominate). We are just getting to know Peralta but what an impression he is making! Gatewood is learning to take a few walks away from sky rocketing up the list.... Denson is moving back to 1st base away from being a real prospect.... He doesn't have a real future here in the OF.... He can't even touch field defensively for T Rats. I don't understand the decision to move him off of 1st. Good news his bat is where we hoped it'd get back to. Now needs to start flashing more pop. Belonis & Rubio deserve some considerations for late votes. Perrin is an acceptance letter from Harvard Law School from retiring. Interesting arm though. Woodruff in AA will tell us a lot about him.
  22. 10 out of 10 times I pick Mickey or Blake over Ray. Lewis is a beast so I have no issue him. I have never bought into Ray. He has never been best CF on his own team, doubt he will be in the minors. His arm can only play in left then. To me he is Michael Reed type player. Reed very well could be a good every day starter in the MLB like Ray but I don't see Ray ever being the can't miss guy you want at #5. To me, he doesn't have any tools that really pop. Mickey can flat out rake and run. Ray has a good hit tool and good speed but Mickey if he adds some pop could be special. Rutherford is just that all around guy who can hit for average, power, has good enough arm for right, and could develop into an All-Star caliber player that I don't see in Ray. Perez is so young and glowing with upside. He will be 17 all his first rookie season. Next year he could play all of Helena at 18. By 19 be in Wisconsin (Rutherford is already 19). His projections are through the roof with his body type and natural abilities. Pint and Groome......Don't see how you pass on either. Pint maybe but Groome, you don't even think of passing on imo. Brewers need a guy with his star potential too much.
  23. Silver lining is 1) Trent Clark is 19 in his 2nd week of A ball, he's hitting a good amount of doubles, & his bb rate is insane! Has he came in like Trout & destroyed pitching? No, not yet. However, his advanced approach at plate is extremely great to see. If Gatewood showed a tenth of that, he'd be top prospect in MWL! Think it is easier to improve as a hitter as it is to become patient at plate. Overall like said above, he has been safe at plate.... Not very aggressive....well he is 19 & with confidence he will improve. 2) Hader if unable to remain starter will be an untouchable backend lefty. I'm not going to cry for have 6 years of a guy closing games who 1) guys don't make contact against 2) when they do, it's very weak contact. He is nasty. It'd be great if guys were just racking but it's early. Bunch of guys are hot in May & getting going
  24. Have to remember Home Runs are shiny..... getting on base is dull. To some the fact that a player can't walk, hit, play defense, or do really anything else productive for a team doesn't matter if they hit home runs. Nottingham can hit hit .160 and hold a higher OBP than Davis
  25. Labissiere is an extremely raw John Henson. He was benched at UK. It is players like him that make me dislike the NBA draft system so much!He is a guy who needs three years in college to develop. He is going to be drafted, ride the bench and not develop properly because he is too weak, to raw, and can't get the valuable minutes. The team will eventually quit on him and he will because a league journeyman, playing overseas, in the D-League, or out completely. If it was up to me, you would need to play three years of college before entering UNLESS you have a consensus top 10 draft grade. If a kid is a lock like Ingram or Simmons to be a top 5-top 10 pick after freshman year (Maybe even include a top 5 grade for a high school kid) then let them in. They may have a future. For overseas, 20 years of age and two years removed from High School graduation (for the Brandon Jennings type). 20 years old for international players. Remember that is all IF they do not receive a top 10 grade. There is such a rush to get these guys into the league and very raw do they actually amount to much right away. Back in the day, guys came into the NBA with the ability to make an impact, now you know it may be 2-3 years before they ever show much. Diamond Stone, I personally think is nearly undraftable! He is fat, weak, slow, skill set is under developed offensively and defensively. He needed 2-3 more years of college..... now his NBA career is very unbright. Rant over
