  1. Any idea on why Hiura came out there? Assuming defense and basically quitting while we're ahead on a very good day at the plate...hoping, maybe.
  2. Yeah, this is good. I thought infield fly right away off the bat, and that SHOULD have been routine given where VanMeter started. It just gets tricky with shifts because "ordinary effort" changes a whole lot depending on starting position.
  3. They did score 4, right? And won? Wow. Edit: forgot the late FTs. Still...
  4. Been some good matches. Hard to believe England is the favorite. Belgium looks worth the hype, but there are for sure 5 or 6 teams that look good enough to win. Germany is a team I can't figure out. Great 2nd half from them today, but they've looked pretty bad in qualifying. Interested in seeing if the second tier of teams can break through.
  5. Due for some regression. Was hoping to get one; didn't happen. This team is about where it should be. Hit the reset (and get healthy), put together a winning road trip, all is good.
  6. This game might end up 12-10. Depends on if Gutierrez can go 6. Not a lot in the cupboard for anyone...
  7. Yeah, Lauer does not look like a guy who belongs on a big league mound tonight...margin of error is awfully thin for a guy with his repetoire.
  8. Have a feeling the Crew is due for a speedbump here, but hope they can win the series. Tonight feels like edge Reds, tomorrow about even, Wednesday edge Brewers, but we will see.
  9. Only reason I can think of Yardley is to try to give Hader a day. Last night was his first outing in a while, so he should be reasonably fresh, but maybe don't want to put him on a back-to-back after like 4 days off? Williams/Box 8-9? We will see. Hope it works.
  10. Lots going wrong. Burnes has also not been all that sharp, despite the weak contact. Weirdly enough, I feel like this collection of misfits is going to get some runs today.
  11. I think the Cards are better than the Cubs overall. Not the worst thing in the world for them to keep losing. I fear them (and dislike them) more long-term.
  12. Was thinking the same thing. The effort is there, at least, and the game can always use a few hustle guys. Especially when they can take walks.
  13. Enjoyed Gamel while he was here. He was all over that. Woody pitching to contact tonight.
  14. Agreed on both counts. There are some very bad announcers around the league, but I don't think Grindle or Levering are among them. My only issue with the two of them is that I have a hard time distinguishing which is which when they're on the same broadcast. Yeah, Jeff and Lane are a very good radio team. They're into the game, have good banter, and include stats well. They both have a bit of a "broadcaster voice" thing going on, but that's very minor. Honestly haven't heard a better duo.
  15. Team has been so hot lately, that a series L would feel worse than it actually would be. Still, hoping Freddy keeps it rolling. Gotta say, I love AM start times here in the Central. Lookong forward to a nice day of baseball.
  16. This has the feel of one of those nutso GAB games. Or maybe the Reds will kist win 8-1. Thinking the Crew can put up.some runs tonight, though.
  17. Hm. Well, there it is then. I think that's silly in this situation bc the umpires "award" second base on these kinds of plays. It's the automatic result of the play. But whatever, right? Good win!
  18. He should get the double, I think. It's a dead ball. The only reason you even need to touch first is because of the force play, and that's off the table once ruled a GRD.
