  1. I have some friends that were livid about Hader's use. I was too during game, but after, it made sense. Like Counsell is some kind of wizard. I don't get being upset that Hader didn't finish the game...we...won? You would prefer him going out there to throw 35 pitches and be assured he can't play today and probably not tomorrow? Jeffress gave up hits to two superstars and then got out of it with a donut on the board. That had to help him mentally. Hader threw 8 pitches. We won. Basically every pitcher on the staff is available today. People are weird and need to calm down. I have to agree, I didn't mind going to hader and was a bit nervous when he went to Jeffress. Overall, that decision was excellent for everything except my blood pressure. Even if they don't use hader today, the threat exists and he's available.
  2. The only guy I would say is 100% unavailable is Chacin. Jeffress they probably try not to use...let him dwell on his success for a day. I doubt they'd go multiple innings with Knebel again. I'm guessing if GG and Woodruff can get us through 6 with a 2 run lead, it's probably Soria, Knebel, Hader in some order for the last 3 innings. If Peralta doesn't pitch today, I'll be that much more convinced that he's purely a security blanket. The extra innings/blowout pitcher that we hope to never use.
  3. All I got was the same as you all. WC and Game 5 scheduled for refund on October 10th, allow 3-5 business days. I find it a bit annoying that she didn't check on it for me considering it's the 4th business day. So either it shows up tomorrow or I have a legitimate beef. Also, usually when provided a timeframe like that...it will show up well before and the 5th business day is moreso cushion than anything. Like when you order something with free shipping but it says allow 7-10 days for delivery...it will usually show up 3 days later. I don't fully trust I'm going to see this refund tomorrow.
  4. I tend to agree on Smoltz, he generally seems fairly sharp...though he was a bit of a dope on the MM interference stuff, but I would call that less bias and more just getting it wrong. Buck I just find to be a generally annoying human, I don't enjoy his play by play...possibly because I'm so spoiled with BA. They definitely talk more about the dodgers than the brewers...as do the fs1 guys, but it's probably moreso because the network is pushing it that way a bit and the dodgers have more known names than the Brewers. The Dodgers made the WS last year while the brewers have a ton of youth and unknown. It shouldn't be surprising that these guys are assuming that the high paid big market guys will inevitably overtake the brewers.
  5. Couldn't agree more, his ability to make contact is excellent...at least when he's not swinging at pitches 2 feet off the plate. Good mechanics and a better eye at the plate could yield excellent results. I feel like the Yelich trade was a HR already, if he's helping other guys get better at the plate...I'm not sure how much better that trade can get at this point.
  6. I'm going to ask my rep today. I don't want to have to babysit all these transactions and sit here wondering why they haven't come through.
  7. Agreed. We don't necessarily have to use Hader tomorrow, but the threat of him exists. It's a shame Woodruff had to throw a bit. Makes me wonder if he'll be held out tomorrow and pitch behind Miley on Wednesday. Maybe we go GG, Peralta, Guerra tomorrow.
  8. There's a hot take if I ever saw one! Well Puig trash talked him during that at-bat, telling JJ to throw him a strike. After the walk (ball 4 was a gift) JJ proceeded to bear down and K Grandal and Dozier. And with the crap Machado has pulled in this series, he is most definitely a turd. I didn't realize he did that...and I wasn't about to argue with ya.
  9. Too bad grandal didn't throw the ball into CF on that caught stealing...he could have topped Arcia and possibly Chacin!
  10. That HR he hit was absolutely insane. That was either at the very top and away corner of the plate...or off the plate...and at 97! Are you friggin kidding me! That's a pitch you foul off and hope for a better one...not one you hit out. Incredible piece of hitting there.
  11. One thing I don't think can be understated here is Kratz in the 9th. I'm not sure JJ gets it done without him. Multiple mound visits, but man I think those visits went a long way in helping JJ get out of that mess. I don't mean to take away from JJ, he executed and got the job done...but Kratz deserves a significant amount of credit for helping him through...in my opinion.
  12. I think he's in to finish this game, unless we score 2 or more in the top of the 9th. Then I think they let Guerra finish it.
  13. The hard part about using him for a few batters and relying on other in the 9th...what if the dodgers get a rally going? Who's your stopper? Knebel is gone and I'm not sure I want Jeffress in a key spot today. I feel like it's all or nothing with Hader...once he's in, he's finishing the game.
  14. I think at 4 runs, you go with Hader for 2. It would really be nice to put up a couple runs in the 8th and be able to try someone like Guerra instead...or at least go with Soria for 1 and then Hader for only 1. That's greedy I know, but nothing wrong with being a little greedy.
  15. Agreed. I would add that you have to start trusting some other guys too. They need work, they've been pretty solid, and it's better to use them in the right situation (when your best guys arguably would benefit from a little rest) than wait until you have no choice. Who though? Soria has been up and down. Burnes was great before his poor outing Saturday. Guerra has been superb, but they don't seem to want to use him in high leverage spots. Cedeno has been iffy. There is no way they throw Peralta out there unless it's a 5-6 run lead I think. Any of those guys are fine options against the bottom of the order. I would definitely want a RH pitcher. At this point it's moot because they went with knebel.
  16. 4-0 with 8 outs to go is not anywhere in the vicinity of safe. Nope, and in the NLCS I'm not sure I'd be completely comfortable leading less than double digits...and that likely will never happen in a CS.
  17. I'm curious as to why. They hit one ball hard on him but he just blew it by the rest of them. He'd be facing a really bad part of their lineup too. His pitch count was also very low. I mean maybe now that we got 2 more runs they go with Soria to preserve him. Only because he's not usually a multi-inning reliever, and not using him for another inning keeps him fresh for tomorrow. Gotta figure hader going 2 innings so Knebel is the guy if we get a lead late tomorrow. It has nothing to do with how he looked in action today.
  18. I would bet dollars to doughnuts Knebel is coming back out. I agree, I just don't think I'd do it. He doesn't pitch many multi-inning stints. It's different for a reliever. Hopefully it works out.
  19. I don't think I want Knebel going back out. I'd go Soria or Guerra...or Jeffress against the bottom of the order. Then Hader for the last 2.
