  1. Statcast projected the last one 457 feet. That's quite the shot at Wrigley.
  2. Someone in the dugout was like "are we really going to lose to THIS roster?" after the last half inning.
  3. Hang on a sec, I thought we were getting shut out? i don't understand...
  4. He allows one run and it's bad Freddy? Feel free to fact check me on this, but I don't think anyone that's pitched more than 20 innings this year has a 0 ERA.
  5. There's sure a lot of pessimism about our offense first time through the order against a bad pitching team. I really don't understand it. When is the last time we were shut out anyway?
  6. And then glowering about it... I kinda suspect the Cubs will throw at one of our guys in the next few innings. They certainly don't care about winning right now.
  7. Oh wow, no hissy fit this time. Contreras has grown up...?
  8. Peralta on pace to finish this one, assuming the Brewers can score before the 7th inning.
  9. After posting that, I also realized that Yelich is only a couple days removed from quarantine and probably shouldn't be playing 14 innings in a day yet. With a LH starter, it kinda makes sense.
  10. If you completely ignore prior success and contracts, it makes complete sense that Yelich isn't starting today. He hasn't been one of the best 2 corner outfield players on this team this year. That said, it still is very surprising to me that he's not starting.
  11. I loosely saw the video a couple hours after it happened(did not see the specific person yelling until it was pointed out the next day) and it kinda sounded bad. It's best not to underestimate the actions of a potentially very drunk fan with hate in his heart. But common sense told me at first viewing he probably wasn't saying what it sounded like. First off, Brinson probably steps out and gets the umps involved as it was right there and very loud...if not him then the Marlins manager does. Also, I'd like to think anyone within a few rows of that guy would easily identify who said it and get involved very very quickly if it was actually what was thought at the time. I expect the Rockies will change their mascot name very quickly. Not saying it's right or wrong, just what I'm expecting. The mascot name is just not worth another potential issues like this.
  12. At 40 i think it 100% would make sense. Even giving him 10-15 PH appearances in September along with his clubhouse presence would be worth it. But with only 2 extra guys coming up it's not smart. I 100% want 2 pitchers in September to help manage the workload for the big 3 which gives us a 13 position/15 pitcher split. Give me Ashby and Lindblom, both guys currently starting so can provide plenty of innings.
  13. It's really fun to be in a division race NOT with the Cubs or Cardinals for a change. The Cubs fans and Cardinals old timers(molina/waino) gross me out and I'm glad they aren't really involved here anymore. It's just generally a different feel not competing with our greatest enemies for a change.
  14. Freddy for 6 and Williams for 1 sounds way better than Freddy for 6, Williams for 1, Boxberger for 1, and yikes for 1.
  15. Lindblom might make more sense as a long relief guy in the next couple days than a spot starter.
  16. Has anyone seen any news on Brewers starter tuesday? Unless we go bullpen game, we will need fresh arm...and Ashby would start tomorrow on normal rest whether at AAA or mlb. So bringing him up certainly fits. Bullpen game, even against a non-contender...is probably just a giveup considering the current state of our bullpen, and even with a division lead we shouldn't just give away games.
  17. It’s the Cubs, they cancel on 70 and sunny some days. I fully expect to see baseball tomorrow… The Cubs aren't contending and don't have Joe Maddon continuously burning out the bullpen, a classic Cubs "fake" rainout isn't likely as they won't specifically benefit from it.
  18. The way their defense and hitting are playing out, I wouldn’ put any money on a bet like that. The more likely winning bet would be the Brewers losing several more players to SARS-CoV-2. Worth noting the giants are a playoff caliber team. You aren't gonna tally a dozen hits and 10 runs against playoff caliber teams too often. They looked fine this series with a few breaks going against them. Also it was very very apparent that our bullpen was not full strength for to covid. I highly suspect the away series plays out more favorably for the brewers. It's become clear the division certainly won't be handed to us. The reds are making a fair run at it
  19. Do we, or he, or anybody outside of Hiura/Brewers even know it was the Brewers that made this decision? Did maybe Keston decide he wanted to chase launch angle and the Brewers simply tried to help him on a path that Keston chose? His quote is pretty darn irresponsible considering he's clearly guessing and has absolutely no clue. I suppose if you keep guessing then once in a while you'll be right. Worth noting that Law was wrong on literally every single one of our big 3 pitchers. This is clearly a lost year for Hiura, but the talent is clearly still there. If Burnes path taught us anything, adjustments can change an elite talent from awful results to excellent results very quickly. There's no reason he can't be one of the best hitters in the lineup next year if he gets this figured out in the offseason.
  20. Up until 3 months ago, this trade had a very clear loser. But Lauer's last couple months give me a fair amount of hope that this might work out.
  21. I was looking at this earlier as well. Honestly any of those 5 and I'd add Rogers/Burnes as guys that have a legit shot at the CY Young this year. I would agree at this moment Buehler has the inside track but it's certainly close enough that 4-5 good/bad starts could swing this thing for almost any of 7 guys.
  22. This trade is starting to look less bad by the day. Lauer rocking a 3.5 ERA this season, notably pitching much better of late. Urias slashing 233/332/409 while also being better of late and playing multiple positions. Grisham slashing 253/339/443 this year while playing a solid CF. Davies was good for one year in SD and was a small part of the Darvish trade, but is now rocking close to a 5 ERA in his last year before FA. This initially looked like a pretty bad trade by the Brewers but is starting to look closer and closer to a push. And the Brewers can easily win this trade if lauer solidifies as a mid rotation starter with 4 more years of team control
  23. I generally agree with this, but also like the idea of being able to give rest to our horses as needed entering the playoffs. All of them are approaching uncharted territory from an IP perspective in a season. Their innings have generally been managed quite well in my opinion and they've been given a lot of extra rest...but each of these guys being able to skip a start in mid september would be kinda huge.
  24. Absolutely, yes. He's playing chess while teams like the Pirates perpetually play checkers. In addition to the moves noted, it's also noteworthy that two of his much-maligned 2019-20 offseason acquisitions, Garcia and Narvaez, have performed well as key contributors this year, showing that the weirdness of the 2020 season had more of and impact on the 2020 results than perhaps already assumed. I see your point and generally agree, but the Pirates aren't even playing checkers. They are playing "try to lose on purpose". Teams like the Yankees are playing checkers. Need 1b, trade for 1b. Need LH hitting, trade for LH hitting. Stearns finds value/flexibility and makes it work.
