Hayden Robinson This is the deepest, with the most amount of top-end talent, that I've ever seen for this organization. I'm thinking as far back as 2003 and can't remember a time when there were so many blue chip prospects and depth up and down the system.

  4. Gasser will be on the 60-day, so we won't need to count him. Ashby is under contract, so they'll definitely be keeping him around. I'm not counting Civale as a lock, unless he really impresses in the post season. At the same time I think the Brewers and Murphy have a lot of trust built up in especially Milner, but also Payamps and Wilson. As far as the Rule 5 guys, I think it's Henderson only. Maybe Shane Smith makes it, but the Brewers don't tend to protect fringe-y players. That Nashville rotation should be stellar: Mis, Henderson, Ashby, C-Rod, Smith.

  6. That's interesting considering the Sounds have three active catchers and one on the temp inactive list.

  8. I listened to a little bit of Turang's interview on Foul Territory (Aj Pierzynski, Todd Frazier, Erik Kratz podcats) and he spoke about being directed by his Dad this past offseason to hit more low line drives, rather than sell out for power. It's somewhat reminiscent of when Jean Segura got offseason help on his swing and turned into a substantially better hitter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GCxlLsTikw
  9. Thanks for posting this. Is that enough commentary? Regardless, the development from Turang has been terrific.
  10. Yeah, I'm going to trust the guy with 40 years of managing experience. 13-6 and we're parsing bullpen usage - with this group of starters, no less.
  11. Something can't be right about that. I mean, they said DK Metcalf ran 23 mph on his famous chase down tackle.
  12. I would assume that Miller gets the majority of reps at 1B for Nashville and he's likely the first IF callup if anything goes wrong with Hoskins/Bauers/Ortiz/Mona. That, or Wilken is going to Nashville... At the same time both Biloxi and Nashville have packed IF rosters. It could be Clarke's best opportunity for regular AB's to take all the catching reps he can and build up trade value.

  14. Jordan Westburg or Coby Mayo, for starters. And if we want to make a comparison, Ortiz's minor league numbers look a lot like Owen Miller's. There's nothing to suggest that Ortiz is going to go down that path, but the profile is similar. College middle infielder, taken in the 3rd/4th round. Positional flexibility, good but not terrific minor league production. To me, this looks like a low ceiling, high floor player, which is nice, but doesn't move the needle. And considering what Burnes is, it's not enough, IMO.
  15. Nothing guarantees Ortiz is better than Turang at second. Ortiz is an older prospect who wasn't all that impressive in the minors and obviously didn't show much during his cup of coffee at the ML level.
  16. So market value for Cease is Wiemer and Logan Henderson? Got it.

  18. @Brock Beauchamp Abner Uribe should be ineligible, correct? Edit: Could you please add Edgardo Ordonez, Satchell Norman and Wes Clarke?
  19. Watching this game...sheesh. That ump was all over the place. I mean, if it wasn't dead middle it was a toss up whether he'd decide to put up a strike or not. 14 walks between the two squads, I'm sure both managers lost some hair over this one.

  21. The top international player the Brewers have signed is Teddy Higuera, arguably the best pitcher in franchise history. And Brinson was a draftee of the Rangers. Regardless of that, Brinson was loved so much *by a professional baseball team* he headlined a trade for Yelich. Not exactly a bad outcome for Milwaukee. No one is saying the past 50 years have been stellar, but it's nonsense to dismiss players who, according to every major prospect evaluator, look pretty darn good. Something that happened 50 years ago is irrelevant. So is something that happened 10 years ago. The Brewers have a completely different philosphy, front office and development staff.
  22. Not to derail the conversation surrounding subjective rankings on a fan site, but looking at the top 30 internationals signings of 2019-2020, only one has made AA. Jasson Dominguez, who signed for 5.1 million, has an OPS of .743, career OPS of .781. So, logically speaking, every MLB team is "abysmal" when it comes to international signings. And when looking at the top-100 Pipeline prospects, no team has more international prospects on the list than the Brewers. So, maybe, they aren't so bad at this.
