  3. This is tremendous, and huge, if true. It’s not. Beltran’s family already came out and said she has no connection to the family. Because the Beltran's are suddenly a bastion of honesty? Even if it's not his niece, that person and many others have said similar things, including Trevor Bauer. That person also tweeted yesterday that Beltran was stepping down.
  4. Completely disagree. Trying to demonize Fiers at this point would be condoning this type of cheating behavior. Jessica Mendoza had a particularly tone deaf response and walked it back after their PR team probably told her how stupid she sounded.
  5. Much better list. Only gripe would be that Rasmussen and Supak aren't included in the top-3 RHP's. For RHP's I put them at: 1) Rasmussen, 2) Lazar, 3) Supak
  6. Fry's defensive breakdown is as follows: C: 66 games, 62 starts + 9 games, 9 starts in the AFL 1B: 28 games, 25 starts 2B: 1 game SS: 1 game 3B: 21 games, 20 starts LF: 3 games 2 starts CF: 1 game RF: 3 games, 2 starts As for Sunitch-Ashby-Small, here's why I went the way I did: Small had a very small sample - 21 IP. It was a dominant 21 IP, but for the sake of prospect discussion, Ashby and Sunitsch are more advanced, and I ranked them ahead on that basis. 2020 could see Small rocket past them. Ashby had a 3.50 ERA in 126 IP during 2019, with a 1.278 WHIP, 4.3 BB/9, 9.6 K/9, giving up 5 HR Sunitsch had a 4.09 ERA in 136.1 IP during 2019, with a 1.350 WHIP, 2.8 BB/9, 9.6 K/9, giving up 8 HR So, from what I see, Sunitsch eats a few more innings, and he walks fewer batters. It's not even close. This trend also holds up through 2018. Career K/BB ratio is 3.00 for Sunitsch, 2.61 for Ashby. Sunitsch's K/9 also went up big from 2018 to 2019, jumping from 6.5 to 9.6. So, the improvement by Sunitsch and the lower walk total are why I put him ahead of Ashby. It was close, though. It's kind of silly to dismiss Small's 2019 campaign as the best pitcher in college baseball, in the toughest conference. I get your fascination with advanced age soft-tossing lefties, but Small and Sunitsch aren't in the same universe, prospect-wise.
  7. Why did Hill's value increase 27% from November 30th to December 5th?
  8. Looks like Josh was offended JJ decided to sign with Roc Nation, as evidenced by the Nas lyrics in a recent tweet.
  9. There was one hard hit ball off of him, a single. That isn't awful or terrible.
  10. Hader threw fastballs out of the zone all year and got batters to swing. It's not now 'lucky' that the same batters were getting beat with those pitches. Hader was absolutely unlucky in the HBP call and the broken bat single by Zimmerman. He stayed away from Rendon on the 3-2 pitch, which was fine. Counsell wasn't going to lift Hader for Claudio or anyone else at that point against a lefty, so calling that bad management is just Monday morning quarterbacking. Just a bad play by Grisham and unlucky spots from Hader.
  11. Here's something you and others may find interesting. In 2019, of the 15 NL teams, the Pirates, Reds and Cardinals are 13th, 14th and 15th in number of starts made by a left handed pitcher, respectively. The Cardinals are by far the lowest with only two (!) starts. The Reds have had only seven starts. The Pirates and Brewers are actually tied with only 16 starts. Unsurprisingly, the NL Central has the fewest number of starts by a LHP (120), followed by the NL East (164) and then the West (285).
  12. You should update every thread with his daily stats.
  13. Yes, he went back to an interlocking golf grip that he used in high school.
  14. It's not unprecedented how well he's hitting against minor leaguers. Last year he hit .349/.428/.527 in AAA. The truth of the matter is the Brewers don't want to carry three catchers right now and they likely won't send Pina down because he's out of options and he's much better defensively. Freitas has thrown out 5 out of a possible 45 base stealers this year, while Pina has thrown out 6 of 17. Unless the Brewers punt on Pina - and the remaining control on his contract - Freitas is likely not coming up until September. He shouldn’t be brought up for his defense at C, but to hit LHP, and play 1B. And it should be August 31st at the latest or Stearns should be fired. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Attanasio knows enough to not let the promotion, or lack thereof, of a 30-year old journeyman catcher be the determinant in his general manager's tenure.

  17. Only reason I can think of that he’s not pitching for the brewers now is trade possibility. Absolutely has to be brought up August 1st if he’s still a brewer. Or that he's not on the 40-man, he's a year removed from TJ, this is the most success he's had at any level and there's 4-5 guys in front of him. And they just signed another reliever with ML experience to muddy the AAA bullpen. Every year there are guys that perform exceptionally well in the SAL, only to struggle in AAA. Olczak, Zack Brown, Miguel Sanchez, Nick Ramirez, most recently. Before it was Burnes, Burgos, Taylor Scott, Derby, Snow, Ortiz, Lopez, Jungmann. Before that, guys like Tyler Cravy, Tyler Wagner and Damien Magnifico come to mind. AA is for prospects, AAA is for pro's. Williams will likely need to show that he can get AAA batters out before taking the next step.
  18. You are the same guy that wanted to trade Hiura for Kluber this past off season. That is the perfect example why GM's don't make reactionary trades. Stearns knows what this team needs, but he is going to do it only if the value is right. Are you sure you don't have me confused with someone else?? I really don't remember saying that. If I did, then so be it. However, I would still consider trading Hiura IF I was getting an absolute stud Pitcher back with several years of control..I'd trade him for DeGrom for example. That was you. Called Stearns 'too scared to move PROSPECTS for a Cy young winner.' Hiura isn't going anywhere.
  19. Regarding Grisham, it looks like he's putting in a concerted effort to pull the ball more. Of Grisham's 16 home run's, 12 have been to right-center or right. In 2018, only one of his seven home run's went to center, right-center or right field. Fangraphs shows his pull percentage at 43.3% last year, versus 47.7% this year (in AA). Excluding Pina, Grisham would have the highest pull percentage on the Brewers roster at 47.7. The next closest would be Braun (43.1), followed by Arcia (42.5) and Shaw (41.1).

  21. This seemed too strange to be true and it is. Some names who have gone on to post worse road numbers after leaving Coors: Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla (x2), Jeff Cirillo, Jay Payton, The Jeromy Burnitz, Brad Hawpe, Jeff Baker, Seth Smith, Michael Cuddyer, Nick Hundley, Mark Reynolds, etc.
  22. If you want more teams to submit offers, then advocate for lowering the CBT to $150 million and create a salary floor of $80 million. I'm sure the players and their agents would love that. /s
  23. So the options if/when Braun goes down are Ben Gamel, Hernan Perez and Cory Spangenberg?
  24. Has to be in some sort of PR/coaching capacity, right? Disappointed to see him go, but if he can still collect a check playing baseball, good for him.
  25. Why do you assume the Cubs and Dodgers will get better? We're working in a vacuum where only good moves occur before December 5th, correct?
