  1. Some develop 2nd and 3rd and 4th pitches, some stay healthy and go onto long careers and some put on some good weight. Some turn out to be aces. I'd take my chances on 3 guys showing promise at this age for one year of a guy who is not going to make a difference on our ball club this year and hope that one or two guys will make it in a few years. I'm just saying that we'll find out in a couple years, no one knows and alot can happen. This is where our development team comes into play. We'll see how Stearns does it, because Melvin's development team certainly couldn't.
  2. If SD gets Bethancourt and another catcher is not involved, they would have Norris, Hedges, Pinto and Bethancourt on their 40 man roster including FOUR! rule 5 guys this year. I would think they'd want to trade one of their catchers for some other depth which we have in Segura. Segura ranked 9th in MLB in defense and the Padres mentioned on MLB radio this morning they are looking for a good defensive SS. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fielding/_/position/ss/league/nl/order/true Bethancourt is out of options too, Hedges still has one
  3. All three are under 20 and did very well regarding K/B ratios and WHIP, which is what you want out of every pitcher. They can pitch the strike zone already with very good control. They will improve as well, they are teenagers. I'm ok with it. Won't know how it turns out until this thread is revived in 3 years. Depth for the system.
  4. FWIW, Pina was the Tigers MiLB catcher of the year last year http://m.milb.com/l113/news/article/20151023154955754/
  5. Can only take 1 for the 25 man roster and 1 for the Minor League round
  6. Segura for Austin Hedges straight up? Hedges defense is top notch, his bat needs to come around, but he'll be going into his year 23. Padres GM was just on MLB radio saying he's shopping for a SS. Gives us an opportunity to shop Lucroy then.
  7. Some talk about the PTBNL for KRod coming from Detroit and the Rule 5 draft tomorrow.....according to Jim Callis and MLB Pipeline, Detroit doesn't have any 40 roster spots open for the draft at this point http://m.mlb.com/news/article/158824232/rule-5-draft-preview-from-jim-callis?topicid=151437456
  8. Bump - DFA'd
  9. I heard Wang was still eligible because he's not on the 40 man. Could be wrong though.
  10. Personally would like to see Herrera and Peterson left off the 40 and add Suter and Wang and allow for a rule 5 pickup Villar gives us what Herrera gives us and Flores gives us what Peterson gives us being much younger
  11. He certainly is not afraid of contact http://giphy.com/gifs/foxsports-mlb-baseball-2P9D8WIcNhraw
  12. Guess we really want to load up on middle infielders....
  13. +1 was looking at him as well. Did fine at AA this past year and looks to have a solid glove.
  14. Meh, young guy, looks like little upside, solid defense, doesn't strike out much, shed KRod's salary and opens up a 40 man roster spot.
  15. He'd cost too much of the farm system. By the time we are competitive again, we'd have wasted 3 of his prime years. Would have been nice to have when Prince left, but we are far from that position.
  16. White Sox eliminated per MLB Radio, between Twins and Crew.
  17. Its worth a shot for the Brewers if you ask me. He's not the future, but he could be someone that you could flip for prospects without breaking the bank if he performs well.
  18. When you have a deep farm system and solid talent at the majority of MLB positions.
  19. Looks nice and I wouldn't worry about the strikeouts if he can hit over 50 HR's and hit over .300, but do you want to invest in a 29 year old where he'd be 30 by the time he got to you? Not sure that this is the direction we are going. Maybe 2 years ago after Prince was gone when we were a few pieces away, but we are many pieces away from competing now.
  20. I think the 1B job can be filled internally with the amount of OF's we have coming through the system. A question I have is, does anyone know where information is regarding Rule 5 eligible players for this year? I know most teams have roster decisions to make before the winter meetings to solidify this. If the Brewers make the moves they should this offseason, does that open up a number of 40 and 25 man roster spots and also open up the opportunity to take a flier on a Rule 5 3B from another team? Not sure if its been discussed already, but maybe something the team might be interested in.
  21. Rosenthal is saying that Davies isn't enough...Chance Sisco? Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal 41s41 seconds ago Regarding #Orioles, Parra: Doubtful that offer of Davies would be enough. #Brewers setting high price on Parra; top 10 in NL in BA, SLG.
  22. Looks like just Santana http://houston.astros.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=hou
  23. Parra still in lineup, but this posted on twitter, he nailed the Astros trade MLB Daily Dish ‏@mlbdailydish 57s58 seconds ago Congrats to our @LookoutLanding for being first to break the return going to the Brewers in the Gomez deal.
