Yikes, this article puts top prep arms in perspective... http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/ask-ba-prep-arms-risky/#FdtEBTPAjuKzei92.97 Around 10 really impact HS arms since 2000 taken in the top 20 picks. I think a big part of it is developing which the Crew has not been good at, but we'll see if Stearns can turn that around and if he will take one of the top prep arms if available. 7 of 15 HS pitchers since 2010 taken in the top 20 have had TJ surgery so health is a major issue as well....

Sparky Fifer tweeted that he heard something on talk of JJ to the Nats to help their pen. Perhaps a Braun/Jeffress deal?
  3. billymac
They need bullpen help too...although I don't think there is a way they would trade him, Braun and any one of our current healthy relievers for Urias and lower level pitching prospect.
  4. billymac
He'll be traded before Maverick is called up so Mav can wear #8

I'd love to get Brent Honeywell Lucroy for Honeywell and 2 lower level arms For Boston Lucroy and Brewers reliever for Devers and Espinoza Need one top of the rotation arm back
  6. billymac
I'd be all for Lucroy to Boston I'd rather have Anderson Espinoza(18 years old) instead of Brian Johnson(25 years old in AAA) Lucroy Jeffress or Blazek or Thornburg for Swihart(Former #18 overall prospect) Devers(#13) Espinoza(#37) Lotto Ticket That would be a really good haul

Not so sure Thames could pass a drug test in the MLB...

Tigers James McCann is out with an ankle injury....they have Salty no others on their 40 man.... If its serious, anyone see Tigers making a push for Lucroy? Do they have enough to offer? They have a team that can contend now.
  9. billymac
Here's hoping for a healthy and productive next 3 months for Luc.....
  10. billymac
If he comes with a lower level prospect, I'd take him

One of the recent articles on the Astros trade discussions had someone comment that Joe Musgrove was the centerpiece of the Feb talks that fell apart, not sure what to make of it, big guy with really good command, saying he could be a top of the rotation guy, no other pieces were mentioned

Which won't happen when he gets another concussion, hence the urgency to get something for him. See Mike Matheny and Corey Koskie.

Was really hoping Luc and Smith would have been moved for a good base of prospects before the season starts. Have to think that if nothing is done this week that there won't be any major moves until the deadline and hope and pray that everyone performs good and stays healthy...... I personally am hoping that if Stearns does have a solid offer in hand that is lower than his asking price that he moves Luc. I don't want to see Luc get another concussion or serious injury and we get nothing for him.

Thoughts on if Jordan Sheffield would be considered at 1.5? Guy knows how to pitch and has been lights out this year.

Throwing off the mound and in the intrasquad game a few days ago, struck out Wieters and Davis... http://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/baseball/news/orioles-dylan-bundy-good-intrasquad-appearance/

Haudricourt just tweeted that we took cash

Think they would be interested in a Chase Anderson/others type return in a trade for Bundy? MLB radio said the Orioles were looking for more depth in pitching. Their rotation does not look the greatest.
  18. billymac
Never said we should have picked these guys instead as an armchair quarterback. Simply pointed out that 3 guys being discussed as possible headliners for Lucroy trade could have possibly been ours already as they were picks right after ours.
  19. billymac
I'd like to see Bundy, we have the opportunity to bring him along slowly and he could be that top of the rotation arm when we are competing again, not sure what the cost would be. If they want a Michael Reed or Tyrone Taylor or even Clint Coulter, I'd do it
  20. billymac
I know woulda coulda shoulda, but looking back at picks right before Rangers picks in 2012 and 2014 and Astros in 2014, could have had Joey Gallo drafted instead of Mitch Haniger in 2012, Lewis Brinson instead of Victor Roache in 2012 and AJ Reed instead of Gatewood in 2014 How exciting would that be right now
  21. billymac
I think Will Smith and Lucroy could get both Brinson and Tate and lower level prospect/s. I am hoping Stearns is holding out on that.
  22. billymac
I can not wait to see the return that Stearns is asking for with Lucroy if he's gotten some of these prospects already
  23. billymac
A Twins blog writer @thrylos98 just posted this "Sounds like the #MNTwins and the #Brewers are getting closer on a Will Smith trade..." Who knows how credible it is though

Sorry for being so stupid guys and wasting everyone's time. I'll take my posts to a different forum where they aren't as smart as everyone here.

Andrew Friedman struck out big in the FA market this offseason so far and the fan base is all over him for it. When asked yesterday if he's ok with trading some of his younger arms, he said he was. He can make a big splash by getting 2 good bats and a defensive SS. Their system is loaded. Dodgers get: Braun Lucroy Segura (if we have to throw in an arm, I'd be fine with it) Brewers get: Corey Seager(3B of future) Julio Urias(Possible Future Ace) Jose DeLeon or Frankie Montas(Possible Future Aces) Austin Barnes(Catcher of future) Andre Eithier Brewers shed Braun's Salary and 3 guys that are not in our future plans for 4 possible future studs Opens up an OF spot for Santana Braun goes home to California and to a winning team Either can platoon for 2 years, he's signed through 2017 Dodgers can use Segura as SS in place of Seager
