  1. It might take 14 more to get there.
  2. A mere 6 XBH in a 7 run inning. 2 HR, a 3B, and 3 2B with two singles thrown in for good measure. Max Fried has 4 perfect innings in his return from the IL.
  3. Didn’t get the split I was hoping for in the Cubs-Reds series. Maybe the Braves can cool off the Cubs for a couple of days.
  4. That was a needed easy win, both for the bullpen and the fans.
  5. Get ‘em while you can. New day and different pitchers is a whole new ball game.
  6. How about some add,on runs here. Save the back end of the bullpen. ETA- I forgot that I had paused the game for about two minutes while I went for a snack so I was behind the Turang HR.
  7. That misplayed fly ball was the key to the inning. Without it there might not have been any runs.
  8. I was just going to post.that Davis looked like a catcher playing right field, but the announcer beat me to it.
  9. No phony strike zone box on the telecast tonight. How are we going to know when to call for robots?
  10. Yep. Game times for these telecasts are not set for the convenience of ticket buying fans wanting to attend in person. Being home watching on TV I don’t mind the early start. But I’ll bet the stands are going to be pretty empty.
  11. He’s 100% a Badger guy who IMHO has an annoying sing song approach to talking. And he could never seem to be able to go too long without bringing up something relating to the Badgers. If you’re a Badger fan (which I’m not) you probably like him on Brewers telecasts. If you aren’t you’d probably be inclined to turn the sound down or not.
  12. Don’t forget that the Cubs are now just 2.5 games back of the Brewers. So, while the Brewers have stayed just a half game behind by beating up on the Reds, the Cubs have gone on a tear to move from 8.5 games out of first place just two weeks ago to 3 games out now. This is now undeniably a 3 team race, and just jogging in place may not be good enough to get and stay ahead of both of the other teams. The way I look at it, anything less than 5 wins in these 7 home games against two last place teams will represent a step backward in the division race.
  13. Candelario is 6 for 7 in his first two games for the Cubs as they follow up their 20 run performance of last night by coming back from a 5-2 deficit to,lead the Reds 8-5 in the 6th. It takes over a week for the Brewers to score 28 runs and it might take that long for Santana and Canha combined to get 6 hits.
  14. I made the comment during the game that a 7 inning start from the best starters occasionally would help reduce the load on the bullpen. After the response that 7 inning starts don’t happen that often any more, I found something from earlier this season that 12% of all starts were 7 innings or more. My guess would be that the “elite” starters would account for a high percentage of that 12%. Burnes has had 4 starts of 7+ innings, but Peralta has had none. His inefficiency is one of the things that keeps him from being elite. Maybe Woodruff can get built up and be defective enough to help with this down the road.
  15. The double whammy is that now they go to the Pirates series with the bullpen short tomorrow after heavy use the last two days.
  16. Anderson is generally good but we can’t forget the bad throw he made that contributed to a bad loss against the Cubs. No guarantee he doesn’t do the same thing today.
  17. Bad loss, bad series loss, terrible road trip.
  18. The danger of needing 5 relievers to all be perfect to pull out a 2-1 win.
  19. With Levering’s comment about Wiemer I had a Ted Lasso flash: ”He’s here, he’s there, he’s every f****** where…Joey Wiemer”.
  20. The Brewers could use some robot hitters who recognize the strike zone.
  21. I was thinking that REALLY good baserunnjng would have been to break to third when the SS let the throw go to first. With the throw coming from deep in the hole he likely could have made it to third before the first baseman could field the throw and send a return throw back to third. That would have earned extra credit.
  22. Not saying I expect it every time, but when almost every game is close and there are no off days in the near future it can be a big help to do,it once in a while. With Miley only going 4 today it’s going to take 4 or 5 relievers to get a win today. Even one more inning from Peralta last night would have helped a little.
  23. Still have to deal with the transition as Miley and Woodruff work their way back in. The bullpen is going to be busy, especially if Burnes and Peralta can’t go past the 6th inning.
