  1. We also didn’t realize that Contreras would be playing with an injury that would turn him into an average hitter. And while Yelich was a question mark because of his back surgery, there was at least reason to hope he could be something close to what he was when he was able to play last year. Unfortunately he is a pretty big hole in the middle of the order.
  2. The lineup the Brewers have out there today would lose 100 games.
  3. Oh yeah, he was warmed up ready to go and then they sat him down when they added some runs. That gave me flashbacks to the game in Arizona It was still scary when the first batter he faced hit the ball to the track.
  4. Megill 3 days in a row is a little scary.
  5. I hate it when announcers say that a pitcher “just made one mistake“. They just got done talking about how Patrick was leaving some pitches up in the strike zone but was getting away with it 10 seconds later, he leaves a pitch up and gives up a home run, and suddenly that’s the only mistake he’s made all night.
  6. Levering: “The Astros are lucky that bill hit Meyers. If he had missed it Hoskins would still be running” He’s right. Hoskins would be approaching third by now.
  7. Peralta deserves a medal for his effort today. Too bad the offense is so pitiful that it’s probably for naught.
  8. More accurately everybody is very consistently not hitting right now.
  9. I’m expecting a big game from Chourio today. Because of injuries to other players I haven’t been able to bench him on my fantasy team. Now one of those injured players finally went on the IL so I have a replacement. Last weekend when I benched him he had the big series against the Cardinals. Looking for more of the same today. The Brewers need it to have a chance to stay with the Cubs.
  10. I don’t see why it’s embarrassing. They have a market several times bigger than the Brewers and their fans have an opportunity to see their team in a much more convenient and comfortable setting than going to Wrigley. As far as I’m concerned anybody who isn’t at the game has no right to complain about people who aren’t willing to spend their time and money to sit in an environment that isn’t any fun. If there’s anything that’s embarrassing, it’s that 2025 will be the first time since 2017 that the Cubs, despite their huge financial advantage, will finish ahead of the Brewers in a full regular season.
  11. Boy, am I glad we traded in our tickets for tonight‘s game.
  12. At least it took them until the fourth thinning to put this one away.
  13. Durbin cannot be a regular 3B. Between bobbling the ball and his noodle arm he’s tuned two routine plays into bang bang plays at first.
  14. This team isn’t going to win many games with Chourio, Contreras, and Yelich all doing nothing. They all look completely lost at the plate.
  15. I get the joke, but I know exactly where Counsell’s house in Whitefish Bay is, and while it’s a nice house in a nice neighborhood it is hardly a mansion.
  16. MerciFully, my Apple TV feed went out. Maybe the censors wouldn’t allow showing a live lynching.
  17. Hearing the Cubs fans roar on that lead off single reminds me how glad I am that we exchanged our tickets for tomorrow night for a game in July.
  18. I’ll be relieved if and when the Brewers win a game in this series. i’m afraid the Brewers pitchers won’t be able to contain the Cubs high-powered offense well enough to give the offense a chance.
  19. Maybe send Yoho to Louisville and hope that the Reds bring him up to face the Brewers.
  20. This weekend could be brutal. I’m concerned about what the Cubs offense, which has racked up a ton of runs while playing the toughest schedule in Mlb might do to the Brewers staff. And the Brewers sure aren’t equipped to compete in a slugfest , especially with hitters like Yelich, Chourio, and Contreras all struggling. Gifts in the form of walks and shoddy defense have masked how bad the Brewers hitters have been in this series.
  21. The Sox agree. Sets them up for a rare win.
  22. So much for the Brewers being great in the late innings in this series.
  23. If the Brewers’ goal is to get home early tonight, they’re doing a good job.
  24. Another thing that Levering does frequently that bugs me is when he harps on a Brewer being “robbed” of a hit by an opposing player. I don’t consider it a “robbery“ when a fielder makes a play that a major leaguer should make. And to me that catch by Robert in the first inning falls in that category. Even if the ball might have cleared the wall if nobody had been there, I think the vast majority of competent major league centerfielders would have caught it.
