  1. How about the last time the Brewers won a playoff series when they didn’t have home field advantage? That would be never.
  2. There have been a number of posts on this board that have started with “If the Brewers ONLY play .500 the rest of the way…” and went on to describe how commanding their position is. Some suggested that playing .500 was a “floor” for the Brewers performance. Now that the Brewers have gone 11-14 since the end of the 14 game winning streak, and the offense has struggled to score runs in most games, those posts should probably start “If ONLY the Brewers COULD play .500 the rest of the way….”. The way they have played the last 3 1/2 weeks 7-8 is no guarantee.
  3. All of the teams in the playoffs are going to be tough to beat with their $300 million dollar payroll players bearing down. The main reason I would want the Brewers to avoid the Cubs is to avoid having half of the crowd in the home games cheering for the opponent.
  4. You really need an objective rule for balls going out of play like that with no kind of interference. There are some situations where the runner obviously would score, some where he obviously wouldn’t, and every point in between. You have to minimize situations where there is a judgment call on where a runner would have ended up.
  5. Can anybody name 2 guys in tonight’s starting lineup who have been hitting well since the first inning last Wednesday.?
  6. 27 PA with the bases loaded and has a walk, 3 singles, a double and a HR.with 16 RBI. So, a BA of ..192. If he had hit 1.000 he might have driven in 40 or so more runs. Presumably some of those runners he left on base were driven in by a subsequent hitter. So, no, it isn’t remotely close to possible.
  7. That’s like when they used to say in the days before advanced stats that Ozzie Smith saved his team 150-200 runs with his great defense. That made sense if, and only if, the alternative was no SS at all. You’d have a lot of routine grounders bounding into left field
  8. First string lineup tonight Would be nice to see 5 or more runs tonight. Except for Sunday the offense hasn’t been clicking for the last several days. Several players have been scuffling.
  9. Let Siegler play 3B for an inning before he gets optioned tomorrow to make room for Hoskins.
  10. How can BA keep talking about Quintana just making a couple,of bad pitches when he walked a couple,of guys to set up a grand slam.
  11. Woodruff’s first start was July 6, not June 6. Not sure if that was just a typo of if you included one month too many in your numbers.
  12. Nats with two home runs have four in the top of the ninth with none out to go ahead 5 to 3
  13. Always easier to pitch with a big lead and less, pressure. My guess is that with an off day Thursday and the following Monday they might skip his next turn or push him to next Tuesday.
  14. Several Sunday lineup possibilities for today: 1. Siegler at 3B for Durbin (likely). 2. Monasterio at SS for Ortiz (very possible) 3. Jansen at C (Likely) 4. Chourio with a day off as part of the revolving OF plan. (possible). 5. Contreras with a full day off, no DH (Just kidding) 6. Bauers at 1B for Vaughn and open up DH for Contreras (probable). Yelich will not be in the starting lineup today per Murphy's comment last night.
  15. The way I remember that, when it came to the end of the season Cooper was offered the opportunity to play in one of the final home games but he declined.
  16. The Giants led the Cardinals 2-0 in the 9th but lost, blowing a chance to move closer to the Mets.
  17. Yamamoto had a no hitter and a 3-0 lead with 2 outs in the ninth. Holliday broke up the no hitter with an HR and Yamamoto left the game. The Orioles added 3 more to win 4-3.
  18. This is being played like a getaway day game. “Let’s get our ABs out of the way as quickly as possible so we can get out of here and move on.”
  19. So, what you meant to say is that there is a poster who said the Cubs are going to “blow right by” the Brewers and there is at least one different poster who said the Brewers suck. I really can’t remember anyone flatly saying for quite some time that the Brewers suck.
