  1. Perfect example of why I hate it when they don’t put in the closer who’s ready just because of it not being a save situation
  2. You almost have to consider it a win when someone at the bottom of the order, hits into a double play with the bases loaded and nobody out.
  3. When the guys you’re expecting to hit are slumping you really can’t have too many other black holes. But the Brewers are getting nothing from 1B, SS, and 3B and, unlike Yelich and Contreras, there’s no reason to think that’s going to change significantly with the current personnel
  4. I sometimes like to watch the games with the sound off if only so that I don’t have to listen to levering saying “sweeeeng and a miss”. But, when I do that, I miss gems like what he said after Yelich’s walk:“the stage is set for the heart of the order”. Maybe the stage was set for Contreras, but the “heart”of the Brewers order is at the top. They’re getting next to nothing out of 6-9, and with Frelick not playing the 5 spot is a hole too
  5. All it took was for Dillard to talk about how Peralta was filling the strike zone for him to start missing it
  6. A questionable bunt, a passed ball, and a bonehead play fielding a bunt going foul to let a run score..
  7. There’s a bunt that’s basically a waste of an out.
  8. True or False? The Brewers will not have a positive run differential at any time this season.
  9. True, but you’ll have to bear with me if I am skeptical that this offense can score 5 runs or that just 5 would be enough. I’ll be watching basketball.
  10. And just like that they are going back under.
  11. Going to the game tonight. Hoping to see some offense from the home team.
  12. I said it wasn’t likely, and it wasn’t. But, sometimes unlikely things happen. Like a team losing 3 straight 1-0 games for the first time in 65 years. The Brewers offense is really scuffling (one earned run in the last 2 games).
  13. Good grief only 27 pitches. At this rate he could pitch a complete game today and come back and start again tomorrow.
  14. Need to see more hitters start to produce. They got away with minimal offense yesterday but it will likely take significantly more than 1 run today.
  15. Nice. That would have been a tough one to lose going into a weekend series with 4 bullpen games and heavy usage of the top relievers the last two days.
  16. I doubt that that would help. It just gives him a day to stew on the bench about his slump. He just has to fight through it.
  17. My feeling about the contact play is that you do it with runners on second and third and none out. if the lead runner is thrown out at the plate you should have runners on first and third so you haven’t affected your chances of getting one run.
  18. Regardless of how good he is, he still has to wait for the ball to come down If Mitchell had been running on contact, I think he would’ve had a decent chance to beat even a perfect throw. And if he’s thrown out, the runner on second should be over at third and you still have a chance to get the run in.
  19. I think if they had had the contact play on Mitchell, would have scored because of the high hop.
  20. I would be happy to put up (or admit that I am wrong) if I could see in the crystal ball how the players who are currently injured and/or on the downside of their careers are going to perform this year, But, evaluating the current value of a pitcher based on having been on the All Star team once in their careers (or twice in Woodruff's case) doesn't make sense to me when those appearances took place a few years ago (9 years ago in Quintana's case) and have been followed by subpar seasons or significant injuries. I have a pretty good idea what to expect from Peralta based on his last two seasons. IMHO the other 5 you named come with big question marks. I wouldn't expect any of them to make an All Star team this year. An article in the Athletic last week ranked the MLB rotations as of Opening Day, and they ranked the Brewers 22nd, behind the Pirates (11), Reds (18), and Cubs (21). Only the Cardinals were lower at 25. It seems like a lot of things would have to go well for the Brewers to have the best rotation in the division, most notably Woodruff returning to something resembling his ace form of 2022..
  21. Players who “have been” All Stars are often has beens. if that’s the best rotation in the NL Central (which I doubt) it’s simply a sad commentary on how weak the division is.
  22. First hard hit ball of the game for the Brewers.
  23. The very first game in 1970 was 12-0. I was there to witness that one. The fact that it was good to just have a team cushioned some of the blow.
  24. Getting booed off the field in the home, opener is never good.
