  1. You are looking at the worst outcome/concerns of our bottom 4-5 relievers and saying we have questions? By that method so would any team in baseball. I actually think that pitching may keep the Brewers from duplicating last year's success, but the pen isn't my concern. The way you are analyzing our pen is how I analyze our rotation. Chacin, Davies, Anderson all have some level of concern. I know we have depth, but getting positive performance from 5 spots could be an issue. I sort of expect to have to add an arm at the deadline. I was thinking a starter though... With the top end arms we have in the pen, I am ok with what we have there. You can "hide" bottom pen guys in game we are losing, etc.
  2. By my count only 4 more cuts need to be made correct? If they keep a non-roster guy like Tomlin then more obviously. Getting close to the opening day 25.
  3. I thought the Bucks being favored by 5.5 vs the 76ers was crazy in their first game without Brogdan.
  4. Hinch suspended one game... Hernandez of course nothing...
  5. Ouch. Thought his breakout year was as key to their success as anything not named The Freak.
  6. Yea, sure sounds like Burns will get a chance to start. I’m guessing Perralta goes to AAA till needed.
  7. I looked through the active roster today. It looks like the position players are pretty much set once they are down to 2 catchers. By my count there are 34 on the active roster so 9 need to go. Two of those will most likely be catchers, so your down to 7 cuts. I think it's safe to assume Wahl, Jeffress, and Nelson start the year on the DL, so that would leave 4 spots that need to be trimmed. If they decide Saladino and Spangenberg are redundant that one of them could go. Otherwise you need to send down 4 out of Perralta, Houser, Barnes, Petricka, and Albers. If a non-roster like Tomlin makes it then all of the above could go down or a Anderson type starter traded away...
  8. Just as a reminder of how crappy we were last year... has anyone signed any of our departing FA today?
  9. That is significantly higher that what Preston Smith was reported at. If Preston is the better of the two, that would seem to be an awful big pay difference. Either way, glad we are filling holes. Hopefully the Smith's can discuss their contract terms while standing over opposing QB.
  10. If you are keeping tabs on a Denver Broncos OL, you are a way more dedicated NFL fan than I am.
  11. From what was reported the Turner and Amos deals are really front loaded in year 1. If I remember right the Rodgers deal was absorbed a lot last year and this year. If we somehow manage to stay under the cap this year, we should actually be in pretty good shape moving forward with the cap.
  12. Even with dumping Perry, these 3 contracts have to be close to what we had to spend
  13. He’s more of a run stuffer isn’t he? Would have to sign him for less than what we save cutting Perry for that to make sense. Nope ... very underrated edge rusher and run defender. He's the better of the two Smiths. Huge, huge upside with him. He was on my wishlist, but I figured he'd be way out of their price range. He started every game last year and had 4 sacks. His grades in the article I read were good against run but like a 62 as a pass rusher. What am I missing? They just not use him as a true edge rusher?
  14. He’s more of a run stuffer isn’t he? Would have to sign him for less than what we save cutting Perry for that to make sense.
  15. If the Smith and Amos numbers are correct how much room is left in the cap? 5/20 seems too good to be true for Amos
  16. Yeah I don't think they could do it the way they are doing it now. However, there is enough down time to do something. At the worst, put in a bunch of extra speakers so we can hear the conversations. To me that has the potential to be more interesting than hearing the same cliches from Rock for each broadcast. I'd love to have 1st basemen or catchers with a mic during games to hear the conversations, although if they know they have a mic I'm sure it would alter what was said.
  17. He was mic'd up for a ESPN game last year during spring too. I remember a double being hit over his head during the inning right when he was talking to them. He gave a hilarious, "Wow, ain't gettin to this one boys", as he was sprinting back on it. Was great entertainment. I don't see any way that MLB would allow it during the regular season, at least not with a mic and ear piece on the player. He was literally answering questions from the booth guys during live play. Just being mic'd up maybe a possibility.
  18. Is it totally unreasonable to think that Kratz might accept a minor league assignment to start the year? Honest question. There's almost no chance of a team going all year without needing a 3rd catcher. He would be up at some point. I'm not sure what kind of salary dip he would get going to the minors as opposed to the vet minimum as a back up somewhere. I can't imagine it would be all that big of a pay cut honestly. He seems to like it here, and has even been linked to a possible coaching position within the organization once he retires. I could honestly see him being willing to go down until an injury occurs... might be wishfully thinking I guess, especially if the salary drop would be substantial.
  19. Bump - A mod could maybe pin this till the end of ST so it’s used. Anyone down there with pics to post? Always find this thread neat since I haven’t made it down there yet personally. Also, are they playing on a little league field today? 8 total runs and still in the first.
  20. Seems crazy that it applies to ST games. There are a lot of minor leaguers that mop up the end of these games.
  21. Without looking up numbers, guessing this would add 16-17 million to the payroll.
  22. I think he’s a good coach, but his time here had run it’s course. Won’t be surprised if he finds success elsewhere, it was just time for a fresh face imo. Hope the new coach is a younger, more innovative offensive mind. I like Pettine, and think the defense will improve going forward.
  23. Good to see balanced scoring, even if it was against a cupcake. Ben Brust was brutal to listen to as the color guy.
  24. Thankful for a great year, now won’t stomach watching a World Series game this year, and look forward to next spring SPRING HOPES ETERNAL!!!!!
  25. Jesús AB that inning looked almost disinterested, really hoping we can fight back, but they just look deflated.
