  1. I only made it to two Trats games last year, but came away from both games impressed with the way he played. His defense seemed vastly improved purely on the eye ball test from those two games. However, like others have stated, if his clock had essentially passed up his ETA we would have basically lost him anyways. We gave up quite a few prospects to land Gio and Schoop without much production in return, but that's the risks you take in a post season run type of year.
  2. To me 35 in an inning is far worse as far as taxing an arm. Multiple inning appearances at least give you the break between pitches.
  3. Was Burns HR prone in his minor league seasons, or is this a small sample size blip?
  4. We’re going to be into our pen just as early, but at least Anderson should be able to eat multiple innings.
  5. Don’t think that’s an automatic move. They would just bring in a righty to face Braun and then Braun plays 4 innings on his day off. I thought it was too early for that move. Maybe in the 8th or 9th.
  6. Lorenzen better do some more curls... Arcia hit .277 with 15 HR in 2017 over 500+ at bats. With his glove, that would be great. He has the ability, just has to put it together. I still think he has a bounce back year.
  7. There seems to be a flurry of extensions coming, and a few are as early in careers as I have ever seen, like before MLB early in some cases. Is there something that teams are fearing from the new CBA that there seems to be such a rush to extend everyone?
  8. I didn't start a new thread about this yesterday because a part of me refused to believe this wasn't a April Fools joke. Apparently the Nationals offer to Harper contained deferred payments all the way through the year 2072. When we get to the new collective bargaining agreement, is there a possibility that MLB could limit the amount of money/years can be deferred on contracts? Allowing contracts to be deferred out 50+ years could affect competitive balance in the present if some do and some don't. You would think players would not sign those types of deals, but you never know. Seems odd to not restrict at least the total number of years out you can go. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/bryce-harper-says-he-was-ready-to-go-back-to-nationals-reportedly-got-offer-that-wouldve-paid-him-in-2072/
  9. CBS has it up too, unless it’s a multiple network April fools https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/bryce-harper-says-he-was-ready-to-go-back-to-nationals-reportedly-got-offer-that-wouldve-paid-him-in-2072/amp/
  10. Story on yahoo that the Nationals offer to Harper contained deferred money through 2072.
  11. Wow, forgot all about that guy! Memories... No clue who this is. Checked you tube and see you could get 2 recliners and a 15 speed bike for $299, lol. Before my time apparently
  12. Arcia the first overall pick? Fourth. Chris Davis was the lucky #1 First year we’ve done it and been really fun so far. You get to know guys you’d normally not pay any attention to. I had a discussion with a co worker about balk rate the other day...
  13. 1st inning included four hits, one walk, and four earned runs against the recently extended Kyle Hendricks. Two errors in the inning. Looks like all of the runs were unearned according to the box score. Baez with one error. I have him in our Mendoza league at work.
  14. Perez under that hood at 2nd base and Moose bats. In game platoon.
  15. If your going to shift hard why don’t you pitch to it? No point to shift and then pound sinkers on the outside corner that are almost impossible to pull.
  16. Weird how their half-assed attempt to contend isn't leading to better attendance. If they were crappy I’d get it, but it’s opening week and they have made significant improvements in the off season.
  17. Just turned the game on, so Reds attendance is less than stellar...
  18. Come on man, I just spit mountain dew all over my keyboard. I was mid drink when I read the thread title. I never know what day it is.
  19. The getaway day lineup from last years opening series in SD: Thames Yelich Cain Shaw Santana Sogard Villar Bandy Suter Sure don’t miss Thames leading off. The depth of our 6-8 in the lineup this year is crazy.
