Man, love our pen right now but we don’t have a long guy out there like a Woodruff or Lopez to eat innings. Good thing they are rested! Edit: forgot about Burnes, he could eat 3 or so.
-
Four pitch walk to the pitcher, always a good sign. Come on Junior, find the control.
-
I’m with you, but if he’s right he’s better than that. He hit .277 last season. So far so good since he returned.
-
Newcomb threw 134 pitches. Haven’t seen a pitch count that high in a while. Manager gave him the ball and he tossed it away, lol, wanted nothing to do with a souvenir from an “almost”.
-
High fastball, just didn’t get it up enough.
-
Probably, but I’m not mad at you about this one.
-
Missed it because I’m watching the stupid no hitter That’s silly. He wasn’t even pitching when it happened. Had it on all afternoon, just lost track of time. 8 2/3 Chris Taylor breaks it up!

He doesn’t take time off, he does other games. Today he’s working the Dodgers/Braves game.
-
They were just talking on the Dodgers/Braves telecast about the Cubs having 4 lefty starters. We saw 3 straight lefties from the Dodgers in that series. Adding Moustakas makes us pretty left hand heavy. A lineup like tonight’s could be what we see during playoff series against either of those two teams.
-
Eight innings. At 117 pitches through 8. The strike out to end the 8 is as excited as I’ve heard BA all year.
-
The key phrase in your comment is “utility player”. I don’t dislike Pérez, but I get annoyed when he starts 5 times a week like he did before the break. The addition of Moustakas and a few guys getting healthy should now move Pérez back to his appropriate role. I actually defended him coming in as the defensive replacement for Thames in last nights game.
-
Would rather have Saladino start over Pérez, but oh well. Get the brooms out! Was eating lunch, flipped on the Dodgers Braves on TBS, and who do I hear? BA! I get letting him leave for the NBA playoffs, but having him leave to go do other baseball games seems dumb. Find a new full time guy.
-
I mean, 1 day off, sure, but the guy is still OPSing like .950. I would guess he gets a Sunday off day tomorrow.
-
You accurately used Hunter Pence and the word twitch in the same post, lol. Man is he annoying to watch.
-
This was Joyce the next night.
-
He's a defensive upgrade over Thames late in a blowout. Don't see the issue. He's a pretty good defensive OF.
-
Pretty sure it was Armando Galarraga. And it was a really good ump who blew it. All by memory so not sure. Tom Hallion maybe? Edit: I looked it up and it was Jim Joyce who is widely recognized as the best ump in the game. Didn't the ump publicly apologize, then Galarraga brought the lineup card out the next night or something like that? Was handled very classy if I remember right.

Kratz and Arcia combine for 4 hits!
-
Great start for Chacin! A pitcher going 7 has big trickle down effects on keeping the pen fresh.
-
Shaw!!!! Gold Glove the man, lol
-
Kratz has a hit, threw out 2 runners, and I haven't heard him scream at Chacin to get to first base yet tonight. Heck of a ballgame
-
It's a good thing then that that's all a bunch of superstitious hokum. FIRST BATTER!!!!!!
-
Hopefully you have DVR so you can see that Arcia actually did get two hits and a walk.

We shall see...
