  1. "All 4 double plays today were started by a different player! That's somethin you won't see every day." But they all were ended by the same player. And 4 DPs in a game is something you don't see every day.
  2. Wow to the 8th and 9th hitters.
  3. "We are single-handedly fueling the MVP race between Derrick Lee and Pujols." It's too bad one isn't in the AL, then they both could win, and so far they both deserve it. Plus, then they both wouldn't be in our division.
  4. "Uh, the throw did NOT go home." Fine, never mind. That wasn't my point.
  5. Doesn't Overbay get an RBI on the grounder to score Weeks, even though the throw went home? Just like a RBI groundout, as if the throw went to first? Edit: OK so the throw went to 1st. Weeks must not have broke for home until the throw got past Pujols.
  6. "No Walker or Edmonds" Walker rarely plays against lefties anymore, but I'm surprised that Edmonds gets another day off already. I thought Rolen would be off with his sore shoulder.
  7. Cardinals vs. Capuano, career (H-AB, OPS) David Eckstein 0-3, .000 Jim Edmonds 0-3, .000 Mark Grudzielanek 2-10, .633 Héctor Luna 2-5, 1.700 Jason Marquis 0-2, .000 Albert Pujols 2-6, 1.389 Scott Rolen 0-3, .500 So Taguchi 2-8, .708 Larry Walker 0-2, .333 Brewers vs. Marquis, career (H-AB, OPS) Russell Branyan 1-9, .626 Chris Capuano 1-2, 1.500 Brady Clark 6-16, 1.000 Bill Hall 0-3, .250 J.J. Hardy 1-5, .533 Wes Helms 2-10, .400 Geoff Jenkins 5-19, .826 Carlos Lee 1-8, .722 Chris Magruder 0-2, .333 Damian Miller 4-13, .769 Chad Moeller 2-6 .762 Lyle Overbay 3-11, 1.021
  8. Milwaukee (46-49) at St. Louis (61-33) The Brewers go for a split in the 4-game series finale, then head out to Cincinnati. Yahoo game preview milwaukeebrewers.com game preview From jsonline.com: ON DECK TEAMS: Brewers vs. Cardinals (61-33) WHEN: 1 p.m. today. WHERE: Busch Stadium, St. Louis. BROADCASTS: TV - none. Radio - WTMJ-620 (AM). PITCHING MATCHUPS: Milwaukee LHP Chris Capuano (10-6, 3.86) vs. St. Louis RHP Jason Marquis (9-6, 3.78). Capuano had won five consecutive starts before getting a no-decision in his last outing against Washington. Over that span, he is 5-0 with a 4.04 ERA. In his only previous start against St. Louis on April 28, Capuano was the winner, allowing two runs in 6 1/3 innings. Marquis has been strong in three starts this month, allowing six runs in 23 innings (2.35 ERA). He split two decisions against the Brewers earlier this season and is 3-4 with a 3.49 ERA in nine career appearances (seven starts) against them.
  9. Anybody want to answer why Clark didn't score on the Weeks single? Hit too hard?
  10. "Our baby girl was born Saturday night ... She was born during the all-star game..." Someone hasn't been getting enough sleep and lost track of days...
  11. Minor league all-stars: Chris Coste (IL) Jeff Leifer (IL) Mike Coolbaugh (PCL) Craig Breslow (Southern) Robinson Cancel (Texas)
  12. As mentioned elsewhere on this board, Wayne Franklin has been promoted from AAA by the Yankees. Also, Mike DeJean has been signed by Colorado.
  13. "I never remember how this works.....was that a save? Turnbow came in and the guy in the hole was the tying run." No I don't believe it's a save- if I remember correctly, the tying run needs to be on deck.
  14. DelaRosa has pitched once in the past 3 weeks.
  15. RISP meter: 0 for last 5 after starting 3 for 3. 3 for 8 total on the day. Trending back to the norm.
  16. "...but if Nelson (it's Nelson, right) wasn't waving him..." It should have been Donnelly.
  17. Maddux is 11-2, 1.96 ERA, 0.99 WHIP lifetime against the Brewers. However, most of our lineup has good career numbers against him (save for the #3 and #4 hitters): Brady Clark .450 BA/1.050 OPS Rickie Weeks .500/1.667 (only 3 PAs) Bill Hall .211/.461 Carlos Lee .154/.354 Lyle Overbay .467/1.311 Damian Miller .350/.909 Geoff Jenkins .364/.948 J.J. Hardy (no PAs)
  18. Tim Harikkala was waived by Oakland and is now a free agent. Scott Seabol was optioned back to AAA Memphis by St. Louis. Travis Smith was optioned back to AAA Albuquerque by Florida. Alex Sanchez was claimed off of waivers by San Francisco.
  19. The ball must be carrying well. On both Brewer homeruns, announcers seemed surprised it went out.
  20. Two former Brewers in the Mets' transactions: Mike DeJean has been released. Gerald Williams has been purchased from AAA.
  21. Jorge Sosa is pitching with Atlanta and made his first start of the season last night. He got the win to improve to 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA.
  22. I'm hoping the Brewers knock out Fossum early- then Fielder can come in and hit against their bullpen.

  24. Ryan Glynn is back in the big leagues with Oakland.
  25. I have a small and hopefully simple request. I don't want to pick on anyone, but the short mysterious thread titles annoy me just a little. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, time doesn't allow me to read every thread. I wish I didn't have to do it this way, but I sometimes pick and choose what I read from the title of the thread. Therefore, I'm wondering if people can be more conscious of being more specific. It doesn't really take too long to add some words to the titles, and it allows fairly long entries. I don't think I would be the only person that would benefit from this. Again, not to pick on anyone, but here's some examples from the Major League board: "OBM Link"- This was a link to a nice article and I'm glad I read it. But if I wasn't up late, I would have never clicked on it based on the title. It would be much better titled "Good article on Milton Bradley" or something much more specific. "Names"- This doesn't tell me anything. Maybe people would read and respond to the post if the title said something. "Carlos Lee" and "Gary Glover"- there are several things these could pertain to. Now based on current happenings I can assume these would be better titled "Carlos Lee is awesome" and "Gary Glover stinks" but it would be nice to know that before deciding if I have the time to read it. I hope this doesn't step on any toes and I hope I'm not crucified for admitting I don't read everything on the board.
