  1. What would you guys think if your highest paid player led the league in GIDP, batted .260 in the 3 hole with half as many HR's as the SS and was a butcher in the outfield? Just wondering.
  2. Really? They're Card fans, but unlikely they are from St. Louis. Martinez was lucky to get out of that jam. The Cards fans in front of us are calling all the Brewers some choice 4 letter words That's pretty damn brave of them acting like that in Miller Park. What are the chances that when your fans catch up on the beers that they put a stop to it? (I know visitors dare not act that way in Chicago or Philly!)
  3. Yeah. That's not fair but even casual baseball fans know the name Braun. Peralta, not so much.
  4. Really? They're Card fans, but unlikely they are from St. Louis. Martinez was lucky to get out of that jam.
  5. LOL. You know the Brewers better than I know Martinez, so you could be right. One thing though: Molina would have visited the mound 2 or 3 times there in the 1st. Cruz has not the cred. Even with a rookie pitcher.
  6. Nice heads up baseball there by Gennett. Martinez is fooling no one. But Matheny will leave him in 'till 5-7 runs score.
  7. Lineup mistakes: *Should not be facing a RHP. His futility with the inside fastball has been exposed. **Stopped hitting a week ago. Tavares the better option, but benched.
  8. I would say that your chances are better than 50/50. Martinez will be gotten to. He's talented, but not ready for prime time. And the Brewers can capitalize on Tony Cruz. The stolen base (or fear thereof) would rattle any infield complacent after years of Yadi. Run early and often.
  9. Agree on that one. With the possible exception of the A's, every team wants to win the last game before the ASB. I don't know or care which replacement arm goes for the Cards today, but it's safe to say that whomever it is, he will be scored on. Heavily.
  10. I'm not interested in this afternoon's game. I don't give a damn who wins.
  11. This is terrible. Puts baseball in it's proper prospective. Pretty unimportant.
  12. Come from behind wins may be the biggest mental boost an under achieving team can get, and when it's done under adverse conditions, like key injuries on the team it's more impactful. The Reds and Cards are enjoying that right now. For the moment the heat is off of GM's Jockety and Mozielik, but it will return at the first sign of a slump. The ASG break comes at a good time for teams in a funk, a bad time for teams on a roll. The Brewers and Pirates will rebound. It's just the way of baseball.
  13. The Cardinal announcers are convinced that Kelly drilled Gomez on purpose. Shannon: "If you're gonna swing that hard you get this!" Looks like the Cards are going to be run on quite a bit from now on.
  14. That one's a crusher. The man can really play some 2B. I estimate he robs hitters about 2 times a game. 3 if you're a Cardinal.
  15. I'll be right up! You got a spare couch?
  16. Two of my favorite baseball guys doing the game tonight on MLB. Unfortunately it will be blacked out here, and I suppose in Wisconsin as well. Costas is a St. Louis boy and Euk remains a favorite in this town. He makes jokes about how bad a player he was, but the year he played here he was indispensable as Mc Carver's RH hitting back-up. Not only did Bob have a hose, but he could hit Koufax. Tim must have really loved that! Helped keep his strikeout total down. My all time favorite shot of Bob Just look at the size of that hand.
  17. Probably the most historically significant baseball footnote is from a century ago on April 11th when Ruth played his 1st game.
  18. We could certainly use his bat coming off the bench. We have no bench. Like Lohse was, our best bench player is a pitcher.
  19. I love rivalries and I can't tell you how much I like the one existing between us and the Reds. The so-called Cubs rivalry thing has always been a mystery to me. I know it existed in the 40's, but since then if one was doing well, the other one wasn't. I doubt if they EVER finished 1-2 from the 50's on. There is a tad of malice toward the Brewers left over from the "untucking" thing a few years back, but when Fielder left so did the malice. Maybe a hot pennent race would re-ignite it? I love having a team to "hate" Did you guys see the skirmish yesterday between the Cubs and Reds? Man! Rizzo was livid. I love this stuff! Just goes to show that this young Cub team, despite their recent roster losses are still quite serious about winning.
  20. Good read from ESPN http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/story?id=1882471
  21. SoCal Brew, you don't really mean despise, do you?
  22. Bo was incredible. I once saw a little video of him hopping out of a swimming pool to the deck. He was knee deep. Try it.
