  1. You can see that Wainwright is not dominant. Been a while.
  2. What I wonder is where ARam will he be HBP next inning. Ribs? Matheny, though he denies it, orders lots of them. Just a coincidence that it's always a top hitter.
  3. Not really...some clouds moving through but no real threat. Will be in the 70's soon....a great night for baseball.
  4. Agreed. I hope they were aware that at least they were on the chopping block.
  5. Watch Waino closely. He's not been "lights out" since before the ASG. It's quite possible that his cortisone'd elbow is worse than he lets on. Good luck in the series Guys.
  6. The Cards announcers mentioned the issue. They said that if Lackey wants to stay around next year that the Cards would re-work his deal.
  7. Per MLB TV he is packing his bags for somewhere as I type. LA has dropped out. He COULD land with the Bucs.
  8. Feelings in St. Louis are mixed, but mostly positive on this deal. Boston thinks they were robbed. Personally, I'm glad to be rid of Craig so we can see just what Tavares can do playing every day. Kelly is another matter. I hate to see him go. Will this trade help the Cards to stay in the post season hunt? Big question mark.
  9. They are saying that Craig and Joe Kelly have been moved to SOMEWHERE....was it to Boston?
  10. I heard that Masterson was not good anymore. They must know something the fans don't. (or not)
  11. lol ... please no Something like that HAS happened before in a double header. This situation is fascinating: they WANT to move him now for max return, but their fans will be up in arms. If Price loses today it could be the tipping point, so to speak. Think of the ramifications.
  12. If Price gets knocked out early, he may even come in for you guys in relief!
  13. You know, Price could be in YOUR bullpen tomorro, or even when he's through today!
  14. Um...he is pitching right now I'm going by the posted lineup:CF D. Jennings ® DH Ben Zobrist (S) LF Matt Joyce (L) 3B Evan Longoria ® 1B James Loney (L) 2B Logan Forsythe ® SS Yunel Escobar ® C Jose Molina ® RF Kevin Kiermaier (L) I said I didn't believe their statement It's true that I assumed Kiermaier was a pitcher, forgetting about the DH, but they DID say last night that he would not start today so they could "adjust the rotation for the NEXT team they play" That was total BS
  15. I'm hearing that the Brewers have a bonafide shot at getting one of those arms. If you DO, it's a whole new ballgame. Edit: Price is not starting tonight. The Rays say they were not starting him either way blah, blah, blah. He's outa there!
  16. Good analisis. Very interesting breakdown. It's hard to decide what's optimum for the Brewers as the rest of your schedule is sort of a double edged sword. Play the most tough teams of all the contenders, but wins are worth twice as much as beating the Cubs, say. Of course losing those games means the reverse. The parity in the NL this year is something I've never seen. With the Reds dropping off there are still 7 teams that vacillate between 1st and last place with a span of only 3 to 4 games in between. The wild card in this deck of teams will be played out in the next 15 or so hours. Who will get Lester or one of the other good arms? The Pirates and Giants need that arm badly. The Cards are banking on Wacha returning and being the same pitcher. What if he isn't? It's going to be a nervous next 15 hours. After that, the playoff picture will be far clearer.
  17. They are now 1-9 in the last 10. I don't see any way in the world for them to come back now. Not in the NL Central. GABP is becoming a ghost town and it will get worse when the Bengals start the football season. It's a shame, but that's baseball. Barring future DL issues it certainly looks like the Brewers and Cards will go one-two with the Pirates battling for that 2nd wild card 'till the last days of the season. I'm convinced that the Giants will fall off. Picking up Peavy and Uggla was a sure sign of desperation.
  18. He's only caught 2 games so far, but he appears to be a professional catcher in handling the pitchers and blocking wild pitches. Not much of an arm. 4 for 8 at the plate so far, much better hitter than Cruz and a better band-aid for the position.
  19. 1962...Don Drysdale pushes his record to 19-4 as he completes a three-game Dodger sweep over the Giants. Frank Howard has a HR and 3 singles to drive home 5 runs. Willie Mays accounts for the only Giants run with a HR. http://d3k2oh6evki4b7.cloudfront.net/images-006/headshots/1/14c3c5f6_davis.jpg Nineteen wins still in July is an eye popping stat, and Dodger fans are looking forward to a rare 30 win season from the big righty. But gassed, Don goes 6-5 the rest of the way to finish 25-9 to win his only Cy Young. The next season Koufax stole his teamate's thunder with a 25-5 year and Big Don, from that point on would be the second Banana. A dangerous hitting pitcher, he twice hit 7 HR's in a season, and once batted .300 with a +500 slugging%. And talk about a horse! In one 5 year stretch he averaged over 300 innings pitched, not counting post-season work.
  20. I scanned an article today where Yaz stated that Ortiz is the 2nd best hitter in Bosox history. I have to wonder what HIS agenda is. http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-baseball/24639159/yaz-calls-ortiz-second-greatest-red-sox-hitter
  21. I did. Didn't see anything mentioned in recent posts.
  22. I agree with this, but there ARE wrinkles. The Cubs are a good example. They hung between 11 and 12.5 out since May, but have dipped to 15.5 since losing their Aces despite of the fact that the rest of the division has been quite unremarkable in that time period. So it's better to play them NOW than before. As to Tampa Bay: If Price is moved on Thursday he won't make his scheduled start on Wednesday. The Giants seem to be in panic mode. Peavy, who was acquired because of fear that Matt Cain is losing it continued to be awful in his start yesterday, and Dan Uggla is worse. Three errors in his 3 starts so far and of course, he can't hit a lick anymore. Now is the best time to play them. LA is no juggernaut. Everybody has Puig figured out and HanRam has become a human eggshell, in and out of the lineup. Kemp is rumored to be Boston bound BTW. At any rate, the Brewers are at least as good as the Dodgers.
  23. Sorry I can't supply any links for this issue, but I'm pretty sure it's true that the Brewer hat has been thrown into the Price ring. Speculation is that it's manuever to drive the price up for SF or St. L. or any other NL team bidding. I expect details before 4PM today.
  24. Shortest game thread I ever saw. Everybody at the game?
