  1. Craig thrown out at the plate on a BANG BANG play. Still no score.
  2. Becket and Wainwright still dealing in LA. Nothing doing in the 5th.
  3. FYI the alternate game is Reds/Giants. So tune in night owls.
  4. Looks like you guys have a good game going. Mine is boring. No score in LA. Look in when your game is over. On MLB TV
  5. I will gladly trade your Marshfield for two of our Mighty Bites fishing lure spots.
  6. Well, I think it was great, and a great song choice. Just cool as hell. (but the pup and the sausages were the best dancers!)
  7. There's your problem. Didn't he do the world a favor and retire last year? He was forced by Fox to "retire". Why else would he be doing the same job for the Cards at FAR less pay?
  8. Jeebus, I love this guy. http://media.punchingkitty.com/wordpress/2010/10/zombie_larussa.jpg
  9. According to his BRef page he didn't. You'll have to take it up with my source, Tim Mc Carver. What I'm going to tell you now is a pip.....Trevor Miller is hurt. Back spasms. Lance Lynn is the last man standing. Astounding Card stat: Before today's win they were 0-26 in games they were behind in after the 6th inning. (cosmic payback for the RISP thing, no doubt) They scored 20 runs in the 3 game Rockies series, leaving the fans to wonder: is it real, or is it Coors field?
  10. The new rookie starter that replaced Wacha went against the Rockies this afternoon. I never heard of the kid, one Marco Gonzales. He mowed them down on ground balls and K's through 3, but then they pounded him. They said he DH'ed on days he didn't pitch in the minors, and sure enough he doubled in his 1st ML AB. He looks to be a fairly serviceable #5 starter, but really it's too soon to tell.
  11. I'll channel my inner McEnroe... you cannot be serious You don't think a baseball writer could not do the job? And with no bias?
  12. It's like Serpico to the Captain: How can the police.... police themselves? So many flaws with the time honored umpiring system. First off, by and large they are old men with too much job security. Sometimes they are so old that they can't avoid the base runners. Secondly, it's a fraternity. Why is the replay umpire a real umpire? He doesn't need to know the rules of the game even. Just rule "safe" or "out", in the park or over the wall. Everybody knows that the replay ump will rule in favor of the field ump if there is ANY way possible. Thirdly, why does the replay ump have to know the ruling on the field? Just rule on what he see's. If it's too close to call just say so and THEN go with the field ruling. Just feed him close-ups of the play in a sequestered room. I've seen some awful rulings this week. An obvious HR ruled a dbl and a runner beat by the throw at home on a FORCE PLAY, ruled that the catcher didn't provide him room to come in. Good grief! The catcher was in possession of the ball. So in my mind the #1 flaw with replay is that UMPIRES are involved in it at all.
  13. Both guys were free agents actually, but I'm down for some good ole Tony bashing. http://dailyirabu.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/larussa-drunk.jpg That's right. But why did they want to leave St. Louis and join a team that has not done anything since 1958? Ted Turners money? Please don't get me started on La Russa. He's to easy to ostracize. He's the most flawed man in a position of power since Hitler.
  14. Depth is a good thing to have of course, but last year the Reds had all five starters all year stay off the DL I believe but there was something missing. Votto, Bruce, Choo, BP, Frazier and Ludwick should have put them over the top. The addition of Hamilton this year, in my mind makes them the most talented team in the Central, but they continue to be on and off. I'm at a loss to figure it out.
  15. It was certainly an option on their schedule, but the current story line of the Brewers and Nats cinched it. In my opinion, of course.
  16. I see what you guys mean. He's swinging from his very heels on every pitch! Some a foot outside.
  17. Thanks for the Brawn info guys. BTW, the Reds are knocking Samarg' all over the place in their game. Up to 60 pitches in the 3rd. Reds up 1-0 only but the Cub outfielders are camped on the track!
  18. This is my first look at Braun for quite a while. It looked to me in that AB that he's pressing...too anxious. Has that been the case?
  19. Watching baseball Tonight and naturally all the talk is Nats/Braves and Brewers/Cards, being as both the "upstarts" are on ESPN's Monday Nite Baseball. The Cards don't play 'till later out in Colorado so all St. Louis will be watching your game. I look for your lineup to make short work of Gio and keep the pressure on.
  20. I would say 'alleged' by Jack Clark, not 'verified'. Not that I don't think Pujols isn't juicing..... You didn't see Albert's lawyers filing a defamation suit did you? Payoff is the name of that game.
