  1. This team has been dreadful getting guys home from 2nd and/or 3rd with less than 2 outs all season long. It has been our Achilles' heel.
  2. I was at that game last night (sang the National Anthem with my old Sweet Adeline Chorus) and he looked good. Unfortunately fielding errors did the T-Rats in after he left the game.
  3. Aren't his numbers this year better than last? Fans didn't vote for him last year either. I suspect he might still get in this year if an OF already named can't play and Braun is named as a injury replacement.
  4. Me too. Man, we have more problems beating that team. Drives me crazy.
  5. Actually, Wilkerson is ready now. He's at AAA and doing well. And a team like Milwaukee is perfect for him. The Red Sox considered bringing Wilkerson up recently for a spot start (they chose Sean O'Sullivan instead). If you look at the Boston area writers, they basically expected Wilkerson to be in the big leagues some time later this year. But Boston is in a playoff race and isn't going to risk throwing a fringy rookie into the fray. Here's a quote from Dombrowski: “Even though we like some of his abilities, I don’t think we can count on him to step forward, being in a situation to have never pitched in the big leagues, and be a real strong consideration for us to be a key factor in the pennant race.” Wilkerson isn't anything great - most scouts qualify him as a back-of-the-rotation starter at best. But that's what was said about Davies a year ago. And there's nothing wrong with that. A guy who comes in and pitches 180 innings with a 4.00 ERA is a really valuable asset. You need a bucket of guys like this for depth. So many flame out, get hurt, etc. So stocking up on interesting arms - even an older guy like Wilkerson - isn't a bad thing. Right now he has to better than Garza...
  6. Why in the hell did Counsell leave this clown in so long? Stevie Wonder could have seen he sucked in this game. What a waste of a roster spot and a drain on our financial resources.
  7. What I find incredible is fans still treat Braun like he is this horrible monster who should be banned from baseball forever like Pete Rose. You would think he murdered somebody if you listen to the venom he must hear on the road all the time. Braun screwed up by talking too much and trying to place blame elsewhere but he wasn't the first nor will he be the last to try to beat the system.
  8. Home field advantage for the World Series shouldn't be determined by an All-Star game. The better team deserves it. The better solution to the tie at Miller Park going forward should have been to allow a player to return to the game later on should it go into extra innings. After all, it should be an exhibition game and nothing more.
  9. I just got done voting for Braun (and Evan Longoria) but I just got tired of voting!! There doesn't seem to be a limit so if somebody can sit all day long and vote repeatedly for hours he/she can really stuff the ballot box. I haven't done this in a while. Wasn't there a limit to 25 per e-mail account before?
  10. I'm just happy to not see Molina in the lineup!
  11. I kind of hope the NL loses because of bad Cub performances, the Cubs make the World Series, and lose in the 9th inning of Game 7 in a clutch situation in front of a roaring hostile crowd. That would be fantastic. I'd rather have it be in front of their hometown fans. Let it burn even more. I'm you guys here!
  12. If you play for a team with a huge fan base and your team is winning you're gonna get votes you usually wouldn't any other year. I wonder if the league should go back to only at the stadium voting. Today fans like me with multiple e-mail addresses can sit at home and stuff the ballot box for their team's players even tho there are more deserving candidates on other teams.
  13. He isn't universally loved, that's for sure and this is going to hurt him unless we Brewer fans vote like crazy the next few days.
  14. We are playing good teams now. When we play teams that are tanking we are very competitive, when we play good teams we lose. Yeah, but the Cards had lost 7 straight at home before the Brewers came to town. They're not that good, but they sure own the Brewers right now. They've always owned us. It is just sad how they beat us time and time again no matter how bad their team is. I can't stand those clowns.
  15. This indeed is our Achilles heel this season. We can get guys on base but have a devil of a time getting them home. And even tho we are more patient at the plate than in seasons past we are still striking out way too much.
  16. At least in MLB every team has at least one participant in their All Star game, even if that player is a backup and hardly sees the field. This isn't the case in other sports like the NFL, for example.
  17. I didn't see or hear the game from Tuesday. Did LA knock Zach around?
  18. I hear ya. Why do we always look like a bunch of amateurs when we play them? If they screw up they get away with it but if we mess up we get hammered. I am so damn sick and tired of losing to those creeps as much as we do!
  19. You can hear a few boos but those fans do not jeer him as lustily as others do.
  20. I was glad for Broxton that he hit that HR last night off Scherzer.
  21. I remember the first time I saw him in the dugout. BA and Rock were talking about this great new pitcher and I asked my husband why did they kept showing us the bat boy?
  22. Yes, they are playing better than I thought they would. When they lose it is because of little mistakes that other teams pounce on. Most of the time they are in the games and not getting blown out.
  23. From all accounts it isn't easy to hit homers in that park at night and we got 3 of 'em last night.
