  1. My money is on either Zarraga to the open 40-man spot, or something's going to happen in a trade. None of the guys in triple-a that aren't on the 40-man are dominating with the bat.. There's not really any pitchers that aren't on the 40-man that I would imagine them adding.. Cravy's fresh on the DL and he looked like the most viable pitcher that wasn't on the 40-man already...I'm intrigued by Zarraga yes, but I wouldn't mind seeing a block-buster trade soon.
  2. I'd like to see Zarraga on extended bigs roster later in the year. Seems to have most consistent eye + hand-eye, could be a useful pinch hitter, but it's always risky cutting a guys at-bats then expecting him stay hot after riding extended pine.
  3. Cravy looked to be favoring his side-torso/back area, kid's got heart to gut out the nerves of the debut though. Worked through a two walk first unscathed, then went on damage control, pun intended (injury+scoring threat), in the third: Salt Lake Bottom of the 3rd J. B. Shuck walks. Tommy Field singles on a line drive to right fielder Jeremy Hermida. B. Shuck to 3rd. Luis Jimenez singles on a ground ball to third baseman Pete Orr. B. Shuck scores. Tommy Field to 2nd. Brennan Boesch grounds into a double play, first baseman Hunter Morris to shortstop Hector Gomez to pitcher Tyler Cravy. Tommy Field to 3rd. Luis Jimenez out at 2nd. Roberto Lopez flies out to left fielder Caleb Gindl. Hopefully this is minor for him.
  4. Super Two Normally, players must have accrued at least three years of MLB service time before they can be eligible for salary arbitration — or in other words, until they can negotiate their salary and not have it automatically set by their club. But certain players with less than three years of service time can also become eligible for arbitration, if they meet the following criteria: ● If they have less than three years of service time, but more than two. ● If they rank within the top 22% of all 2-year players in terms of service time. So if a player finishes a season and is just shy of three years of service time (say, 2 years and 171 days) then MLB will award them Super Two status and they’ll be eligible for arbitration. Since these players are still under team control for another three seasons, that means Super Two players get four year of salary arbitration instead of the typical three. The Super Two cutoff used to stand at 17%, but got changed to 22% in the new CBA negotiations. This means that if a team (BREWERS) wants to keep a player (JIMMY) in the minors until after the Super Two cutoff, they will have to keep that player in the minors for even longer than before. Considering that the cutoff used to fall sometime in June — it varied from year to year, as the 17% cutoff isn’t tied to a specific date — it will likely end up being in July going forward. BOOO! PAY JIMMY! He's good ol' home grown grass fed farm boy. They'll pay Matt Garza out the wahoo but skimp Jimmy, LIFES NOT FAIR! lol
  5. I do think throwing every day or two as opposed to every five days was cause for Thornburgs injury. Now with Fiers it looks like they're trying to avoid that, and having him throw every five days, even though it's only been for an inning at a time. It's like they set the day Fiers is going in in advance, but then leave it up to the game as to when he'll come in. The 25 man, and rotation and bull-pen should see some changes soon. STL is 3.5 games back and seems like they're getting hotter. The time to take action is now or very very soon.
  6. I know, I'm talking about his initial rookie contract from when we drafted him, that got extended.
  7. I think the 'Burger is fine; it's just hard to not give the Zar more at-bats at this point. 'Burger was hitting well early, working a lot of walks, but his avg has fallen hard. The Zar on the other hand has hit for a better average than Superman Kris Bryant, but doesn't qualify for league leaders cause of the platoonage at Catcher.
  8. I don't know why we're even teasing the idea still, when most people have already discussed it and still some of you want to debate nonsense not related to the topic title. Nelson is signed till 2020, he got a contract re-worked when the crew knew he was ready. The only thing that matters at this point is Super 2 status. The numbers are a joke. Yea sure, small sample size for Nelson, whatever, there's no argument against his game right now, unless you're the one having to pay for him. So why blow tens of millions more when he's not going any where any way. Patience saves money, doesn't always help the team win which could bring money, but winnings not a guarantee. I say close the thread...Soon as Super 2 status is dealt with he's in the Bigs for good, watch.
  9. I think Nick Ramirez is definitely worth keeping an eye on. His power is there but he strikes out quite a bit and thus his average is barely acceptable at .250ish. 27 of 64 hits for extra bases, but 75 K's to 25 walks needs work. Just cause the guys on the Big league roster are doing it doesn't mean you should too Nick! lol
  10. I'd try removing Brooks Hall and Kevin Shackleford from the 40-man. I highly doubt any other team is going to try to snag either one of them and put them on their 40-man, and I really don't see either making anything close to a contribution at the major league level this year. Shack pitched his way to a demotion from AA to Brevard County this year... Do that and you have wiggle room for Mills, who albeit isn't great, but having a decent year. andddddddd Tyler Cravy. Kids putting up the best numbers by any brewers pitcher in AA Huntsville, and is shutting down a hitter-friendly league in a hitter-friendly park. He's ready to make a contribution at the ML level when he's called upon.
  11. Games back on! Can Haniger hit a 3rd?!
  12. Looking like a rain suspension in Huntsville, tarps on the field.
  13. I agree. 5 games is a joke. They're treating him like something special, like a future hall of famer that has seniority or something. I think he's an absolute punk, don't like anything about his demeanor, his face, just all of it annoys me. I've been trying to find the amount they fined him, and the A's pitcher, but can't get that info anywhere. I think it's a joke they fined the pitcher, he didn't even hit him did he? Is it illegal to brush a guy back now? And before I end my rant, how is he going to apologize so deeply and say he's going to accept his consequences, then appeal the consequences and publicly ask for a reduction. I know every one always appeals every suspension/fine, but they should increase it on this douche. I'm really looking forward to when the Orioles go to Oakland in July, this guy's gonna get ripped a new one by the Raider/Athletic faithful.
  14. Tyler Cravy leads the Southern League in Wins, ERA, and WHIP. You would think that's grounds for promotion, right?
  15. That's unfortunate the Stars got suspended like that, there was an absolute duel between starters Tyler Cravy 5IP 2 Hits 5K & Mobile starter Michael Lee 4IP 1 hit 1K against the two best teams in the league. They should start building minor league stadiums with rooftops.
  16. Reliever RHP Arcenio Leon bumped up to Nashville.
  17. Wonder how long they're going to keep Bryant in AA, it's pretty evident he's far ahead of the competition. They don't have to move him any time soon, and his glove could use a little more fine tuning but geez.. He's beyond a triple-crown in the Southern League, he's at like a deca-crown. Avg, Hits, Runs, RBI, HR, BB, OBP, Total bases, Slugging, OPS... I honestly think he could make an impact at the Major league level for the cubs right now.
  18. Am I allowed to post links too? 8 Huntsville stars announced to Southern League All-Star team.
  19. Decent month of May for Tyler Cravy and Drew Gagnon. Cravy with a 4-0 (Could've easily have been 6-0) 1.22 ERA 37.0 IP 25 hits 5 ER 6 BB 27 K with opponents batting .195 against and a .83 WHIP. And Gagnon with a 2-0 1.60 ERA 33.2 IP 26 hits 6ER 20BB 27K and opponent avg .224. Wonder who's going to Nashville first?
  20. Yea can we please shut this thread down. We've got to have at least one response from every person that cared to respond with their feelings on our wang. The discussion is over. You want rule V rules? Look it up, probably as much effort as asking here. Wang is a bitter pill. Swallow it and deal.
  21. 94 pitches... guy he was gonna face was 2-2 off him already.. Not a horrible time to pull the string. What a great Major league debut though.
  22. Nelson belongs in the Bigs. FOR-EV-ER!!!!!!!(sandlot squints voice lol). Please don't move him back to Triple-A.
  23. You mean Garzas career ERA of 3.89? Gee I sure hope so. Cause I don't know if 33 ER in 60.1 IP qualifies as effective..
  24. Cause we wasted a huge contract on Matt Garza......I guess this one can extend beyond 2014..
