  1. I still think we should have seen a Peralta for Seager, + significant cash deal earlier this off-season.
  2. Do you think Domingo Santana for ShaneBieber is possible? The Indians could use a corner outfielder and Bieber would allow them to keep Kluber-Carrasco-Bauer and Salazar while filling a need for them.
  3. Someone will claim Pat Light. Good arm, questionable control.
  4. I wouldn't mind a deal or Nelson for say Matt Szcuee of the Cubs. Not likely but would upgrade in CF.
  5. I wonder what his trade value would be this offseas N. I am surprised that he hasn't been moved yet.
  6. A few days ago MLB.com had an article of ten moves that they could see happening before the new year. I cant seem to find the link right now but one move was Hernan Perez to Boston for Blake Swihart and Henry Owens. As much as I like Perez, and he has significant value with his versatility, I think we may have seen a career year. I would do this trade every day. Swihart was once a top 50 prospect and could start at catcher over Pina or at one of the corner outfield spots. He is still just 24 and had as many walks as K's at AAA before an ankle injury. Owens is 24 and 6'6. Hes struggled in the bigs but had 137 K's in 135 AAA innings last year. He could be a good depth rotation piece with upside. These are the types of players which should be acquired during a rebuild.
  7. I was trying to follow the old rules while keeping it as simple as possible.
  8. In the past, if a player had no trade protection a team had to include him on their protected list. Of course, that could change, but that's how it has been done if the past, if I recall correctly. I would assume that the players union would make you honor that
  9. This is something that I like to do every year. I know that it is not realistic but it can be an interesting way to pass the time. What if the MLB was looking to expand? Each team, provided they stick by past years, could protect 15 players from their organization. Those 15 players can not be pending free agents, but can be arbitrational eligible. The 15 players do NOT need to be on the 40 man roster. Prospects within their 1st two proseasons are exempt and not eligible for protection or selection. Have fun.
  10. Hello, I like to do one of these every year as it can be a fun experiment and help pass some long winter days. What I am looking for is a list of 15 players that the Brewers would protect in the unlikely event of an expansion. Now I know that one would not happen for this offseason, however I think for the purpose of this experiment that it would be easiest to project such a draft as happening this offseason. There is some rules associated with such a draft. For example, players selected in the 2015 and 2014 June rookie draft do not need protecting. Free agents are not eligible for protection or selection, however, arbitration eligible players are eligible. Also, to make it easier, please list notable players who are not protected.. This will make it easier to conduct this exercise. Thank you and have fun.
  11. Catcher Matt Pagnozzi was outrighted off the 40 man as well
  12. Per MLBTraderumors.com, Alfredo Figaro was claimed off of waivers by the Texas Rangers
  13. It would be interesting to get a list of every team and then try to build a mock roster off of that, but I do not think that every team has a fanboard such as this one.
  14. I agree, I don't think you would see a lot of star players selected. I think it this day in age it would be more likely to see players who shine saber-metrically and have potential then high priced stars. However, I could see a team taking a risk on a high salary player if the player is still decently young and the contract isn't a huge albatross.
  15. I don't think a team would get a signing bonus back because players who have been drafted in 2012 or later are automatically protected so the soonest a first round could have been drafted is 2011, which would mean he would have played four seasons with the team. Not sure how an option clause would work. Also there is no medical exception for an expansion draft. Injured players can be picked.
  16. In previous years teams have only been allowed to protect the 15. Which is shocking when you consider the previous terribleness of expansion teams, that's probably more of a testament to teams trying to avoid salary commitments.
  17. Hello, This is a copy of something that has been making the rounds on sbnation and I found to be a fascinating topic. What players would be available in an MLB expansion draft? The rules are… Select the 15 players from your teams organization (not just 40 man roster) that you would protect. Players drafted or signed after 2012 are automatically protected, and pending free agents can not be protected. (Here is where most free agents to be are listed: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/league-info/potential-free-agents-for-2015/ ) After the initial 15 then please list an additional 6 that would be protected in case a player or two from your team is picked then those others could also become protected. Also, if possible please list notable players exposed and free agents to be…if possible. I think that this could be fascinating to see and really tough for the Brewers. For example on SBNation they had Nelson left unprotected. Thank you and have fun.
  18. I like the earlier idea of Everth Cabrera. I'd say that he is better then Cruz was and can play second as well as short. He is still young with good speed, but those factors may make the Padres reluctant to deal him. Maybe we would be looking at a Narveson for him type of deal? Alexi Cassilla hasnt hit yet this year and he cant be likely to stick for long in Minnesota, there pinch hitting for him every other night.
  19. Theres a huge difference between supporting 8 home games a season on weekends to supporting 81 on every day of the week. Theres little comparison between Buffalo supporting the Bills and supporting a MLB team. The television deals are different too.
  20. The autographs were free with 18 dollar admission tickets. I am ppretty happy with my haul. I couldnt help but share. :-)
  21. The Tigers are my hometown team but I root for the Brewers from the National League. I also belong to several sites of random teams. Im never disrespectful but just like talking baseball. I thought with this being the collectors board that they wouldnt be an issue. Galaragga wasnt there but they were selling his posters. Sorry for the confusion. Im hoping some day to get those signed. The Tigers also let season ticket fans in an hour before the event opens to the general public. The Tigers fanfest is outside for some dumb reason. Good luck all at the Brewers fanfest.
  22. Im wondering what Vladimir Guerrero will wind up settling for on the free agent market? He had a good 2010 DHing but alot of that was aided by the park he played in. Now hes one of the last DH types left on the market, and im not sure how many teams are still looking for help there. I think he has to go to a smaller park to come close to last year but could we see him sign for what Manny got? (2 mil)
  23. I got the following on balls... Rick Knapp (2) Justin Verlander (2) Jose Valverde (2) Rick Porcello (2) Phil Coke (2) Robbie Weinhardt (2) Danny Worth (2) Will Rhymes (2) I also got three Armando Galarraga "Almost Perfect" posters, a Brent Clevlen game used bat and a Tigers/Rays game used lineup card. Great day!
  24. and Pittsburgh will be signing Scott Olson if he passes a physical which is not a sure thing for him. These are the kind of moves Pittsburgh needs to make, their home grown arms (Duke, Snell, Gorzallaney) did not pan out except for Maholm and McCuthen (who was a Yankee guy first) so they need to look outside for some bargins. To add a veteran of Correia for two years and to kick the tires is not a bad deal.
  25. Good defense at first, great teammate and good power but with a horrible average. He is going to have a monster year in Wrigley power wise.
