  1. Granddaddy...I like this Green kid. Maybe Pena doesnt leave, and I will like him more. But there is a former Brewers pitching coach in Texas, I wouldnt be surprised if hes claimed.
  2. I have a gold parrelle season highlights card of Randy Johnson, its numbered up to 2008 but I have 0001...worth anything?
  3. They did sign him to a major league deal after selecting him around 21st in the draft. He was considered the best high school talent in the draft and fell to signabillity concerns so they used it as a perk. Its a major league deal. But Scarpetta may be an excellent prospect but it does kind of handicap a team in flexibillity. Im not saying that thats a huge problem but it could be when having to protect potential players from the rule five. (fixed code --1992)
  4. It can sorta of handicap a organization but usually the guys on the end of the 40 man roster dont have much hope of turning into anything. The Tigers added both Andrew Miller, and Rick Porcello as soon as they signed, the Yankees have Andrew Brackman and the Pirates Pedro Alvarez. The difference is that these guys mention are much better players and prospects, not 11th round draft choces.
  5. I think we would see Rogers, or Nelson DFA'd before Gwynn Jr.
  6. Is this 4 to 6 weeks of the regular season or of the spring season? If its of the spring its no huge deal. Let him rehab while Gamel, Counsell, McGeehee all get some extra reps in. If its of the season (which I dont think it is) why not give Gamel a taste?
  7. I wish there was more reports on this kind of thing. Theres alot of ways that such a thing could go right. For example, you have one high power hitter providing protection for another or you bat them something like 3rd and 5th. That way your 2nd (a high on base guy) and 4th get added protection. But if you bat them back to back, what if theres a man in scoring position but they both strikeout? And having two slow runners one after another could clog the bases and make it harder for them to score on a base hit. Strikeouts wouldnt result in a double play but they dont advance runners either. Also, thats not even going into the defensive aspect. In the AL you could hide one as a DH and maybe the other at first. In the NL maybe 1st and a corner outfield spot. The on base percentages would lead to more pitches thrown, and more base runners does lead to more runs. But does the high on base percentages outweigh the other problems it could cause?
  8. They have all signed, he was just listing who maybe we could trade for from another teams NRI's I believe.

  10. What if Adam Dunn and Pat Burrell were on the same team or atleast two players of a skill set close to theirs. Would their high strikeouts bogg down a offense or would they protect one another? Or maybe if this is the case, it would be smart to bat one higher in the order and one lower or sandwhich a lesser hitter between the two? Ive just had too many thoughts in my head and I figured there would be some good answers to this question.
  11. Mitre is suspended and hurt. Igawa carrys a huge price tag.

  13. Corey Hart to Detroit for Armando Gallarraga?
  14. So whose the worst fielder of this trio: Pat Burrell, Abreu, or Dunn?
  15. Then the Tigers wouldnt deal. It would likely take Gamel or Jeffress plus Lucroy or Cain and a Brendan Katin type.
  16. Tigers fan here... Verlanders ERA was increased by .50 due to the bullpen not keeping his runners from scoring. Thats not counting the times that Leyland would almost be forced to not pull Verlander due to a bad bullpen. The Tigers and Chuck Hernandez tried to change Verlander into more of a sinker baller. Im intrested in seeing what he will do with his new pitching coach. Verlander is still young and durable. I am among those who hopes hes not traded. What would it take? Probley either Jeffress or Gamel. Jeffress brings back the pitching we would be giving up and is a power pitcher like our GM likes. Gamel could start at third, with Cabrera at first longterm in Detroit. Hardy or Escobar might not work. Dombrowski has already deemed Cale Iorg as the 2010 starter at short. Alot of Tiger fans would love to see Fielder come to Detriot, due to who his dad is. While he could fit into our lineup as a DH if Sheff is released or traded, it doesnt make sense for the Tigers money wise. If your looking to deal Verlander due to his arbitration, why take back a similar but possibly more expensive situation? Id say Jeffress, plus another A or B prospect, and a filler player or two would be a good start. If not Jeffress then Gamel, but then the second player in the deal would need to be better.
  17. Man, I wish I was a member to read the report cards. I cant afford a suscribtion right now however. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif
  18. Looking over the market for free agent pitchers, there isnt much there after C.C, Sheets, and A.J Burnett, would there be any intrest in Twins starter Boof Bonser? High ERA, but good K/BB ratio. He would be alot cheaper then alot of guys out there either in terms of cash or in terms of players givin up. I think a change of scereny could help.
  19. Brad Fischer is a native of my home town and for being a coach from a small Michigan town is insipring to me. He preformed alot of jobs in Oakland. He was with the State College Spikes as a manager last year, and served as the Pirates roving C instructor. He will be a big help to the C. His mom lives behind my girlfriends house, and Brad had interviewd for a bullpen copach spot with the Rangers. He makes his home in Milwaukee during the offseason so this will be good for him. He has wanted to be closer to his mom for awhile now.
  20. You know, If the Bedard trade falls through Id offer Sheets for Bedard or to Seattle. Sheets and a prospect allows us an ace who can stay healthy.
  21. BTW, Vargas was a nat once. But the rumor out of Washington is that they want to turn it around quick for their new park so maybe Turnbow, & Vargas/Bush would work.
  22. Take out of it for a second how outragous Bowden is...if it wasnt for Bowden, would we do any of those?
  23. So you guys are against my idea of trading for Kearns...correct? Even if it was- Kearns for Turnbow, Vargas Kearns for Turnbow, Bush Kearns for Turnbow, Gwynn Jr.?
  24. Ive put some thought in to this and why doesnt someone trade for Mench and platoon him so he only hits against righties for the most part? Theres got to be some outfield out there like Mench who is as good as he is against righties but with lefties. Also, the team could for sure get some young bullpen help for Gywnn Jr. it would seem.
