  1. At this point I would prefer a platoon of Perez and Villar over adding a AAAA player like Middlebrooks.
  2. At this point I would prefer a platoon of Perez and Villar over adding a AAAA player like Middlebrooks.
  3. It wasn't when Brandon Knight was here. True but championship caliber teams do not play hero ball. Just ask Houston how well this works with a much better player in Harden.
  4. Both of those packages are intriguing. Although I still feel the White Sox are in win now mode and would be willing to part with Fulmer, Michalczewski and Alfaro for Lucroy. The top two prospects are pretty well known but my feeling is Alfaro could be a diamond in the rough. He is currently ranked 18th in the White Sox system but I feel he could wind up being an above average MLB catcher.
  5. Might not be a terrible option to continue bringing MCW and Parker off the bench while starting Bayless and Mayo. This creates more space for Giannis and Monroe. This also allows Jabari to be the featured offensive option where he can continue to develop and more aggressive defensively since he has He son behind him to help protect the rim.
  6. Or maybe they looked better because Denver is a horrible team playing with two banged up guards. Look, I have no problem with tweaking the line-up to see what works, but way too early to call this move a big success. I do agree I would limit the minutes Giannis and Parker play together at this point, if the goal was to win games this year. However, if they really are the future of this team then the more they play together, the better. It's nice to see the defense is back the last couple games, they need to keep that intensity. Both Giannis and Jabari need the ball in their hands to continue developing their offensive games. This can be accomplished more so if they are not sharing the floor. Towards the end of this season and next year they will need to learn how to share the ball and work together offensively. they still have plenty of time to figure out how to play alongside each other.
  7. Bayless did a good job starting tonight. I also think MCW and Parker looked much better coming off the bench. Maybe its better to limit Giannis and Parker playing together since their games are similar.
  8. Lucroy and Lind definitely and Segura if they get a good match. I'd like them to keep Davis for the year to show what he can do with a full year of healthy play. A 30+ HR guy with 3 years of control should bring a very high return. Smith seems more like a trading deadline piece. Scooter would also be a guy to trade at the deadline, if he has a good first half. I think Davis has more value now, especially to a team who is looking for a power bat but is currently facing budget constraints (i.e. Toronto). Getting a proven player with 30+ HR potential for the league minimum is huge to these types of teams. I say trade him now while his value is high since i do not see him as a valuable enough piece to keep around while we rebuild. Give his playing time to Santana.
  9. I wonder if it would help out our rotations if we started Vasquez along with Mayo and keep MCW coming off the bench while making Parker the main offensive option on our second unit. Starters: Vasquez, Mayo, Middleton, Giannis and Monroe (gives Giannis and Monroe more space to work in the paint with shooters at the 1-3 spots). 2nd Unit: Bayless, MCW, Vaughn, Parker and Henson (Henson can help cover up Parker's defensive flaws while it allows Parker to dominate on offense).
  10. Looks like a solid bat but where does he fit in defensively on this team? Backup corner OF/1B. Depending on how he does, might give the option of trading Khris Davis. This should be an option regardless since you can move Braun back to LF and put Santana in RF. Flores, Reed or a FA stop gap (i.e. Jackson, Stubbs or Maxwell) can start in CF.
  11. Braun is the only player who will definitely not being traded only because of his contract, although if Stearns is willing to eat a significant portion he could net a pretty decent return. My top 5 to trade would be Lucroy (kings ransom), Lind (fringe 100 or solid prospect), Davis (top 100 prospect), Smith (top 10 team prospect) and Segura (high risk/reward prospect). This should bolster our farm system enough to break into the top 10.
  12. Highly rated?? Ponce is currently ranked #29 in the Brewers system behind players like Cravy, Goforth and Denson because of his control issues while Sneed also put up good numbers in A Ball but did so while being 2 years older. I am not saying to pencil Ponce into our rotation anytime soon but as other posters have already mentioned. You do not put a pitcher who has four average or better pitches into the bullpen. Plain and simple.
  13. I would be happy with this return for Lind.
  14. I agree we will continue to disagree but how can you be convinced it was a mistake less than a year after the trade? This is a young team that will not hit their peak for several years. To already say with conviction the trade was a mistake is like saying Steph Curry will never be a good NBA player based on his small build and lack of athleticism before allowing him time to develop and adjust to the NBA game.
  15. To say Dudley, Mayo and Zaza were not leaders because they were not "the man" is simply nonsense. Also Giannis just started working on his jump shot this past offseason and his long range shooting has drastically improved (45.5% 16<3 and 36.4% 3Pt). For a player with such a sweet stroke, Giannis should continue to develop into an elite all-around scorer. Finally, to validate Knight because he was almost an All-Star last season is laughable. He was the best player on a surprise team last season and was being rewarded for it. Building a championship caliber team does not consist of one star player (Giannis) and a fringe all-star (Knight). You need multiple bonafide all-stars which Giannis and Parker project to become. Knight is who he is and will never be more than a complementary player on a good team similar to Middleton. Albeit, Middleton provides better defense than Knight which is what Kidd needs from his perimeter players.
  16. Yes, thank you. Needing to get a catcher of the future or a 3rd baseman of the future is not the way to trade. You're severely limiting the talent you can get back if you only focus on getting certain positions or getting guys close to the majors. Get the best package of players you can and figure it out later. Totally agree here. We have the luxury of not being forced to fill a position with a long term solution at this time. Having a prospect 3B or catcher tomorrow isn't essential to 2016 because it won't change the fact that we just won't be that good. It's a very different situation if you're St. Louis or the Cubs or Pirates. They expect to contend next year, and can't afford to have a huge hole in their lineup. I'm not saying we ignore 3B or catcher - but wait for the right situation to fill the hole. That might be a free agent, or a draft pick, or whatever. But take our time and make sure it's best for the team. I agree with all of these thoughts. The Cubs traded Samardzija for Russell (#11 overall) when they already had Castro and Baez knocking on the door. But he was by far the best prospect to be had in the A's system. People questioned the move because of their depth but it seems to have worked our just fine for them this past season. I would prefer building a package around a legitimate stud pitching prospect than a top ranked catcher if we decide to trade Lucroy.
  17. I'm all for adding bounce back candidates who we can flip at the trade deadline but not at the expense of our young players. I am also hoping for a couple of top 5 picks to add more top tier talent to our farm system (hopefully one pitcher who projects to be a bona fide ace and can head up our rotation down the road).
  18. 1. The leader is MCW. You might not notice it on the floor but in the locker room his is vocal. http://behindthebuckpass.com/2015/11/15/michael-carter-williams-the-leader-of-the-milwaukee-bucks/ 2. Currently it is Middleton but by the end of the season it will be Giannis. He just needs more time to mature and develop a more consistent approach. Remember he is only 20. I will also add my belief that Knight might have been the floor general by default since he has was our PG but Dudley was the true leader of this team and main reason they gelled so well to start last season.
  19. Swapping out Lucroy for a package of highly rated prospects and Signing Alex Avila (who very likely will never catch again) will not make us competitive next season. Stearns has made the conscious decision to trade away assets to rebuild our farm system instead of trying to half-ass compete like Melvin did the past 2 years. Currently we are significantly behind the Cards, Cubs and Pirates with no chance of catching them in the next couple of years. This is the perfect opportunity to tear it down and retool. If you want to properly rebuild a team you cannot have it both ways unless you have an unlimited payroll like the Dodgers or Yankees.
  20. I wasn't trying to say that all three would become aces but it is not crazy to think that one of the three could become one and the other two become #2-3 type of the rotation guys. Look at a pitcher like Arietta who was absolutely horrible and now won a Cy Young. Or even a guy like Greinke. Take out his Cy Young year and at the same age in KC he was putting up numbers very close to the three guys on the Brewers. There are many more examples that could be used but I can tell by all your posts that no matter what any of the current Brewers could do won't matter to you because no matter what, it's play for 2018 and beyond. I really hope Stearns is playing for the future but also can see the present. We've home brewed three guys that can throw the ball pretty darn well. Get the right pitching coach with them and you just don't know what those guys can turn into. The big difference between Greinke, Arrieta and Peralta and Jungmann is their pitching repertoires. Peralta and Jungmann simply do not have pitches which project to be top tier. Of the two Peralta had more promise but still projected to be a mid-rotation workhorse more so than a top of the rotation arm. I will be happy if Jungmann can repeat last season's production and wily could get back to posting numbers similar to 2014.
  21. And this is where we will simply agree to disagree. Looks like we will see where all three players are at in a few years and determine who was right then.
  22. And this is where we will simply agree to disagree. Looks like we will see where all three players are at in a few years and determine who was right then.
  23. So you are saying you would have preferred they keep Knight and continue putting the ball in his hands going forward instead of Giannis or Jabari's? You do realize neither Giannis and Jabari can legally buy alcohol for another year and have much more room to improve moving forward. I'm not saying Knight is not the more productive player currently, just that Giannis and Jabari project to be better players in the long term and in order to get them to this point would require them to possess the ball more often than not. We also need to remember this team is looking to build a championship contender not one who will compete for the 5-8 seeds. In order to do so, they need stars and Knight while a very good player, does not have the elite star potential of Giannis or Parker.
  24. I think this is inaccurate. Davis, Smith and even Segura could net us a decent return. We just need to find the right fit for each player. I don't think Davis would bring alot right now. If he has a .825 OPS next year and we trade him at the deadline, he should bring a good haul. But right now if I was the other team, I don't trust the production quite yet. Show me he can do it from April to mid-July next season, and I will be convinced. I don't think Segura has much value now that he is in his arby years. He had value as a $600K guy with possible upside, now he is a $2M guy that we pretty much know what he is going to give you (or not give you) on offense. I guess if we traded him today, I would think we would get back someone that would fall into our current BF minor league rankings somewhere in the 20 range. Maybe we will find out shortly if the rumors are right. If Stearns gets more than that, I will be impressed. I don't really think Smith will be traded (even at the deadline), as the only lefty, especially since KRod was just moved - so I didn't include him. I agree no one outside of Lucroy will net them a stud prospect like the Gomez trade. But getting four years of team control of a player who can hit 25-30 HRs has plenty of value, especially for an AL team who can use him as a DH role to maximize his offensive value. Smith could be dealt if Stearns is willing to sign a free agent lefty or feels comfortable going into the season with Jimenez and/or Strong.
  25. Jean Segura is not getting anything close to a Top 100 prospect. I would take Sardinas over him value wise to be honest and he got us some fringe prospect. Segura offers similar defense at SS but also provides some gap power which Sardinas will never possess. I am definitely not high on Segura but to say Sardinas is better is ridiculous.
