  1. Have you seen the Cubs schedule on out vs ours? First place is truly temporary. We don't have a ton of cupcakes left,. Cubs next 10 are 3 against the Royals, 3 against the Tigers, 4 against the Pirates. These are games we need to win because the schedule allows us no favors down the stretch. We are absolutely burnt if we lose games 1-0 against elite opponents.
  2. I am ultra Negative tonight because I have reached the seasonal breaking point. You can only take so much ineptitude before you break. Tonight was my night. Watching a critical game, where your Cy Young pitcher goes 7 strong innings of Cy Young ball to take a no decision because of baseball 101 ineptitude. It just gets old. If I am a pitcher on this team I don't lay an eye or talk to any of the hitters on this team, especially when Willy is clowning around in the dugout embracing his inner Bob Uecker at the plate. Screw that clown.
  3. I have no doubts that either Santana or Frelick reaches allowing Willy to K for the finish, hitting that Mendoza Line.
  4. This game is a prime example of ownership ineptitude. The offense has sucked all year. Mark A and Matt A brought back, in short, the same exact offense that sucked last year. Expecting different results with a few rookies.. There is absolutely no excuse to score 3 runs in a 3 game series against anyone (there isn't a single poster here that thinks we score a run in the 9th). You can't continue to run the same philosophy year in and year out and expect different results. You did this when we got to the NLCS (albeit with pitching being the inept area). Your franchise was gifted 3 elite cost controlled pitchers and you didn't do a single darn thing to improve the offense. Shame on Mark A and his 'attempt' at being an owner. Your in a class just above Jeffrey Loria.
  5. Willy doesn't hit, he just swings aimlessly praying to touch the baseball.
  6. The downfall (talent isn't the greatest to begin with) started with Andy Haines. The fact we hired that hack hurt so many guys. He has continued in Pittsburgh being a detriment to their young prospects hitting development. You can't make a bad hire and expect others to pick up years of bad habits accumulated. Launch angle plays a role, however when you look at our personnel that are 'veterans' before and after Haines not a single one has made strides. Haines started it and TImmons/Dawson continued it.
  7. Ozzie Timmons MLB career was similar to a used car salesman.
  8. Major league hitters get things done. Then there are the Brewers.
  9. This utter ineptitude at getting guys home on 3rd with 0 outs is inexcusable. At what point do we change our philosophy? Will it take 1,191 outs at home on the contact play to do so? Who knows. We haven't changed yet. Maybe #1,192 is the fricking charm.
  10. For as rough as our collective hitting has been all year last night was a game that felt like we did much better for 1 run. Let's hope those breaks go our way tonight
  11. Braun or Molitor. He is that exciting and as fundamentally sound as both of them were. Sky is the limit.
  12. I don't think that's necessarily the case. Was warming up late in the 7th (in case Peralta got into trouble) and wasn't worth not using him when warm. I do think we will see scenarios where Chafin or Uribe get a call in the 7th under circumstances but tonight didn't seem like this was the game where it was going to happen. Circumstances made it worth him getting the 8th.
  13. We need Frelick to continue avoiding and refusing to make eye contact with Timmons and Dawson.
  14. And when he comes back from that off day no higher than 6th in the order.
  15. I honestly don't care how Santana or Canha perform down the stretch. Both have been initially underwhelming. The indirect impact of their additions has been a very noticeable 'pressure' release from the rookies. Approaches are better by Turang and Weimer (Frelick has been fine). I feel strongly it's a direct impact of those 2 additions allowing them to relax.
  16. I honestly don't understand where our analytics 'break' happened within this organization. Years ago we couldn't get rid of Domingo Santana or Chris Carter fast enough. Now the team has multiple versions of those 2 players without the power/OBP rates.
  17. I would also add that if we are going to move Burnes/Woodruff in the offseason there is not a better time to trade some prospects for a bigger bat or two. Hypothetically, you could reduce your prospect loss, substantially, by doing what we all know management is likely to do.
  18. I went over and browsed the 'Redszone' game thread. I gathered that the reason they lost is they had SIX, count em SIX, base on balls that shouldn't have been (according to their bias). Mysteriously, no mention of our RISP ineptitude that kept them in the game.
  19. As bad as this has been we go into the 9th with a lead if Willy isn't hacking at everything thrown within a 45 foot vicinity of the strike zone.
  20. We are facing a Righty. It's imperative we get our only man on the 25 hitting below the Mendoza in the cleanup spot. Can't believe you don't have Winker in this lineup.
  21. When the announcers last words before sendoff was 'man this was fun tonight' tells you all you need to know. This game was an absolute treat for the announcers as well.
  22. We aren't but of all the options we do have Winker ranks dead last.
  23. From a pure hitting standpoint he is the best our system has had in decades. Hoping it has longterm translation at the big league level.
  24. Great win. Cy Young Burnes is looking like he is back. MVP Yelich back. Front office likely currently scrambling together a contract to try to buy out Uribe's arby years and first year of Free Agency. Today was a good day.
