  1. I think I agree. Wild pitches are rare but these guys are prone to them. Just get the hit
  2. Yeah Moose I would not be so sure, amazing D just realized my typo. You got it though Moose is better at D than Shaw
  3. With 2 outs and at 3rd IDK if it's worth it. But Arcia or Broxton's speed could make the difference on a wild pitch
  4. Same logic would apply to Moose, except shaw is better at D than Shaw. MAybe wait and see if he gets to scoring position first
  5. That's actually smart. You're gonna take him out for D after this inning anyway I'd think. Schoop makes perfect sense. Or Arcia and move Perez to 2B
  6. IDK if HAder is available. Alternate route possibly could be Soria for leadoff righty Bryant. Cedeno for Rizzo. Jeffress from there on out.
  7. Yea I'd guess the logic is Anderson is a flyball pitcher so don't neeeeed Arcia's D as badly. Therefore you're down to Perez or Schoop to get the better bat. Schoop played yesterday and Perez didn't so here we are. Personally I'd go Schoop because that's why you got him, he's been generally good of late, and I feel like to hopefully get him on a hot streak that could pay dividends he needs consistent pt. Either way, it's nothing to get too worked up about.
  8. And that's in spite of significant regression from Jesus since then too. I suppose somewhat balanced by the hot streak of Yelich though, but he was good the whole year anyway.
  9. But is he even going to be worth the 10 million or so he’ll get? Likely not. He isn’t versatile (just Brewer versatile apparently) and has hit poorly since he’s come over. Better off going into FA and getting Marwin gonzalez or Escobar, players who can move to SS after Huira comes up (they’ve also both outhit Schoop this year) you'd likely have to give multi-year commitments for tens of millions to those guys as opposed just a 1 year commitment to Schoop. ETA: I've also had Marwan in fantasy this year. Major disappointment year for him. But his versatility is just crazy.
  10. Imagine the twittersphere and this site if they sit Cain in the biggest game of the year with a day off tomorrow.
  11. I see both sides. But i think I'd root for Col to win in order to hope they win the division over LAD. Dodgers are now 3 back of STL, so very difficult for them to get a WC.
  12. Great post CHL. Pretty much nails it on the head
  13. Yea I've generally been on the Villar side here as everyone bashed him the last couple years. I just find it funny that it's been two years of bashing him but now everyone loves him (though of course nature of boards it's tough to know who's who and make consensus statements like that). He had his hot streak last year somewhere around August too and was going well. Then he misplayed that ball in CF and was in the doghouse the rest of the year again. Then couldn't get consistent PT this year. I just wanted to play the guy and let him play freely and see what happened. If anything I'd blame some of this on the hitting coach yet again, likely got in his head too much emphasizing playing slap hitting style. But of course who knows. I think I'm ready to move on from Coles though.
  14. Yea of course you'd have to work him out and make sure he's in shape, been practicing, etc but if he is then he'd likely have a better chance than Kiser. I understood giving Hundley a chance last year, he'd been in the system for years and always did well in preseason. But Kizer's only been here a bit, was bad last year and was bad in his quarter. IMO if Rodgers has a legit injury they should be privately working Kaepernick out to see what's up with him. He probably couldn't play for a couple weeks while he learned the system though, so if Rodger is only out a week or two then it's just not worth the media circus. But assuming he's in game shape and been practicing, he's clearly the best available option. I don't follow the specifics, but at this point it also wouldn't really surprise me if he prefers not to play. First, it keeps his legal case going. Second, he can keep parlaying this into being a celebrity a bit and that can go for a long time. which keeps money coming in for him, but also keeps giving him a platform for the causes he cares about.
  15. Perez is a good bench RH bat. In many games started by a righty you'll have Schoop too. Saladino has hit well since his call up. Even Broxton is capable of jacking one at the right time, and he's done it since he's been back up. This is baseball, a game of failure, you can't expect a guy to get a hit every time. Their P made great pitches and did his job perfectly, tip the cap and move on. If I remember correctly, Saladino hit a bullet right to 3B last night in his PH. Bobbled by Bote but still got him
  16. And mowing through the Brewers lineup. Because of course the Cubs can grab a crappy lefty off the scrap heap, and he suddenly becomes a lock-down late inning reliever. I always thought he'd leave MKE and go to STL and they'd fix him into a borderline Cy Young guy. Huge missed opportunity for STL back when they still had Duncan
  17. Former Brewers great Jorge De la Rosa facing up against the Crew in a playoff chase. Things come full circle.
  18. In the span of 6 weeks Villar has gone from the most hated player on this board to the most beloved.
  19. Plus once Manny went out as the initial PH he wasn't coming back because then you're playing a rookie C to finish the game. As I mentioned the nitpick to me would be to have Arcia call the bluff as long as possible before deciding who to PH. Maybe you still go Pina, maybe you don't
  20. That's a bit much. Even if you put in Moose it's still 67% chance you have the same result.
  21. Even the best hitters miss 95+ MPH fastballs high in the zone at times. Not everything has to be an indictment on a player. Their guy did his job perfectly.
  22. I think Maddon wanted to force the Brewers to not use Moustakas. Probably will leave him to start next inning too so Moose doesn't PH. Would have broxton, Salad as righties.
  23. Can't really blame him for taking those first two pitches, they had pop up written all over them and could've been balls. Sometimes the other guys make good plays too, not everything has to be terrible. He did nothing stupid, the guy made two great pitches. He took his hack at the last pitch that was a strike. IT's baseball, you're going to get out 65 % of the time
  24. Let's go Manny. Still, I call the bluff and have Arcia go right up there until the last minute and then use Moose. Maybe he doesn't want to burn another player though ETA: didn't know it was a lefty. assumed they'd go right
  25. This should be safe. Assume they pull Quintana for a righty, gotta pull Arcia for Moose don't you? Then let Perez play SS
