  1. So, from quick reading here would I be accurate in saying the more experts at this would say one is better off scalping in the parking lot rather than paying stubhub (and their fees)? Of course it's not an exact science, but just generally speaking. I had them for every game due to season tickets in 11, but won't this year but plan on going to all home games.
  2. While unlikely there is clearly a way, if you sweep them next week you're involved. That's it. Sure it's not going to happen but it could, MKE swept them down there last year late in the year. They also play Scherz and Stras this weekend and the Cubs bullpen is swamped. If they lose 3/4 and we sweep you're involved. Of course all this is unlikely and kind of best case scenario, but this is baseball, stuff like this happens all the time. Well, not all the time I guess but it's not rare. Something odd happens almost yearly, heck look at OAK this year or even STL this year. STL coming back to catch ATL in 2011, etc.
  3. Plush, generally true. I'd add to it though that he's more trustable or reliable than what they got last year. BAsically that I'm sure they figured last year was fluky so couldn't bank on it again from those guys, but now got a guy they should be able to trust to replicate that or even better. There's value in that.
  4. Yelich stuff just won't' end. His replacements went 2/4 with a 2 R HR. and he got a hit in his pinch hit appearance. This had nothing to do with the loss. Yes I'm sure they could've forced it, but let's just be real here for a minute, as if everyone wouldn't be saying the exact same things if he sat on Friday. It was certainly implied he had some physical things bothering him and they thought two days would be a good thing, they took it now and his replacements did well and he even was used and got a clutch hit at the right time. This was not why they lost.
  5. Moose has had the last two off. That was a good hit he just had, just right at someone. off the bat i thought double and we were in business. The previous AB was horrible though, that 2-1 curveball got in his head and he started guessing on everything
  6. Yea seems like after Jennings gives that up you do the double switch for Burnes or whoever you're bringing in next who can pitch 2-3 innings. Also, wouldn't the new guy from the Sox be a better lefty option?
  7. I think he was probably under it but I don't know how there is a clear enough angle to know for sure. have to leave it stand, we've seen that too many times this year.
  8. I'm not a big nitpick every move like many do here. But PH for Arcia there I think was a mistake. Whole different game if you get a hit there and putting in someone like Santana with HR power is a huge plus. The expanded rosters right now allow for a move like that and an ultra versatile guy like Perez allows for it. Think it was missed opportunity. Still 65% chance of the same result but I think worth the gamble for the extra offensive chance there. Man, what another weird hit. Lots off odd stuff in this series
  9. Yes, HBP is HBP regardless of whether it hits the ground first. Kratz did that in one of the last two games too (Or I think it was him). It was one where he basically stuck his leg out for it too, whereas this one came pretty quickly. too bad he couldn't dodge this one
  10. I could've gotten behind this or even Santana if they don't want Yelich playing any D
  11. The tweet in here said normal aches and pains without anything specific. Another tweet from someone said something came up on Sunday I think but were trying to get through this series and do it Friday but decided couldn't wait. That's injury/physical to me. Didn't mention mental breather or anything like that
  12. I can't believe this is still being harped on after they said he has a small nagging injury they want to clean up rather than risk furthering. That's it. And there is Perez with at least one hit for the night.
  13. Probably didn’t think Baez would run to third on a hit like that. L Doesn't matter. You back up the bag as a pitcher. Every time. I thought he was there but it just went high. Could be wrong, but I thought I saw two guys. The issue was that no one was on that side of the field due to the shift, so it was all just a mess. I thought of it as soon as the hit that there wouldn't be a guy covering 3B.
  14. Again I would disagree they're looking to do that, if anything we learned this year they value the depth and it shows you need 8-10 guys to get through a year. I don't think they're going to be looking to move that depth while they still have years of control. I also don't necessarily think they would view Peralta as better than Burnes, of course no way to prove since Peralta started over him this year but I don't take that as a hard indicator for the future. It could really be just that due to Peralta's control problems he's not a candidate for the bullpen, whereas Burnes is. Plus it could be an innings issue, who knows. Basically I just think they roll with the older guys listed, and then have these young guys as the filler once they're needed. We'll see though, I don't thik you're saying anything crazy or illogical. Just don't agree. Plus looking at Peralta's second half I think it's clear he needs a lot of work, not be trusted as reliable enough to be a starter all year at the MLB level.
  15. I would disagree with this. First, Anderson has multi million dollar contract. Second, Davies is proven for two years. Maybe if he blows up the rest of the year it becomes questionable, otherwise he's a lock. Nelson if healthy is a lock. I suppose it's debatable between him and Burnes but I'd guess they go Burnes before him. Peralta has had like one good game the 2 months or however it long it took for those 7 or 8 starts.
  16. Then he must be absolutely terrified for the D-Backs and Rockies because they have to play their division too. A much tougher one. Yea everyone plays their division right now. If I remember correctly, Cubs still get STL 6 times vs us 3. Then our division games are vs the weak teams. So Cubs is worse. Plus tougher other games too
  17. Great post by MrAllen. Well done. That's the type of high level analysis we pay you for
  18. He’s not. Please look at the data. I've looked at it quite a bit. Broxton is a much better defender in RF while being a slightly worse hitter vs lefties. Santana is definitely a better hitter than Perez and a bit worse defensively. I'd play Broxton and go all defense. I also wonder if Saladino can play out there, I'd much rather have him than Perez. Perez is also specifically bad against Quintana, fyi. I'm just not sure how you can claim Santana is a clear better hitter these days after being so bad to start the year and down in AAA, and now basically not playing in several days. And Broxton is a clearly worse hitter than Perez, not slightly. Broxton has run into a few homers this year at lucky times and I love his energy but overall he's been awful on O, just like why he got sent down last year. Saladino, I mean cmon now. Perez has been hitting generally well for a while now, especially vs lefties.
  19. There's the explanation. I'm fine with it, even going back to my original post assuming that was the case. Just couldn't imagine they'd give a maintenance day for the heck of it right now and we were all right in that...
  20. This is my thought to. I'm entirely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for not playing Yelich. I'm more concerned with him playing what must be the 5th or 6th best RF option...and then batting him 2nd. He’s not. Please look at the data. Right, if you're not playing the 3 main OF then I'd say Perez is the next best option. They also frequently use him as a D sub in RF so they must think highly of his D there.
  21. IDK if I'd go that far. Perez has an 834 ops this year and 805 last year vs Lefties. Broxton is a poor hitter overall. Santana is who knows due to all the days off for him
  22. Yea it's ripe for a Braun double switch once Quintana is out and we hopefully have the lead to get the better D out there.
  23. Yelich is just on fire, you'd almost think having two consecutive days off is a bad thing at this point to get out of the groove. Sunday might be the more logical day off vs Bumgarner.
  24. Unless a he had a minor injury happen I guess I'm in the camp that maybe Yelich could've taken Friday off instead if he needs a day. Guys been on fire. Having said that, Perez will hit a ding dong in the 1st inning. Let's hope Rizzo is out for them as well.
