  1. Here are a couple options I've found... MATC Web Development Certificate Monster.com-Web Development Bundle Both are online offerings, which is what I would want to do. Just not sure if they'd really carry any weight in the workplace. Any thoughts on these? The monster.com cost seems too low. The MATC certificate would be about 700-800 dollars. That's why I'm thinking there's a catch. I have zero experience with online classes.
  2. C2 Graphics is the place I've dealt with before. Wouldn't doubt if that's the agency you're talking about. I know they have a Milwaukee office. Is Web development and web design considered the same thing? Development seems more technical to me. I know monster.com has some web development online program bundle that seems interesting and relatively cheap. But I'm not sure if it would hold any merit to an employer. I've talked with our bosses and our company is starting to specialize in premedia and digital asset management. That, I believe, is where our future is. I'm hoping I could expand my skills to include that type of stuff. Thanks for all the advice. I know it's a tough go for everyone right now.
  3. Thought I would ask this here. You all seem like fine, outstanding, young men and women. I'm trying to prepare for a job change, even though I hope it doesn't happen. I am currently in the digital prepress field. I started in 1994 when this was to be the "future". Well, work seems to be dying out as most companies that even print anything anymore do their work in-house. In other words, I have no idea what to do. I currently have a job I love at a company I love but the work is dying out and we've been laying off people, and I may be next. I work in Photoshop daily. I consider myself very proficient at doing anything using it. I'm also familiar with most of the other graphic apps as well (Illustrator, Indesign, Quark, etc.) I would seem to fit a design type job but I'm not a designer by trade. I do more like production art and color correction. Someone tells me what to put where and I make it happen. You want it green I'll make it green, red I'll make it red. I'm not sure I'd be good at coming up with something myself. I was thinking about getting into Web development but am not sure how much education I would need. I've seen many online programs but I have no idea how they work or if they are even worth anything. I think online courses would be my only option. I'd be willing to build off the knowledge I have but I'm not sure what direction to go. I'm not exactly a young go-getter anymore. Anyone with any knowledge in this area? I know some are in the graphic design field. Thanks.
  4. Sorry, you're right. I was thinking of our DVD upconverter. So... I am just using the supplied RCA plugs. Do I need to do something else to get 480p?
  5. I have a 1080p TV but the 480p setting is grayed out. It's on 480i right now. I have the Wii hooked up with an HDMI cable. I'm sure 480p wouldn't be a whole lot better but I'm not understanding why it's grayed out.
  6. That's nice to know. A buddy and I golfed Wolf Creek and Boulder Creek a couple years ago and would love to golf again the next time we go. Golfing Wolf Creek is like visiting another planet when you're a lifelong Wisconsinite. We paid full price at Wolf Creek and supposedly half price at BC. (I think Wolf Creek was 170 and BC was maybe 50. Wolf Creek was still reasonable compared to the other highend courses that were almost all over 200. Just had to rent a car to get there. The rest of the trip was comped through his work so we were willing to spend a little to golf a once in a lifetime place like Wolf Creek. I'm normally a 20 bucks a round guy. Sorry bobbledude, didn't mean to hijack the thread. I've seen a version of Circ in Chicago and it's very very cool. We saw Kevin James and Bon Jovi in Vegas but they're obviously not there all the time.
  7. No, this is our first Animal Crossing experience. I'm supposed to get a bug for someone. How the heck do I do that? I have a net but haven't run into any bugs. But I have been stung by bees. As Dane Cook says, "F**k bees....f**k bees..." As far as I know, the Opera browser for the Wii does not support Flash 8 or 9, only 7 or older. My daughter goes to PBSKids and only about half the stuff is viewable. Youtube is viewable. http://www.wiiplayable.com/ This website has a bunch of what I'm guessing are Flash 7 games that are playable and viewable on the Wii. We've used it many times. Nothing outstanding but my daughter enjoys the 'Shapes' game. About the keyboard, I've heard any usb wireless keyboard works. I think Logitech sells a Wii keyboard for a lot more than what you could find a 3rd party one for but it incorporates some special features and keys often used in Wii surfing. Here you go... http://www.amazon.com/Wii...rd-Nintendo/dp/B001D1HCF6
  8. I rented Call of Duty: World at War and I thought it was cool. My wife and I got through it in a few weeks (we're NOT hardcores) and it was challenging for us without being impossible. We did look at online guides a few times for hints but never needed a cheat. I own the latest Tiger Woods and like it. Putting with the wiimote can be a little frustrating at times but it's very easy to find an online game and 18 holes only takes a half hour. I rented Big Brain Academy for my young girl and I haven't even shown it to her. It's going to be WAY too hard for a 4-5 year old. She can't read yet. Plus I haven't beaten my wife at it yet. I could see it being a very good party game, though. I rented MLB 2K8. It definitely isn't perfect but I love the pitching portion. The catcher actually 'calls' the game and sets up where he wants the pitch. You can get into the motion as much as you want. It really only requires a flick of the wrist. I too like the fielding animations. They seem very realistic. Batting can be very easy at times. I just had 7 homers in a game and 5 were opposite field shots. 2 were pulled down the line by Yo. I still haven't figured out running. I always have trouble with this part of baseball games. I haven't messed with the settings too much because I like winning. I like to play with the current Brewer roster so the "Player Finder" feature easily helps you find guys to trade or pick up. I'm hoping the 2K9 version will have online play with (I hope) the ability to keep the rosters current. I've never used an online baseball game but I'm assuming they'd work like that. I too loved the MVP series on the PS2. I actually like the college baseball game for the PS2 they came out with after the MVP series ended. You had to swing AND throw with the analog stick. It felt pretty cool and no throws were automatic. Kept you into it all the way through the play. Haven't bought any other baseball games in the last couple years. Nothing compared to MVP, in my opinion. My wife is currently addicted to Animal Crossing: City Folk. I'm too embarrassed to really talk about it much. I've played it way too much myself.
  9. I was playing around with my Wii and I ended up connecting to the internet using, I'm assuming, one of my neighbor's wireless internet access. I'm planning on getting a router anyway but I played around a bit just to see what it was like. I ended up buying some Wii points and downloading the internet channel. Very cool by the way. My question is did I make myself a huge security risk by entering my credit card info while tapping someone else's wireless access? I'm getting a router today so I won't be using it after today. In my excitement over being able to surf the internet on my TV I kind of ignored the consequences of my actions. Also, I noticed even though the Wii is off it seems to still be in like a sleep type mode. There's a green light on when there's usually a red light. I'm guessing I'm still connected?
  10. Can you get games via mail with Blockbuster? Or just using the in-store coupons. Looking for a company that does games AND movies via mail. We currently have Netflix and like it.
  11. Just bought a Karaoke "mixer" for a DVD player. It's "The Singing Machine" (SMM-117) DVD accessory pack. I hooked it up correctly (I promise) and was able to play the supplied disc fine, with lyrics and all. We also bought other 3rd party discs (partytyme) and tried those. The audio works fine but we're getting no lyrics. My DVD players (I tried 2 different ones) see the supplied disc as a DVD but the others as CDs. I'm thinking this is the problem but the "salesman" made it sound like the hardware I bought is supposed to decode the CD+G info from the 3rd party discs. Any karoake experts? I am not but my little girl would LOVE this if I can figure it out. Thanks!
  12. I have PMS colors if interested... Blue: PMS 2767 Gold: PMS 872 Brick Red: 1815
  13. Just to follow up on this, I had my court date today. Very glad I went. They knocked the fine down to 148.20 from 249. Points stayed at 3. He (judge) said they couldn't go any lower on the points. About an hour of my time saved me over 100 bucks. I wish I would've went for my other tickets.
  14. I guess add wiring to the list of head scratchers on this house. We've had quite a few issues regarding everything from layout to ductwork to landscaping, and now this. I guess the battery backup is the best thing right now, as the tv is the biggest investment involved I'm worried about losing. I'll have to have someone come over to see about getting the tv/bathroom on different circuits. Thanks!
  15. Since the addition of our new plasma tv to the household, I have a circuit breaker tripping everytime my wife uses the hairdryer when the tv is on. While I would somehow love to blame it on my wife's use of this outlandish follicle de-wetting contraption, the sensible part of my brain realizes this problem is probably due to the new tv. Any electricians in the house? What are my options? I have the tv on a surge protector but I'm not sure exactly if that's supposed to help. Thanks!
  16. Believe me, I'm normally the first guy to pull over in those situations. My dad was volunteer firefighter for 25 years. There's been so many times I've gone by a cop with it's lights on on the interstate so I never thought of it. I'm sure I had room to move over and I did not slow down. My cruise was at 68. When I went by I could tell the officer was on his way back to the car. I do feel bad about but I had no idea it was a law. I remember thinking to move over but I didn't want to just fly over into the left lane. The worst part is I had a speeding ticket a while ago that I definitely should've went to court for (to reduce the points) and I didn't. So this one kind of puts my points in a bad situation.
  17. I recently received a ticket for not switching lanes for an emergency vehicle with it's lights on. The ticket was for $250. Wondering if it would be worth my while to make the court appearance. Have to admit I'm guilty in the strict sense of the law (which I didn't even know was a law) so I'd plead "no contest". By the time I came up on the police car (who had someone pulled over) I didn't want to risk switching lanes (I was on the interstate). Just wondering if they'd reduce the fine at all. Haven't had any experience with this.
  18. wow. lineup is on usatoday website. can't copy and past correctly. http://www.usatoday.com/sports/scores108/108227/MLB798087.htm
  19. Ash mentioned he tweaked it in BP last night.
  20. per Gord Ash on XM Wed am. Sounds like Branyan has same type of injury as Braun. Also mentioned they'll have to make a DL decision on Braun by end of week if no progress is made.
  21. Sorry, I didn't clarify. It's not at Miller Park. It's at my hometown 4th celebration. During a Home Talent Baseball game. Which makes it even more fun for me. I'll know a lot of people. I just want to stay vertical.
  22. I'm going to be a racing as the Chorizo tomorrow. Any tips? (Humorous answers are welcome)
  23. Looking into buying a Wii. Mostly to entertain my 4 year old who plays it at her daycare. Wondering what the best route to go is. Trying to find it new somewhere or finding a deal on craigslist or ebay. Electronic stuff always worries me when trying to find "deals". Also, what extras will be needed for 3 people to play. Thanks.
  24. Anyone else having trouble getting this to work. The main screen loads but I'm sitting on the "Live" tab with a blank screen. I have Flash 9 loaded so I don't think that's the problem. I'm having the same issues here at home on my PC and at work on my Mac.
  25. Thought I'd throw this question in here. Anyone know where to find a glass/plastic display case for an autographed bat? Don't want to spend a lot. Bought a used bat at the rummage sale a few years ago and had Prince sign it during the rookie orientation thing they had. Thanks.
